Thls year marks the 3rd Anniversary of the opening of Stourbridge Glass Museum. After many delay5 and
challenges, including Covld. the brand-new Slourbridge Glass Museum opened to the Publ￿ for the first ts'me on
SaluTday 9 April 2022 and was formally opened by HRH The Duke of Gloucester on 19 April 2023.

l am dellghted that some ol the be81 pieces of the world-renowned StourbrSdge glass collectlon are now on display
al the new museum in the heart ol the Glass Quarter_ The ¢olle¢tlon is one of the finest holdings of Bdtlsh and
Inlernalional 17th, 18th, 19th and 20th century glass In the world We have a purpose-built buildlng In a perfect,
konic locallon with room for expansion In the futuie. In March 2025 we had a brand-new stale ollhe art sloreroom
bulll wilh a 6,000 ilem capaclty whlch wlll allow us In due course to be able to show visitors the whole of Ihe gla58
collection and not just Ihat on dlsplay in Ihe galleries Since opening the charlty has acqulred over 1.000 new
pieces for the museum with more pleces being donaled or bequeathed to us. The new museurn wlll not only
celebrate the skills of local people and Integrate wlth the other I￿al IDurlst attracllons but will guarantee the future
ot Ihe world- far￿u5 glass collecllons lor generalion31o Come.
Our appllcatlon lor Accredilation was approved in July 2023 and the nexl step wlll be Designalion lor which we
have already registered and hope to achleve this shortly. Qur new Membership scheme was announced In
February 2025 where we offer a range ol option3, startlng at £15 per annum, to 8uiI Individuals, families and
buslnesses, each wlth its own unique perks e.g. free museum access, excluslve event Invilalions, discounts on
purthases and venue hire.
The high rise in energy costs had a major impact on the hol glass studio where gas prices increased fiom £12,OCNJ
p.a. lo over £85,000 p.a. Al Ihelr own cost Allisler Malcolm Glass Limited privately invested over £100.000 to
convert the hot glass studio lo all electfic. The developments not onty created a buzz amongst the Trustees bul
funders also noliced and admlred the ground breakin9 achievements. The charity th8n manag8d lo secure fundlng
for a swathe of energy saving measures for the building induding the Inslallallon of solar panels in January 2025.
Along wlth othef energy saving devices costs have been saved and our carbon foolprinl drastically reduced. Wth
thanks to Allister Malcolm, who ploneered the UK'S first all-8lectric, ren8wable-energy hol shop and Terri Malcolm
for her eco-frlendly driftwood workshops. despite fierce opposltlon Includlng The Nallonal Trust and Natural
Hlstory Museum, were awarded Mus&ums+Herita9e Suslainable Prolect Of The Year, an example of a capilal
project ￿lch has embedded sustainable lechnology throughout. Th8 judges wer8 impressed by the excellent.
exhaustlve work to Iransform the carbon position ol a high energy traditlonal craft resulting in an impressive world
first carbon neutral glass sludlo. Dubbed Ihe°Oscars oflhe Museum$ World. the ceremony was held at The Hilton
Hotel. Park Lane. London.

The British Glass Foundation, launched in November 2010, arose out of proposals by Dudley MBC in
2LK)9 to close 8roadfield House Glass Museum. home to the Internationally renovm8d Slourbridge glass
collection, and b8came a key partner alongsKJe Dudley Council and Complex 08¥8lopm8nt Prolecls
Limlted In creating a new purpose buill faclllty. wlth bigger and morè flexlblé 8xhlblllon Space, on Ihe
site of the fomier Stuart & Sons Glassworks In the heart of thè Glass Quarter.
The Trustees negotsated a 125 year Lease on th8 mus8um bullding: a 125 year Loan Agreemenl for
the glass collectlons and a 125 year Lease of the adjoinlng bulldlngs to be used lor businesslcraft units
that will bring In renlal Incom& to help toward$ the running costs of the museum lo ensure sustalnablllty
for the future. The1888e$ were s￿ned and exchanged on l May 2019.
The Nallonal Lotlery Heritage Fund confimied kn Jun8 2018 that it would provide funding of £980,000
towards the Intern81 fit-out of the new museum and in December 2021 they agreed lo in¢rease their
grant by £76.SYJO. In March 2024 they agreed a further £249.284 to 8S8isI wilh our energy Saving plans,
new storeroom and improvements to the museum car park taking the overall grant to £1,306,184. In
March 2024 we also heard that we had been successful with our grant appllcatlon to Arts Council
England for £249.000 to enable us to become more eco-frlendly, efficient and innovative and race
towards net Zero wilh lo￿ ren8wabl8 energy. a first for 8 UK gl8$s studio. Match funding was ralsed
Irom various Trusts ond Foundatlon8 wilh the help of our Fundralslng Consultant, Jacqul Walson.

glass $ludio to See highty skill8d glass makers In actlon. From lalks and tours lo glassmaking workshops
we offer activities for everyone Includlng lunnel lours. wine and gin tasling and canal walks.
Alexander Good9er, Museum Director, took up hls role on 2 October 2022 havin9 previously been
Museum Manager at The Transport Museum in Dundee Alexander has made a signlflcanl contrlbullon
to the museum havlng Increased visitor numbers and Income; oblalned an Alcohol Li¢en¢e and
arranged AA slgnage to the museum. We are No 1 on TripAdvlsor and also recelved their 2023 and
2024 Travellers Choice Awards. Alexander has Secured many grants for the museum and was
instrumental In securlng the funding from Arts Council England. We are dellghted Ihal in May he
secured funding of £25,000 to restore one of the panels in the i¢oni¢ Churchill Screen for Ihe VE Day
80th Annlv8rsary - the hlstoric Battle Of The Atlantlc panel. The project supported by the Department
lor Digital, Cufture, Media & Sport and Museum Developmenl Midland5 will culminate in a permanent
display of the panel at the museum alongside community events marklng the 80th anniversary of Victory
In Japan Day.

