The charity is governed by its Statue adopted in 2010. 

## **2. Structure, Governance and Management** 

## **Governing structure** 

The charity is established as a trust under the direct supervision of ‘The Nativity of the Mother of God’ Romanian Orthodox Parish Boston, Lincolnshire; and operates in accordance with its governing document. 

## **Appointment of trustees** 

Trustees are appointed by Parish Council of ‘The Nativity of the Mother of God’ Romanian Orthodox Parish Boston, Lincolnshire. 

## **Trustee induction and training** 

New trustees are provided with an induction covering: 

- the charity’s objectives and activities 

- trustee responsibilities 

- basic financial oversight 

Ongoing guidance is provided as needed. 

## **Decision-making** 

The trustees meet as many times is necessary to review activities, finances, and strategic direction. Day-to-day operations are managed by the Chair and the volunteers. 

## **3. Objectives and Activities** 

## **Charitable purposes** 

The charity’s purposes are: 

To advance the Christian Orthodox Religion in Lincolnshire, for the benefit of the public (regardless of ethnic origin) through: 

- -the holding of religious services 

- -public celebrations of religious festivals 

- -distributing literature on Christian Orthodox Religion. 

To provide a place of worship for all who wish to attend the Christian Orthodox services and celebrations. 

## **Main activities** 

During the year, the charity carried out the following activities: 

- Supporting regular religious services and gatherings as necessary 

- Prayer meetings and study sessions 

- Community outreach and pastoral care where it was asked to participate 

- Supporting the religious education for adults and/or children 

## **Public benefit** 

The trustees confirm that they have had regard to the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit. 

The charity provides public benefit by: 

- offering open access to worship and religious teaching 

- supporting community cohesion and wellbeing 

- providing pastoral support to individuals in need 

## **4. Achievements and Performance** 

During the reporting period, the charity: 

- Continued to hold regular weekly services attended by approximately 90 people, and on Orthodox Easter by more than 800 people from Lincolnshire. 

- Delivered 20 religious events outside of those weekly services. 

- Provided pastoral support to members of the community via the parish priests. 

- Undertook outreach activities including food support for the Foodbank organised by Boston Anglican Church. 

- Supporting missionary and charity activity of the Romanian Orthodox Archdiocese of Great Britain and Northen Ireland. 

The trustees consider that these activities have furthered the charity’s objectives effectively. 

## **5. Financial Review** 

## **Overview** 

The charity’s total income for the year was £35,152.00 (for the period 5 May 2024 – 4 May 2025). 

## **Principal sources of income** 

- All the income is made by the parish and the parish members of the Boston Orthodox Community 

## **Expenditure** 

Expenditure (£15,718.00) primarily related to: 

- Venue costs / utilities 

- Religious activities and events 

- Administrative expenses 

## **Reserves policy** 

The trustees aim to maintain a modest level of reserves sufficient to cover approximately 3–6 months of operating costs. 

At year end, the charity held reserves of £ 10,000. 

## **6. Plans for Future Periods** 

The charity plans to: 

- Continue regular religious services and activities 

- Expand community outreach initiatives 

- Strengthen engagement with members and volunteers 

- Ensure financial sustainability 

## **7. Risk Management** 

The trustees have considered the main risks facing the charity, including: 

- Financial sustainability 

- Dependence on voluntary donations 

- Operational continuity 

Appropriate measures are in place, including: 

- Regular financial monitoring 

- Maintaining reserves 

- Trustee oversight of key decisions 

## **8. Statement of Trustees’ Responsibilities** 

The trustees are responsible for preparing the Trustees’ Annual Report and financial statements in accordance with applicable law and regulations. 

The trustees confirm that: 

- accounting records are properly kept 

- the accounts comply with the governing document 

- appropriate policies and controls are in place 

## **9. Independent Examination** 

The accounts have been subject to an independent examination in accordance with legal requirements.
