Activities
The MGET has been set up to monitor and manage the environmental disciplines associated with the Mersey Gateway Project. The Trust vision is to promote for the benefit of the public the conservation, protection and improvement of the physical and natural environment of the Upper Mersey Estuary and related areas. This includes the ability for the Trust to bid for additional resources.
Objects: 4. THE CHARITY'S OBJECTS (THE OBJECTS) ARE TO PROMOTE FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE PUBLIC THE CONSERVATION PROTECTION AND IMPROVEMENT OF THE PHYSICAL AND NATURAL ENVIRONMENT OF THE UPPER MERSEY ESTUARY AND RELATED AREAS AND FOR THE AVOIDANCE OF DOUBT (AND WITHOUT PREJUDICE TO THE GENERALITY OF THE ABOVE) SHALL INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:4(1)(A) TO PROMOTE SALTMARSH MANAGEMENT FOR NATURE CONSERVATION PURPOSES, INCLUDING GRASSLAND MANAGEMENT BY LIVESTOCK GRAZING AND CUTTING, POOL AND CREEK MANAGEMENT AND ANNUAL MAINTENANCE WORK4(1)(B) TO ASSIST IN THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE MERSEY GATEWAY BIODIVERSITY MANAGEMENT PLAN4(1)(C) TO MANAGE LAND AS A LOCAL NATURE RESERVE4(1)(D) TO MONITOR FISH MOVEMENTS 4(1)(E) TO ADVANCE THE EDUCATION OF THE PUBLIC IN THE BIODIVERSITY OF THE UPPER MERSEY ESTUARY4(1)(F) TO PROMOTE, ORGANISE AND ENCOURAGE STUDY AND RESEARCH FOR THE ADVANCEMENT OF KNOWLEDGE OF BIODIVERSITY IN THE UPPER MERSEY ESTUARY.4(1)(G) TO BECOME A GRANT MAKING BODY TO OTHER CHARITABLE ORGANISATIONS4(2) IN THESE OBJECTS THE -ÇÿUPPER MERSEY ESTUARY-ÇÖ MEANS THAT PART OF THE RIVER MERSEY FROM THE AETHELFREDA RAILWAY BRIDGE AT RUNCORN GAP TO ITS TIDAL LIMIT AT HOWLEY WEIR IN WARRINGTON INCLUDING THE AREA UP TO THE MEAN HIGH WATER MARK OF THE RIVER.4(3) IN THESE OBJECTS -ÇÿRELATED AREAS-ÇÖ MEAN THE FLOOD PLAIN ABOVE THE MEAN HIGH WATER MARK OF THE RIVER MERSEY WHICH IS ASSOCIATED WITH THE UPPER MERSEY ESTUARY TOGETHER WITH ASSOCIATED (BUT NOT NECESSARILY CONTIGUOUS OR ADJACENT) ESTUARINE HABITATS OF KNOWN NATURE CONSERVATION VALUE INCLUDING SALTMARSH, REEDBED AND OPEN WATER AND OTHER WATERCOURSES.
