SKEGNESS SPORTS ASSOCIATION LIMITED {A company limited by guarantee) TRUSTEES REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 JULY 2022 5kegne55 Sports Association was incorporated in 2010 with the objectives of providing facilities for sport, recreation or other leisure time occupation in the interests of Social welfare with the object of impToving the conditlDns of life and promoting the physical and social development of the people of Skegness and surrounding areas regardless of race, gender, disability, sexual orientation, level of proficiency or age. Objectives and Activities The aims of Skegness Sports Association are to provide facilities for sport, recreation or other leisure time occupation in the interests of social welfare. The main activities undertaken to achieve these objectives are football and rugby union outdoors and a range of indoor activities ranging from alternative education for young people, chLJrch groups, yoga/pilates and a popular venue for social parties, events, meetings and community gatherings. Many groups have made the facilities their home which gives them stability and the ability to plan sustainably for the future. Skegness Sports Association's facilities are located on Wainfleet Road, Skegness PE25 2EL and are approximately half a mile from Skegness town centre on the A52. Achievements and Performance Skegness Sports Association hires football and rugby pitches to local clubs, organisations and the local comtnunity mainly for training, matches and some 5POrting events. The venue and staff have worked hard to positively recover from the effect of COVID and re-establish healthy revenue streams and working relationships with a number of local sporting organisations. 2022 marked the first year in the last three where the site wasn't affected by COVID in financial year. Recovery on income generation appears healthy. Operating expenditure costs have increased and are expected to continue to do soon regards utilities, staff salaries, insurance and pitch and building maintenance cost lines. The most notable cost increase is in relation to sports pitch maintenance which includes the 3G all-weather facility as well as natural grass playing pitches. The slte experienced some workforce changes in April 2022. A long-established Site Supervisor resigned but remains on the payroll of the organi5ation. A new Site Supervisor and Attendant were appointed in March/April 2022. Both employees have settled in well to their new roles and established a Small but close-knit team. Structure, Governance and Management Skegness Sports Association is governed by its Memorandum and Articles of Association and the charity is registered as 'Skegnes5 Sports Association Limited" The charity number is 1138838 and the limited company number is 7321672. Trustees Each member shall nominate two persons to act as trustees of the Company. One of the trustees nominated by East Lindsey District Council shall be Chairman of the trustees at any given time. The number of trustee5 of the Company shall not be less than three but (unless otherwise determined by ordinary resolution) shall not be subject to any maximum. Every trustee must sign a declaration of willingness to act as a charlty trustee of the Company before he or she is eligible to vote at any meeting of the trustees. Flnancial Review During the year total income was £92.461 including £15,000 donated income arising from the deemed rental cost of the premises a Wainfleet Road. Total Expenditure was £90,035 again including the deemed rental cost of £15,000. The surplus for the year was £2,426, The total funds held by Skegness Sports Assoclation at 31st July 2021 was £114,279. In accordance with Company law, as the company's directors, we certify that: So far as we are aware there is no relevant information of which the company's independent examiner is unaware; and A5 the Directors of the company, we have taken all the steps that we ought to have taken in order to make ourselves aware of any relevant information and to establish that the company's independent examiner is aware of that information. Respective responslbllltles of trustees and examiner The trustees (who are also the directors of the company for the purposes of company lawl are responsible *or the preparation of the accounts. The trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144121 of the Charities Act 2011 and that an independent examination is needed. Having satisfied myself that the charity is not subject to audit under company law and is eligible for independent examination, it is my responsibility to.. examine the accounts under section 145 of the 2011 Act to follow the procedures laid down in the general Dlrections given by the Charity Commission under section 1451Sllbl of the 2011 Act to state whether particular matters have come to my attention Basis of independent examiner's report My examination was carried out in accordance with the general Directions given by the Charity Commission. ACCOUNTING POLICIES 1.1 Basis of preparatlon of financial statement5 The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention. The financial Statements have been prepared in accordance with the Statement of Recommended Practlce ISORPI "Accounting and reporting by charities" effective l January 2015, applicable accounting standards and the Companies Act 2006. 1.2 Company status The charity is a company limited by guarantee. The members of the company are the Trustees named on page 3. In the event of the charity being wound up, the liability in respect of the guarantee is limited to £10 per member of the charity. 1.3 Fund accountlng General funds are unrestricted funds which are available for use at the discretion of the Trustees in furtherance of the general objectives of Skegness Sports Association and which have not been designated for other purposes. At 31 July 2022 all of Skegness Sports Association's funds were unrestricted. 1.4 Incoming resources All incoming resources are included in the Statement of financial activities when Skegness Sports Association has entitlement to the funds, certainty of receipt and the amount can be measured with sufficient reliability. Donated Services are included in income at a valuation which is an estimate of the financial cost borne by the donor where such cost is quantifiable and measurable. Other income 15 recognised in the period in which it is receivable and to the extent the goods have been provided or on completion of the service. 1.5 Resources expended Expenditure is accounted for on an accruals basis.
