TRUSTEES' REPORT
FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31st OCTOBER 2025
Charity Structure
Our Charity structure remains the same as previously reported. We fundraise and send grants to Runaperu, a Not-For-Profit organisation registered in Peru, solely for the benefit of people with disabilities living in the north of Peru.
Peru People does not employ staff, or own property and trustees give freely of their time. They met twice in the period covered by this report, a third meeting being postponed due to illness. Expenditure for fundraising activities, or other direct costs incurred for the running of the Charity, may be claimed by trustees. During this period, expenses of £200 have been granted towards the cost of a laptop and printer for Myrtle Martin to enable her to maintain contact with Runaperu.
Our Christian faith forms the basis of our work and through Runaperu we support people of all faiths and none.
Our objectives
To provide advice and support to people living with disability.
To enable people to access their community and to support the community in acceptance of people with disabilities.
To provide facilities where people can develop their abilities and access a peer group. To offer practical support, which may include help with accessing basic healthcare, offering physiotherapy, and educational activities with basic skills training.
Review of Activities
Peru People’s grants have enabled Runaperu to support disabled people in two rural communities in the north of Peru. In Montero, we support skills workshops and physiotherapy in the day centre we provided. The first floor functions as rental accommodation and three local tenants provide consistent local income. Increasing numbers of people attend our physiotherapy clinics, and there is some increase in home visits. Our grants have enabled Runaperu to support several people, especially children, with costs relating to city hospital and dentist appointments. We have provided mobility aids, incontinence pads, medication, and grocery parcels, according to individual needs. During this period we have been able to make extensive home improvements to 2 clients, enabling better mobility and access in their homes. Our grants enable Runaperu to employ 3 staff members, 2 of whom work in physiotherapy and one who teaches life skills to young disabled adults.
Risk Management
Myrtle Martin normally visits Runaperu at least once a year to check on the work and accounts. Due to illness, no visits were made to Runaperu during this period. However, daily contact via WhatsApp, and monthly workers reports, bank statements, copies of receipts and treasurer reports ensure that Peru People is aware at all times of the proper use of its funds.
Myrtle has missed seeing Runaperu’s clients in person, but again the members of Runaperu are in daily contact with her via WhatsApp messages and videos.
Safeguarding training has been undertaken by members of both organisations. Local worker Julissa Marchan liaises with the town council on safeguarding initiatives in Montero. Physiotherapist Leo Rodriguez is also covered by the local hospital’s protocols in his work in Santo Domingo.
Financial Review
Fundraising
We have had several opportunities for fundraising events and talks with various groups which continue to raise our profile and increase our donor base. We have held a public event in the local shopping mall. Our donors are known to us. We are now supported by four local churches.
Runaperu has engaged in several craft sales and local events, increasing local income and making efforts towards sustainability.

Grants
We received a generous grant of £3500 from Medical Mission Network (Reg Charity No. 1200235) towards costs of medical interventions. Avail (Reg. Charity No. 1017386) have granted £350 for a specific need. All other donations have been unrestricted and disbursements used in accordance with our aims and objectives. The balance of £26,868.53 is well above our reserve needs, and is due in part to increased income, and in part to local income in Peru. We are considering ways forward for its use, either in extra staffing needs or in extending Runaperu’s building.
Summary
In concluding this report, we are encouraged by further progress in 2025. The expansion of Runaperu’s activities and increase of clients has been matched by our increased funds and interest in the charity. We are also encouraged by Runaperu’s work towards some local sustainability. Most rewarding of all has been the physical progress made by several of its clients, across all age groups but most noticeably in the young children attending its physiotherapy clinics.

1 Accounting policies
1.1 Basis of preparation
The accounts have been prepared under the historical cost convention.
The accounts have been prepared in accordance with applicable accounting standards, the Statement of Recommended Practice, "Accounting and Reporting by Charities", issued in March 2005 and the Charities Act 2011.

INDEPENDENT EXAMINERS REPORT
I report on the accounts of the charity for the year ended 31st October 2025, which are set out on pages 5 to 7.
Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner
The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity's trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144(2) of the Charities Act 2011 (the 2011 Act) and that an independent examination is needed.
It is my responsibility to:
(i) examine the accounts under section 145 of the 2011 Act;
(ii) to follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Charity Commission
(iii) to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
Basis of independent examiner's report
My examination was carried out in accordance with the general directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a ‘true and fair view’ and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.
Independent examiner's statement
In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect:
(i) the accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the 2011 Act; or
(ii) the accounts did not accord with the accounting records
(iii) the accounts did not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a ‘true and fair’ view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.
I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
