The charity originally r8gislered as a charity on 25th October 1977 wllh charity number 506831. The
cornpany was incorporated as a private limited company on 151 July 2010. The company was registered as
8 charity on 13th September 2010 with charity number 1137974. On the 1 January 2011 all 3s5e15
Iran51erred lo the incorporalad charity numbeT 1137S74. The ¢harity is a ¢omp8ny limited by guarantee.
The governing document lor thè charity is the Artides of Association which were adopted on the 1st
Oclober 2010.
None ol the trustee$ has any benelicS81 interest in th& company. The le8m18 managerl by al least 5 truslee$
Ilypically 8} who are collectively responsible for the operational and non-¢peralional 8Ctivilies of the team.
Broadly the leam leader 15 responsible for op&r8tional a¢livilies and the chairman is responsiblè for non.
operational activities. The Iruslees 8cknowledge their re8ponsibiliti&s for idonlifying 8nd disc105ing
transactions with related parbes. However, no exlernal relat8d parties have been identified and none of the
Iruslees receive remuneration or other benefits. Tho Irusleès have assessed the major risks to which th&
chafily is exposed and are satisfied that 8y81ems are in place lo miligale exposure lo the rnaior risks.

Th8 objectiv88 01 Woodhead Mountain Rescue Te8m are 'relieve suffering and distress amongst perstsns
endangered by accidents or natural hazards prlmarily in upland and mountainous areas, by assisting the
police and the Peak Dislricl Mountain Rescue Organisation. The team is on8 017 Mountain Rescue Teams
based in the Peak Oislricl. Woodhead Mountain Rescue Team IWMRTI operales within the UK'S Peak
District Nalional Park as well as the rural areas ol South Yorkshire from our headquarters based near
HtkY*VOrth. The tearn h88 0 $8cond8ry location al Penislone Ambulance Slation which 18 Used lo store 2
vehicles and the teams water a$8el8.
Whilst we prim8rSly work lor South Yorkshirg Police & Yorkshire Ambulance S8IViC8 we 8re also caled lo
assist Derbyshire Conslabulary and Wesl Yorkshire Police. We also work Iroquenlly wllh the Yorkshire Air
Ambulance and HM Coa$lguard Se8r¢h and Rescue Helicopter. Many ol th8 incidents th81 the team deal
with have 1xwr￿d whil81 people have been partaking in 8 v8nely of outdoor activities., walking, climbing,
fefi runnin9, mountain biking, horse riding. We also assist the police in incidents where our skills can be
utlllsed in morè rural locations. Th8s8 predomlnanlly involve searching for vulnerable people Ihal have gone
missing lor various raasons and wh08e disappearance ha$ c8u$ed concem.
WMRT members have also been invglved in 8everal flood re8cue Incidents over the yeArs. Sheifield 2007,
Cumbrla 2015, York 2015 and the Todbrook Dam incident al Whaley Bridge in 2019. Addillonally, we have
assisted South Yorkshire rèsiden15 when the roads have been problornalic lor the professional emergency
services due to snow.
As with all other UK mountain rescue teams. the (eam 15 made up enlirely of volunt8ers who come from all
walks of life and give up their lirne Ireely. We have 47 opèrational mtrmber8 on the call out lisl plus
additional members and 5UPPOrters prowding oth&r roles.
Some ol our members also work for the full-lirne emergency service$ and hgallh aulhorilies. Currently
within our ranks ther8 arg doctors, paramedics, nurses and lire-fighlgrs. About 8 quarter of our rnembers
are specially Iiained and equipped lo provide a Swift water rescue section.
We also have one Mouniain Rescue Search Dfra England IMRSDE} handler with a gr8deL18eareh dog who
will be deploye¢J to inadertts with other teams anywhere in thè country if their services are required.
Team mambèis train on a regular basis to refresh and Improve on old skills as well as leaming [￿W ones.
These include advanc8d first aidlcasualty ¢aTe, rope rescue, search techniques, r8dio procedure. water
Safely, slrelchef handlin9, pquipmenl farniliarisalion and equipment maintan8ncè.

Apart from b8ing able lo reclaim VAT, WMRT receives no central fundlng from govemmenl and we rety
entirely on donations and grants lo r8i$e the rnoney we need to run the team. All funds raised ale used lo
improve the serwce we offer lo the public by investin9 in replacement medleal consumables, equiprnenl
mainlenancè and renewal, training and &quipment for members. running ouf 3 vehicles,. as well as planning
for 8 secure financial future lor the team.
The majority ol funds are raise¢J through the hard Wofk of team mèmbars 8nd our valued supporters group,
who have been 8S8151ing us since 2014.
The Trustees of Woodhead Mountain Rescue Team have regard lo the Commisslon's public benefit
guidancè Lègal requirement.. ensuring they'have regard, lo the Cornmission's public benefit guidance 'when
exer¢i$ing any powers or duties to which the guidance Is relevant,. Trustees are aware of the guidanca,
they have taken il into account when making a decision lo which the guidanc8 is rèl8vanl. if they have

Team leadors report
The exlsling team leader 13 nol seeking re-election in 2024, a8 he will have cornpleled 13 years as team
leader. A replacement team leader h88 volunleèr8d and will be taking on the t8gm leader role from the
AGM.
Incld•nt•
Between 5th March 2023 and Slh March 2024 we have 78 incidents recorded on 04H. This ¢ompares with
68 incidents during the same reporting pefiod last year, showing yel another busy year lor the team.
MOM￿rnhIp
The new recruit inlake is progressin9 well, with most new recruits now on tho calloul 1581 and providlng a
well needed boost to attend8nce at ¢alloul8.
Attendance
Attendance al callouts and training remalns a challenge for the team, and other teams in thè Pèak. We
have a smaller team than many other teams in the region. Our altandance in lems ol percentage of
membership Is on a par with, or slightly above othèr 198m8. however our smaller pool of resource has
meant that numbers on the ground have beon low al Ilmes. New recruilmenl is addressing this somewh81
and this will r8rnain a challenge lor Ihe team going forwards.
Supportern
We would like lo thank as ever our team of supporters who continue lo work away on lundraising events,
supporl team events such as Trigger and continue lo provide a vital support lo the team. with Sorne
members b8ginning lo undertake an operation support role also. Wg really are very fortunate as a team lo
hgvg such a fanlaglic team of supporters of the team.

Casualty Care al incidents.
Supportor• group
The team have an a¢lN& Supporters group with support of a dèsignated Supporters Officer who provide
significant assistance lo the team. Thi6 support has trAdition81ty included, Fundraising Support, Assistance
al chÈckpoinls and logistical support lo events, welfare support on callouts, operational support with data
and control Systems.
The supporters group have been a significant benefit lo our team with continued support being off8fed
during the 2023 year, in¢luding the use of the developed ski118 of som8 membèrs lo 8881st with
adminislralive rolls ducing callout, and a numb8f ol Supporters group members developing their skils whi¢tt
enabled them lo take part in this years Train8es co-hort working lo be becoming Hill going team member$.

In 2021 the team adoptèd a number of measures lo improve practice when officers leave a p05t, change
ro185 or are unable to carry out the dulle8 ol their post for any period, a nurnber of improvements have baan
introduead.
During 2022 Ihese were fully &mbedded in th8 tgams processes with the Chalr Designate appoinled as
Chair at the 2023 AGM.
Following this success a similar roll of Team Leader Oe6ignal8 was adopted with nomlnalion and Electlon
al thè 2023 AGM of a Team Leader Designate to ensure olfeclive Ir8nsilion of the Team L8adership Roll as
the ourrenl Team L8adtr stands down In 2024.
