In 8118re8s the Board of Trustees works for the sole public benefit as defined by the Char¢ty Commission.
Home-slart Craven offers a volunteer befriending service in the home lo support families ￿th young
children. This is supplementeé wth a range of group activities. The strategy is one of earty support and is
therefo￿ aimed at vulnerable families wth children under the age of five. Horne￿tart Craven's aims are.. lo
Bupport families in their homes wlh a vtew to improving their emotional, mental and physical health. lo give
parents the opportunity to develop their parenting skills, lo increase the confidence and independence of
vulnerable families by building strong and sustainable soaal networks and by harnes￿ng the volunteer
Gapa¢ity Yéithin the local Gommunity. to develop a Gulture of famllles 3UPPOning EaGh othei In Ihc4
community, to support familie5 in accessing health and sodal care service5, to provide high quality
volunteering opportunities to enable those who engage to gain experience which VAII benefrt both the
families they support and themselves in terms of general well-being and provision of more opportunilie5 to
access p8id employment.

Home-slart Craven aims lo help increase the confidence and empower families by building strong and
sustainable soaal nehvoTks for vulnerable families by hamessing volunteer capauty within the local
community. This is part of an early intervent￿on strategy and is therefore targeted at families wth children
under the age of five. Families, with the support of their vohjnleer. are more likely to access health and
social care services, have opportunities to develop their parenu.ng skills, grow conlidence and be more able
lo access activities and opportuntties in their comrnunilies. Home-start Craven also provide5 high-qualily
voILEnteering opportunities to enable those who engage to gain relevant experience to access employment
opportunities and to enjoy improved physical, emotional and manial well being.

In ils fourt88nth year of operation, Horn8￿18rt Craven has ¢￿tInued to offer support to families Ihroughoul
Craven and has consolidated links wth partnership agencles. The team works consislentty wlh members
of the local community lo promote the servic8 and raise awareness of the sCh￿e in a range of
locations. The number of referrals received continues lo rise, the aftermath of the CoMd-19 pandernic and
Gosl of Ilviny crisis continue lo influence dernand. Referrals received from a number of agencies and the
scheme is well placed in lenns of strategic development wthin family support provision in Craven. Staff
allend local netsvorking events and continue lo meet vlilh other Horne-start schernes throughout the county
lo share best practice and experiences and lo ensure that fijlure planning reflects the needs of the local
community. Throughout the year, Home-slart Craven has provided indwidual support lo 55 families,
benèfiting 199 people. In addition lo individual volunteer*ased suppori, the scheme has conllnuèd to
evelop a range of activities lo reduce isolatiory and loneliness in families and lo encourage healthy
lifestyles. 594 famili8s accessed the groups on 202314. In addits'on, Hom&Start Craven woths alongside the
local Aldi slore lo offer surplus fcK)d an(i household items lo families on a weekty basis and has worked in
partnership wth Pnnciple Trust lo provide family holidays for those in need of a break away from home.
Home-St8rt Craven continues lo recruit high calibre v(Aunleers and 7 volunteers attended our preparation
course in 2024. Volunteers report that they feel valued and are able lo use their training to access
employment opportunities to further Iheir own professional development. We are confident that we will be
able lo retain regular support for the famili88 Ntho arg referred lo us, or vtho self-refer. The scheme has
seGured funding from,. Children in Need. Albert Hunl, Henry Smith. Brelms. Two Ridings, Tesco
Groundworks, AWC, Yorkshir8 Dales Millenium Trust. Trusthouse, Bimon Trust, Garfield Weston,
Wharfedale Foundation and Craven Comrnunilies Together Partnership. to SUFPOrt funding for the next two
lo three years of op8ralion. We are confident that topup funding will be sourced from a number of smalbr
funders to ensure that the financial siluahon remains stable and the ch8ri1y wll thrive in the coming
years. Homestart UK have just completed a quality assurance process and Ihis has resulted in a very
poslllve report. The Truslees an¢J Staff would like to express theiT thanks to all volunteers, families, funders
and partnership ag8ncies foT Ihgir continu8d support ovgr thé past year. In addition, sincere thanks musl bè
given to tre trusts, charitable organisalions and personal donalions which have promded the financlal
support reqLbired to allow us to enjoy continued success.

As the charit￿5 trustees of the Company (and also its directors for the purposes of company la
you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of
the Companles Act 2006 ('the 2006 Act'l.
Having satisfied myself that the accounts of the Company are not required to be audited under
Part 16 of the 2006 Act and are eli8ible for independent examination, I report in respect of my
examinatlon of your charltys accounts as carrled out under sectlon 145 of the Charltles Act 201
{'the 2011 Act'l. In carryin8 Out my exarnination I have followed the Directions given by the
Charity Comrnis5ion under section 145(51 (bl of the 2011 Act.
Independent examlner's statement
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attentio
in connection with the examination givlng me cause to believe that in any material respect:
l accounting records were not kept in respert of the Trust as required by section 386 of
the Act,. or
2 the accounts do not accord with those records
3 the accounts do not comply with the accounting requirements of section 396 of the
2006 Act other than any requirement that the accounts give a 'true and fair view which
is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination,. or
4 the accounts have not been prepared in accordance with the methods and principles o
the Statement of Recommended Practice for accountin8 and reporting by charities
applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial
