NOTES FORMING PART OF THE FINANCIAL STATEMENTS FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 AUGUST 2023

  1. BASIS OF PREPERATION AND ACCOUNTING POLICES

  2. A) The accounts have been prepared under the historical cost convention and in accordance with applicable accounting standards.

  3. B) The company has taken advantage of the exemptions in Financial Reporting Standards NO.1 from the requirement to produce a cash flow statement on the grounds that it is a small company.

  4. C) The accounts have been prepared on the going concern basis.

  5. D) Voluntary income is received by the way of donations and gifts and is included in full in the Statement of Financial Activities when received. The value of services provided by volunteers has not been included.

  6. E) recognised in full in the Statement of Financial Activities in the year which they are receivables.

  7. F) Incoming resources from investments is included when receivable.

  8. G) Resources expended are recognised in the period in which they are incurred. Resources expended included attributable VAT that cannot be recovered.

  9. H) Support costs include central functions and have been allocated to activity cost categories on the basis of relevant sta� time.

  10. I) Governance costs include costs of the preparation and examination of statutory accounts, the costs of trustee meetings and cost of any legal advice to trustees on governance or constitutional matters.

  11. J) Unrestricted funds are donations and other incoming resources receivables or generated for the objects of the organisation without further specified purpose and are available as general funds.

Structures, governance and management

The IGREJA BATISTA DAS NACOES is a company limited by guarantee governed by its memorandum & articles of association. Company number 06997739.

The directors of the company are known as members of the Management Committee. All the new sta�, volunteers and Management Committee memebers must go through an induction process at the start of their work with IGREJA BATISTA DAS NACOES. This process aims to familiarise them with the aims, objectitves and structures of the organistation, as well as the policies and procedures which are liekly to be of relevence to their work.

The main actitivy of the organisation is a Church for the support for the Portuguese speaker’s community. Each area is managed by the Director, assisted by volunteers.

Objectives and activies

IGREJA BATISTA DAS NACOES’s aims and objectives are to provide services to Brazilian community, which will permit them to overcome social marginalisation and gain access to mainstream services, opportunities and entitlements in the UK, while maintaning their cultural identity within a globalised and multicultural society.

He is also responsible for the safeguarding the assets of the compaby and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities

This report has been prepared in accordance with the special provisions relating to small companies within part VII of the Companies Act 2007
