The CMW Charitable Trust

Registered Charity no. 1139092

Report of the Trustees for the year ended 30th June 2025

The Objects of the Charity are the Advancement of the Christian Religion and such other compatible charitable purposes for public benefit as the Trustees shall in their absolute discretion think fit.

The Charity was founded by the late Miss Constance May Walker who died in April 2016 and whose lifetime gifts and bequest to the Charity have supplied most of its capital which has been supplemented by gifts from past and current trustees. During the year a further £10,000, on which £2,500 was received in Gift Aid, was given by trustees. The Charity does not seek donations from the public. The Charity makes grants from its investment income in furtherance of its Objects.

The Charity’s Grant Making Policy: each trustee may suggest potential beneficiaries which are recognised or excepted charities whose aims and operations are consistent with Christian teaching, but which may serve, support or help people regardless of creed, culture or age. Grants may be paid to local Churches, to individuals to meet known needs and to registered charities which enable the recipients to maintain and extend their work serving their communities for the benefit of people in need. Wherever possible trustees maintain contact with beneficiaries to understand how our grants are used.

The active Trustees during the year were Dorothy Macro, Julian Macro, Alexander Macro, Hilary Garcia and Jay Garcia: a further trustee, Claire Macro, was on medical leave of absence. The Trustees continue to consult regularly, no trustee received any expenses or other remuneration. Seeking to uphold high Environmental, Social and Governance standards in the light of our Objects, and the wishes of the donors of our funds, the charity’s investments are in the BNY Mellon Responsible Global Equity Income Fund Newton X shares, the COIF Charities Ethical Fund Income units and the Charities Property Fund.

The Charity’s Income from investments in the year was £83,200. Grants made amounted to £68,900; investment management and bank fees amounted to £5,600; there were no other expenses. The Charity only keeps money in reserve to meet commitments already made or implied and so does not need or have a specific reserves policy. The charity has no employees.
