Activities

Restore & preserve the Steam Tug 'Brent' of 1945, as an example of London's dockland heritage & to sail her in U.K & European waters. Brent is based for public view on the waterfront at Maldon Essex. As a museum ship she is open to the public 10 -16 times a year. Currently a static exhibit, the trustees and a group of volunteers are restoring her to enable her to steam again.

Objects: To Restore And Display The Historic 'Tid' Steam Tug Boat 'Brent', Built In 1945 As A Working Example Of Maritime Heritage, Being The Last Surviving Steam Vessel Of The Port Of London Authority's Fleet And One Of Only Three Surviving Steam Vessels Left Of The Many Which Were Once In Use On The River Thames And In The London Dock System. Brent Is Also One Of Only Three Tid Class Tug Boats Left Of 183 Built For The Navy As Part Of The War Effort.to Maintain The Engineering And Seafaring Skills Of The Past By Restoring And Operating The Boat And To Preserve And Display Her For The Public Benefit And Education Of All, By Sailing In Thames, UK And European Waters Where And Whenever Possible.
