Public engagement and outreach continued via Wildwood Escot’s red squirrel enclosure and via social media. Also invested in an education pack focusing on red squirrel conservation and wildlife, targeted at children and schools. Also launched the Exmoor National Park (ENP) project, working with ENP, landowners and the public to clear grey squirrels to allow natural regeneration of woodlands and to work towards the reintroduction of native red squirrels to the area. Helped to fund and roll out a grey squirrel trapping training course, in order to train interested members of the public how to safely and legally remove grey squirrels. |

Para 1.20 | A donation from Yeo Valley Token scheme and Waitrose charity donations enabled us to continue our work, as well as spreading the word of our charity and aims. A grant from the Forest Commission Woods into Management Forestry Innovation Fund has enabled the charity to launch the project with Exmoor National Park, hire trappers and officers from the local area and engage with the public about the project. The Grey Squirrel Management Training has allowed the charity to run a national course, endorsed by LANTRA, training registered members how to safely remove grey squirrels to a certified level. |