Vase which is on dlsplay at the museum along with the Amphora Vase and Auldjo Jug whlch she also
engraved. She has recently completed her version of the Blue Vase, in the Naples Museum, which was
unveiled on 17 May at the museum.
The 200 guests were glven a compllmentary copy of the book 'The Blue Vase.. the 2024 interpretation
of an iconic cameo by contemporary Stourbridge glass artisans wrltten by Graham Fisher MBE. The
book Is available to purchase from Ihe museum with all monies going to the 8rlllsh Gla88 Foundation.

Redpalh, The Carnival Glass Soclety, Pate De Verre and The CGS New Horizon5 exhibition. Chris Day's
exhibition Storytell&r In Glass. ran trom February to June 2025 and this was replaced wlth our current exhibllSon
Strike A Match by Elllot Walker and Bethany Wood which runs until 8 NoVem￿r. The Gieener Glass ExhlbllSon
h8s been extended to 17 January 2026 and demonstrates the transformalive power of recycled materials. luming

Tours of the tunnels beneath the museum are undertaken by a team of volunteers and these are
extreme￿ popular and sell out qulckly. We have been bequealhed 61)0 iterrts of UTanium glass, some
1$ on display in the museum and some In the tunnels as they "glow in Ihe dark", A concept has been
drawn up by Slmwor% In Klngswlnford for inlerpretalion in the tunnels and we are worklng on grant
appiicatlon8 fr>r the funding for this.

General inlomialion and basis of preparallon
Brrtish Glass Foundation is a charitable company in the United Kingdom. In the event of Ihe charty being
wound up, the liablloty In respect of the guarantee is limiled to £1 per member of the charlty. The address
ol the regislered office Is given in the charity information on page 1 01 these financial stat8m8nts. The
nature of the charity's opeTalions and prknclpal actlvltle8 are the promotion, advancement, encouragement
and support of Ihe uaft of glass making.
The Gharity conslilule8 a public benefit entity. The financial stat8ments have been prepared In accordance
wolh Accounting and reporting by Chari118s Statement of Recommended Practice applicable lo charities
Pfeparfng their accounts in accordanc8 with the Financlal Reportlng Standard applicable in the UK and
Republic of Ireland (FRS102 (issued In October 2019)> the Financial Reporting Standard 102, the
Companles Acl 2006 and UK Generally Accepted Practice as it applies from 1 January 201 S.
The financial statements ar8 prepared on a going concern basis under the historical cost convention. The
flnanclal stalemenls a￿ prepared in sterling which is the functlonal currency of the Charity and rounded
to the nearest £.
The charltable company h8S taken advantage of Ihe opllon provided in SORP to use headings In the
Stalen*nt of Financial Activity that are appllcable lo Its operations ralher than reporting on an activity

of income and expenditure lor 12 months from aulhorislng these financial statements. The budgeted
Income and expenditure is sufficienl with the level of rèserves for the charlty lo be able to continue as a
golng conckrn.
Funds
Unreslrided lunds are avallable for use al the discretion of the trustees in furtherance of the general
objecllves of the charily and ￿lCh have nol been deslgnaled for other purposes.
Deslgnated funds comprise unrestricted lunds Ihat have been set aslde by Ihe Iruslees for particular
purposes. The aim and use of each deslgnaled fund Is set out in Ihe notes lo Ihe finan¢ial statements,
Reslrkled funds are funds which are to be used in accordance with specific reslrlctions Imposed by donors
or whiGh have been ralsed by the charity for particular purposes. The cost of raising and adminlstering
such funds are charged agalnst the specific fund. The aim and us8 of each restricted fund Is set out In the
noles lo Ihe financial statements.
VAT
Value added lax is not recoverable by the charitable company, and as such is included in the relevant
osts in the Stalemenl of Financial Aclivilies and tangible fixed assels.

of those Conditions is within the control of the charity and it is probable that they will be fulfilled.
No amount Is Included in Ihe financial statements for volunteer tlme ITr Ilne with Ihe SORP.
Income from tradlng aclivilies include3 income earned from fund￿¢Sing events and tradlng activities to
raise funds for the charity. Income 13 ieceived in exchange for supptying goods and servlces In order to
relse funds and is recognised when enlltiement has occurred.
The charity receives various government grants. Income from government and other grants are
re¢ogni3ed al lair value when Ihe charity has entitlem8nl after any performance Conditions have been met.

All expendilure is accounted for on an accruals b8sis and has been cla88ified under headings that
aggregate all costs related to Ihe category. Expendllure 18 recognised where there Is a legal or
constructlve obligalion to mak8 payments lo Ihlrd parties, il is probable thal the settlemenl will be required
and the amount of the obligallon can be measured reliably.
Irrecoverable VAT 1$ ¢harged as an expense against Ihe activity for which expendlture arose.
Support costs allocallon
Support Costs are Ihose that as8lst the work of Ihe charlty but do not dlrectly represent charitable actlvlties
and include office costs. governance costs. admlnlstrati¥e payroll costs. They are Incurred directly In
support of expenditure on Ihe objects of the charity. W+here support costs cannot be directty attributed to
particular headings Ihey have been allocated to cost of ralsing funds and expenditure on charitab
activities on a basls consistent with use of the fesotsrces. Pfemises and other overheads have been
allocated on a perrnnlage use of resources basls.
Fund-ralslng costs are those incurred in seeking voluntary contributions and do not Indude the co$t$ of
dlsseminaling informallon in support of the charitabl8 actfvllles.
