New Great Hollands Community Association (NGHCA) manage and runs Great Hollands Community Association (GHCC) for the benefit of the local community and residents. NGHCA is committed to enabling as many people as possible to make use of and benefit from the community centre, which the NGHCA manage and maintain on behalf of Bracknell Forest Council.

NGHCA fulfils these obligations through hiring the community centre to regular hirers who provide classes of a leisure, fitness and educational purpose. These classes are open to the whole community.

Section D Achievements and performance

Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year

The groups that have used the community centre for the whole year are Church of Pentecost, Great Hollands Free Church, Slimming World, Boxing Club, Yoga, Dog Training, Parenting Special Children, Craft Club, Art Group, Mother & Toddler, Bracknell Active Retired Association, Bracknell Forest Council Age UK Tai Chi and Fit for All.

A warm hub was started in October 2022 and has continued into the summer and still continues today.

Youth Club has resumed meeting under the control of Berkshire Youth Services. Please see below.

Share Food Bank has commenced operating in the GHCC on Saturday’s.

The Committee is also running Quarterly Quiz Nights.

We are still producing and delivering the quarterly Great Holland Matters Newsletter to every house in the Great Hollands Community.

In November 2024 we held an Annual General Meeting at which Mr. Gareth Mepham Area Youth & Community Manager Berkshire Youth Services gave a talk on how they were now using the Great Hollands Community Centre on Wednesday evening and how they were involving the local youth in their schemes both on site and away days. Candice Wright Community Development Officer explained her position at Bracknell Forest Council and how she was able to assist the running of the Community Centres. She answered questions from the gathered audience.

Section E Financial review

Brief statement of the charity’s policy on reserves

It is the NGHCA’s policy to maintain a balance of unrestricted funds to allow payment of 12 months basic operating costs and for future refurbishment and redecorating. The balance of £48,392 in May 2024 fulfils this requirement.

In normal times the main source of income is from centre hiring charges, mainly from regular groups and occasional users.

At May 2024 restricted funds of £2,036 was in respect of an amount paid to NGHCA by Great Holland Neighbourhood Organisation when it was disbanded in 2014 to ensure continuance of the newsletter ( Great Hollands Matters), which had been jointly funded by the 2 organisations. Up to this point in time we have not made any use of this sum as NGHCA has funded the costs of the newsletter on its own.

Responsibilities and As the charity's trustees, you are responsible for the preparation of the basis of report accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”).

I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
