E￿eX Cricket and Community Trust changed its name to Essex Cricket Foundation on 15 September 2015. The company is governed by its Memorandum and Artxcles of Association which Set out the obl￿ts and powers of the charitable company. It aims to create the Opportunity for all to participate and enjoy the game of cricket through Club and community experience. Additionally to give support to former Essex cricketers dLLe to financial hardship. ECF is the oÉficial Essex County Cricket Club charity and is an inte8Tal part of the Essex Cricket in the Community'5 (formerly Essex County Cricket Board's) strategy of 'lnspiritl8 Essex to Choose Cricket,, by providing grants across a whole range of cricketiiig abilities. The over-riding theme of 'Inspiring E55ex to Ch005e Cricket, embraces youn8 people to develop their ski]Is through the Graham Gooch Essex Cricket Academy, as well as local clubs mentoring young cricketer5. ECF'S programme.s embrace those with disabi]ities, those in deprived areas and the promotion of girl's and wornen'5 cricket. The main contsibutor to income of the Charity in previous years ha5 EEen the activities of the Graham Gooch Scholarship Fund that generated income of £36,950 and received donations of £176,072 during the year. ECF received donation5 of £40,381 into the General Fund. In 2022 ECF made donations of £88,170 (2021.. £86,580). The Club Academy wa5 the principal beneficiary fro)m the Graham Gooch 5cholar5hip F'und, but grants werc also made to the District Cricket Boards to enable them to coach and identify talented young cricketers who may eventually make an E55ex squad. FiTwicial support of £35,000 was provided for Street Cricket, Disability and Girl's cricket through program5 organised and facilitated by Essex Cricket in the Conununity, which would not have been possible before the forination of the Foundation. Totsl granL8 and donations made by the Foundation total £1,399,324 at 31 December 2022. In previous years the Trustees a8Teed to commit £47,000 to support community cricket projects. This include5 £35,000 for the Essex Crxcket in the Cominunity to carry out further Stree¢20, girls and disability progran￿lies, together with £2,000 which is provided to each of the Essex District Boards so that they can provide a developtnent programme for YoUn￿terS through coachins and competition. Additionally tlie Graham Gooch Scholaiship Fund supports the Club Acadetny with a minimum of £40,000 each year.

ESSEX CRICKIT FOUNDATION YEAR ENDED 31 DECEMBER 2022 TRUSTEES, ANNUAL REPORT Financial review Icontinuedl In 2022 the Foundation continued to play a key part in the development of programmes acr055 the county that linked into the Club's values of Excite, Engage and ETrhall￿, the key focus areas for the work from the Foundation support links in the following key areas, Mental and Physical Health, Conununity Cohesion and Education/Employability. Mental & Ph sical Health The Foundation support has enabled u5 to run a "One hit to another Hit" Rehab programme where around 20 individuals have been engaged via developing leadership, safeguarding and first aid skills to help develop confidence in their rehabilitation. One individual now volunteer$ 6 days a week on differeLIt cricket pro8ramme5. Our Sporting Memories prograrnn￿ in Dagenham supports people with early onset of demeiitia and also loneliness as highlighted below. 'rhe Foundation ha5 a150 supported the setting up of Walking Cricket hubs around the county with over 50 senior community residents ntsw able to break down isolation and lack of physical activity with weekly social cricket sessions. This ha5 now been linked up with Sporting Memorles focus on developing support around isolation and dementia. The project supports weekly coffee mornings encouraging people to meet and share life experiences. Communi Cohesion Linking up with our Breaking Boundaries and Core City work as well as linking up with taking the learning froni these areas the Foundation is supporEing community programs that help to develop creating cOn￿￿U￿1ty cohesion across Gender, Diversity and Age. These range frorn mentoring days to small groLLP activation and development. The work has started to See u5 link up wxth other stakehoIder5 using the simple form of Tape Bati cricket to bring the communities tosether. As well as this, the Foundation also supports a number of county wide competitions that bring people together from across the county to enjoy the benefit that cricket can have. In 2022 we had around 2000 participants. The Foundation has also supported the Desi Women programme that has helped inspire, train and engage over SOO women from F.thnic tninority groups. The Foundation has supported tlie programme by supporting community celebrations