## **Brief Financial Overview:**

## **Receipts:**

During this period the charity was in receipt of donations from a number of individuals, companies and charities in support of our aims. The school community also raised considerable sums with their fundraising activities.

## **Achievements:**

During this period the charity were pleased to be in a position to provide grants for various resources and equipment for the school in support of our pupils continued learning.

This included:

- Supporting the continued licence costs associated with the provision of safe work experience opportunities within a retail environment;

- Continued support for the Castle School Bike Project which included the purchase of  various pieces of equipment linked to the storage and maintenance of the bikes purchased last year; the use of which are enjoyable for all pupils and in turn led to Castle School being named the regional Bikeability School;

- For the second year supporting the continued Choir development by external specialists culminating in another Better Together Concert held at West Road Concert Hall – the hire costs being supported by ticket sales and CSCA;

- For a second year supporting the development costs of the 6[th] Form Horticulture Project in support of our older pupils continued development of daily living skills; plus additional costs related to a new shed base and composting area with the development of a mobile handwash station and the purchase of various gardening tools.

- The purchase of a new Soundbeam which was funded via a £10,000 donation from St John’s College School PTA.  This enhanced the music curriculum for all Castle School pupils;

- The Building of a new sensory memory garden in Castle School grounds was completed in September 2023 and during this financial year we have been able to provide plaques to commemorate former pupils, allowing our current pupils to remember their friends that are no longer with us.

- Via general fundraising we have been able to provide a grant of over £9,000 to purchase a substantial number of reading books which our young pupils are enjoying.

Our accounts also include the cost of our Parent Kind subscription which includes indemnity and public liability insurance.

## **Summary:**

The trustees are pleased to report that this period was another highly successful time for CSCA and Castle School resulting in the need for this written report again.
