UK based actvites

Two new Trustees joined the UK Board of Trustees; Benjamin Bell, a Paramedic & Vera Hau, born and raised in Malawi, but now working in the UK as an International Recruitment Officer for Nottingham Trent University

A new website was developed to promote the corporate identity of the charity, reestablishing the brand and to support Communications and maximise opportunities for funding

Successfully procured, developed, and implemented a new production suite for VF which will facilitate efficient ways of working and administration for the teams based in the UK and Malawi as well as supporting effective communication between the teams

Successful fundraising drives including the securing of a new donor willing to support the funds required for the Mwanyama Clinic upgrade to a Dispensary

Development of an International Volunteer Programme piloted with two healthcare workers:

Ben Bell, now a Trustee, who used his experience as a Paramedic to offer advice and guidance as well as healthcare interventions during his placement. Rosalind Rashid, a Medical Student, who worked alongside Clinic staff to support care delivery as well as enhancing her own learning as part of her elective placement in her final year of study
Malawi local actvites

Successful attainment of international NGO Registration from Ngora for Village Foundations, this will facilitate opportunities within Malawi previously not available to the Charity

Plans were finalised for upgrading the current healthcare clinic to a Dispensary, key stakeholders were engaged to ensure support for the venture, as well as the funding required to commence the build.

Lennie Chembezi was recruited as volunteer Administrator. This has released clinical time for Zoe Lawrence to further develop the health care programme

District Nursing Programme developed and implemented, travelling to approximately 7 other villages surrounding Mwanyama, offering care and support to families in their locality and who need more intensive support than once per week at the clinic

Jon Thornton (CEO) & David Townsend (Trustee) visited Malawi at the beginning of the year, and took with them 2 suitcases full of medication and supplies for VF clinic, kindly donated by UK sponsors

With the increase of supplies and medication, VF now receives approximately 150200 patients each Thursday. VF, by providing financial support to the nearby Monkey Bay Community Hospital, facilitates 8 team members (including nurses and district officers) , to visit Mwanyama each week to see to patients travelling in from across 7 villages in the region.

The VF nursery continues to offer its 30 children much needed education, preparing each child for the village primary school. As part of its service to the nursery VF provides financial support for food to each child, for each day they attend the nursery ( porridge and fruit )
Other actvites

Village Foundations continued to support 16 orphans from Myanmar with much needed food, clothing, and educational resources

VF also contributed financially towards the building of a hospital in India

Independent examiner’s report to the trustees of Village Foundations
I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the Village Foundations for the year ended 31 December 2024.
Responsibilities and basis of report
As the charity trustees of the Trust you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (‘the Act’).
I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
Independent examiner’s statement
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:

accounting records were not kept in respect of the Trust as required by section 130 of the Act; or
-
the accounts do not accord with those records.
I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