and Eestivals. An ever increasing area for the Foundation has been the work around supporting the refusee5 within the county with sessions, equipment and opportunities now provided in a number 0£ areas of the county. Education and Em lo abili In 2022 the Foundation again supported the development of Women and Girl's cricket this was via sUPPOIting the ru[￿ing of the county prograTll5 acr055 the county with over 150 girls engaged and with one of the beneficiaries going on to play for England in 2018. The Foundation a150 supported over 1800 g2rls engaged in Girl Guide badges and the delivery of cricket secondary schools to over 30 schools that lead to a World Cup tape ball final on Hainault rec in London. The Foundation is also a key supporter in the development of ability cricket helping us to not only run a club and county program with around 500 particlpants but also support in the traiiiing opportunitics for participants with coaching and other life skdl qualifications. The Foundation is a150 a key supparter of the county Academy helping it to be one of the leading counties for the developinent of playeTS linking into the club5 wider horne grown philosophy, the role of the Foundation is key in the availability of the Education support officeT for the players as they transition through the age groups not only in terms of cricket but their own educational into employment pathway too.

As a result of our prudent financkal management in the pasL we have in Pla￿ reserves which enable us to continue to operate for many months. but not indefinitely. ESSEX CRICKET FOUNDATION NOTES TO THE FINANCIAL STATEMENTS FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 DECEMBER 2022 I ACCOUNTING POLICIES 1.1 ACCOUNTING CONVENTION The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with Accouniing and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard for Smaller Entitie5 published on 16 July 2014, Financial Reporting Standard 102 IA {FR5102 IA) and the Companies Act 2006. Assets and liabiLities are initially recogni5ed at historical cost or tra￿action value unless otherwise stated in the relevant accounting policy note. 1.2 FUND AccouwfiNG The Charity maintains various type5 of Eunds as follows.. Unrestricted general funds are avaiIable for use at the discretion of the Trustees in furtherance of the general objectives of the Charity. Designated funds are unrestricted fur)ds that are set aside by the TTUStees out of unrestricted general fund5 for particular projects OT purposes. At the batance sheet date the Trustees had not established any debignated funds. Restricted funds are ￿ndS that can only be used for particular purposes within the objects of the Charity. Restrictions arise when specified by the donor or when funds are raised for particular restricted purposes. 1.3 INCOMING RESOURCES All incoming resources are include.d in the Statement of Financial Activities when the Charity is entitled to the income and the amount can be quantified with reasonable accuracy. 1.4 RESOURCES EXPENDED All expenditure is accounted for on an accruals basis and has been classified under headings that aggregate Costs relating to that category. Where cost5 cannot be directly attributed to particular headings they have been allocated to activities on a basis consistent with tlie use of tlie resources. Charitable expendkture comprises those coslg incurred by the Charity in the delivery of its activities and services. It includes both costs that can be allocated directly to such activities and those costs of an indirect nature necessary to support them. Governance costs represent expenditure incurred in the conipliance with statutory requirements. IS VALUE ADDED TAX The Charity's activitics are classified as exempt for the purposes of value added tax and the Charity is unable to reclaini the value addcd tax which it suffers on its expenses. Prepayments are valued at the amount prepaid. 1.8 CASH AT BANK Cash at bank includes cash and short term highly liquid investments with a short maturity of three months or less from the date of acquisition or opening of the deposit or similar account. 1.9 CREDITORS Creditors al'e recognised where the charity has a present obligation resulttng from a past event that is expected to result in the transfer of fund5 to a third party and the amount due to settle the obligation can be measured or estimated relsably. The Youth Trust provides grants to cricket clubs to support youth coaching programmes. This f￿nd has received income and ha5 niade grants since the pei'iod end date. The Essex County Cricket Club Benefit Trust provides grants to foTmer players who did not have benefits while at Essex County CTicket Club who have financial problems or require medical support.
