REPORT OF THE CRANFORD SUPPORT TRUST 1 APRIL 2020 TO 31 MARCH 2021

The Cranford Support Trust was registered on 22 December 2010. The charity registration number is 1139445. The Trust’s purpose is the advancement of the Christian faith primarily but not exclusively within Cranford and the surrounding neighbourhood, through the financial support of a full-time minister of the gospel based at Cranford Baptist Church. Robin Asgher has been employed full-time with the Cranford Support Trust since 6 April 2011. Robin Asgher’s role is to fulfil all the duties of a pastor in respect of Cranford Baptist Church including preaching, teaching, leadership, pastoral and children’s and youth work.

The present Trustees are:

Mr Gary Brady Chairman Mr David Magowan Secretary / Treasurer Mr Basil Howlett Mr Andrew Heron Mr Ron Hollands Mr Geoff Maxted

The trustees met on 2 occasions in the 12 months covered by this report – on 17 September 2020 and 21 January 2021.

Following the general lockdown introduced in March 2020, to contain the spread of COVID19, church activities moved online or ceased. The church continued to meet weekly on Sunday mornings by Zoom and other midweek meetings were held online. Because the meetings were online, people were able to join from India, Pakistan and Iran. The Friday children’s club and toddler group had to stop. No Holiday Bible Club was held and Robin was unable to take school assemblies.

Over the course of the year, Robin Asgher has also been responsible for pastoral care of the congregation of Cranford Baptist Church.

Since 1 June 2018 Robin has been working part-time (employed by the Home Office) as a chaplain at the Immigration Detention and Removal Centres in Colnbrook and Harmondsworth, visiting detainees, holding Bible studies, and distributing Christian literature.
