I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act. **Independent** I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have **examiner's statement** come to my attention in connection with the examination which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect: - the accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act; or - the accounts did not accord with the accounting records; or - the accounts did not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a ‘true and fair’ view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination. The focus of our activities is lo educate & to entertain the Eocal residents of North Somersel and produce a wide range of events and aclivilies. We welcome a range of people regardless of personal background, faith, gender or personal circumstances & we believe this philosophy of openness lo all enriches all those involved with sharin skills & knowled In planning our activities for each year we keep in mind the Charity commission guidance on public benefit at our trustee meetings. We are grateful for the many hours our volunteers pul in lo develop and ensure the society grows. Wthout this valuable contribution of lime, energy and experb"se. we would not have been able lo continue to achieve so much Para 1.38 Contribution made by volunteers Other Achievements and Performance SORP referen(* Following the ups and downs of 2023. the committee decided lo approach 2024 with caution. Summary of the main achievements ofthe charity, identifying the difference the chanty's work has made to the circumstances of its beneficiaries and any wider benefits to society as whole. Para 1.20 Pre-covid. we would usually perform our Spring show al The Playhouse however, following the large losses the previous year, il was decided we would hold a smaller fundraising concert in the Summer. For the early part of the year, we decided to try something new and the society rehearsed as a choir for a few months unb'l the Summer concert rehearsals started. This was an opportunity to work on harmonies and foi members lo try things they maybe wouldn't previously. New members also joined the society to try singing in a choir. The choir was a good foundation for the Summer Concert, held at Sl Georges Community Centre in June 2024. We raised a good amount of funds across the two shows perfom)ed and members really enjoyed taking part. Following the success of Sister Act al The Princess Theatre & Arts Centre in Burnham, we decided to make Bumham our new home for our Aulumnwinter shows for the forseeable future. This year we performed 'The Wedding Singerf and the show brought the '80s vibes, lo the town. Members and audiences really enjoyed the show and it made a healthy profit for the s(Kiety. Our child members. Spectrum, performed their first'big, show in Burnham in March - Into the Woods Jr. The childTen really enjoyed the experience of being on a big stage again. The children then held their own Summer Concert in Weston al The Theatre in the Hul. Lols of the adult members came to support the children and both shows made good profits. The money raised this year was planned to be reinvested in hiring a professional sel for next year's big show in Burnham. Aside from our shows, we held our annual fvndraiser 'Musicals 8ingo' in March whieh again was a huge success. The children in Spectrum started a tuckshop which the children are enjoying as well as raising small funds for the society. For our social evenls, we held our annual Dinner Dance awards ceremony and there were other small events throughout the year for both performing and social members lo attend- such as a Christmas Party and attending other local societies shows as a group. We would have liked to have worked together with the children on a project during the year bul it didn't quite happen. We have made il a priority for next year and ongoing as we want lo keep continuity between the children and the adults. The cost for stsging shows in local theatres continues to increase and the society is constantly looking for opportunities to increase their funding through fundraising and grant applications This would help relieve the pressure on the current funding streams of contributions from members and ticket sales.
