## The CMW Charitable Trust

_Registered Charity no. 1139092_

## Report of the Trustees for the year ended 30th June 2021

The Objects of the Charity are the Advancement of the Christian Religion and such other compatible charitable purposes for public benefit as the Trustees shall in their absolute discretion think fit.

The Charity was founded by the late Miss Constance May Walker who died in April 2016 and whose lifetime gifts and bequest to the Charity have supplied most of its capital which has been supplemented by gifts from past and current trustees. The Charity does not seek donations from the public. The Charity makes grants from its investment income in furtherance of its Objects.

The Charity’s Grant Making Policy: each trustee may suggest potential beneficiaries which are recognised or excepted charities whose aims and operations are consistent with Christian teaching, but which may serve, support or help people regardless of creed, culture or age. Grants may be paid to local Churches, to individuals to meet known needs and to registered charities whose work is in the United Kingdom or overseas to relieve poverty, promote health and/or education.

The Trustees during the year were Dorothy Macro, Julian Macro, Alexander Macro, Claire Macro, Hilary Garcia and Jay Garcia. The Trustees continue to consult regularly, this year largely by email because of Covid-19 restrictions; no trustee received any expenses or other remuneration. Seeking to uphold high Environmental, Social and Governance standards in the light of our Objects, and the wishes of the donors of our funds, the charity’s investments are in the Newton Sustainable Global Equity Income Fund, the COIF Charities Ethical Fund and the Charities Property Fund.

In the year ended 30th June 2021 the Charity also received capital gifts of £10,000.00 on which Gift Aid tax was reclaimed in the sum of £2,500.00.

The Charity’s Income from investments in the year was £56,488. Grants made amounted to £53,040; investment management and bank fees amounted to £4,330; there were no other expenses.

The Charity only keeps money in reserve to meet commitments already made or implied and so does not need or have a specific reserves policy. The charity has no employees.

Grants were paid to Churches and charitable organisations working in the United Kingdom, the Middle East, El Salvador, Kenya, Zambia and Zimbabwe. The grants were made to enable the recipients to maintain and extend their work serving their communities for the benefit of all.

**Independent Examiner’s Report to the Trustees of the CMW Charitable Trust (Charity number 1139092) on the attached Accounts for the year ended 30 June 2021**

**Respective** The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts **Responsibilities of** and consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144 of **Trustees and** the Charities Act 2011 (the Charities Act) and that an independent **Examiner** examination is needed.

It is my responsibility to:

   - examine the accounts under section 145 of the Charities Act,

   - to follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Charity Commission (under section 145(5)(b) of the Charities Act, and

   - to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.

- **Basis of Independent** My examination was carried out in accordance with general Directions

- **Examiner’s Statement** given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a ‘true and fair’ view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.

**Independent** In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention **Examiner's Statement**

1. which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in, any material respect, the requirements:

   - to keep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act; and

   - to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the Charities Act

   - have not been met ; or

2. to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
