The Trustees present their annual report and financial slalements for the year ended 31 December 2024.
The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the accounting policies set out In note 1 to the
financial 51alemen15 and comply wlh the Charity's governing document, the Companies Act 2006, FRS 102 The
Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland" and the Charities SORP Accounting
and Reporting by Charities.. Slalemenl of Recommended Practice applicable lo charities preparing their accounts in
accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland IFRS 1021
Objectlves and actlvltles
The objects of the Charity are, for the public benefit. 'to advance the religious purposes of the Religious Society of
Friends (Quakers) in Britain in the area of the Oxford and Swindon Area Quaker Meeting and beyond,. These
objects are mainly achieved through holding weekly public meetings for worship al our local meetings.
Achievements and perfonnance
Meetings for worship are held on Sundays by the constituent Loc21 Meetings, which are open to the public and
conducted in the manner of Friends. Additional meetings are held during the week at Oxford Quaker Meeting
House, Abingdon and Swindon Meeting House. The Local Meetings continue to make arrangements for the pastoral
care and for the spiritual life of their membership in accordance with the Quaker Faith and Practice.. the book of
Christian discipline of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers).
The management of the business of the Area Meeting is conducted al meetings for church affairs in which Members
and Attenders may participate and also similar meetings conducted by the constituent Local Meetings and al
meetings of trustees. These meetings have continued to tske place during 2024, both in person and using Zoom
technology.
Trustees have received reports on the maintenance and upkeep of the properties in their ownership and have
considered and approved ￿rtain Improvements and general upkeep. A significant expenditure on repairs lo 42 Sl
Giles was approved and the work Is in progress.
Trustees have reviewed insurance cover and assessed the risks facing the charity.
Safeguarding policies and practices have continued lo be implemented. with support from our designated trustee for
this role, Britain Yearly Meeting and specialist agencies. Trustees have Ljndertaken appropriate training and DBS
checks have been completed.
The demographics of the Area Meeting continue lo be of Con￿M.. il is becoming increasingly difficult to find Friends
with lime and energy lo carry out the voluntary work which is an essential part of our worshipping community. To
respond to this issue, financial support for an area-wide outreach group wa5 provided, as was 5UPPOrt for thè
appointment of a Children's, Youth and Family Development Worker ICYFDW), shared with Mid-Thames Area
Meeting and managed by Britain Yearly Meeting. We also benefit from the appointment of a Local Development
Worker. shared with two other Area Meetings and managed by Britain Yearly Meeting.
Overall, our finances have remained stable. We are confident that at present we have the material and spiritual
resources lo maintain the work of the Area Meeting. Trustees remain Con￿rned that across the Area Meeting,
finding Friends lo fill the positions needed to conduct our business is challenging. That said, il is pleasing to note
that recently appointed Iruslees have come forward and bring a wealth of experience In trust administration and
financial matters. Trustees remain grateful for the contribution made by many lo the right conduct of our business
and spirf(ual matters.

Financial review
The financial stslemenls of the charity for the year ended 31 * December 2024 include the income and expenditure,
as well as the assets and liabilities of the Area Meeting and all its constiluenl local meetings.
The charity had an operational deficit of £47,71212023'. £64,464) during the year ended 31st December 2024. The
charity had an investment gain of £18,￿9(2o23.' £27,108) during the year ended 31 St December 2024.
The total funds of the Charty a131 December 2024 were £2,633,35812023. £2,662,101).
Rese￿eS policy
Reserves pollcy
Each local meeting is required to hold enough reserves to fund six months activities, the amount of which varies by
meeting. The charity as a whole has unrestricted and undesignated reserves of £683,770, which is sufficient to
support adivilies for a significant period. In addition, each local meeting which owns a meeting house musl hold a
designated building reserve based on the Quinquennial Review and an assessment of risks, agreed between the
Area Meeting Treasurer and the Property Trustee.
The Trustees are aware of their duly lo apply funds of the charity within a reasonable time of their receipt and
monitor the level of actual reserves against the above target levels on an on-going basis.
Plans for future periods
In future, the charity plans lo maintain its current provision of local meetings and lo continue to provide opportunities
for the general public to encounter worship with the Society of Friends.

limited by guarantee and registered as a charity under the Charities Act under the name The Religious Society of
Friend5 The Oxford and Swindon Area Quaker Meetings Charitie5. The chaiilable company Is governed by Its
Memorandum and Articles of Association. The Charity was incorporated as a company on June 29th 2009
(registered company number 069474621 and registered by the Charity Commission on September 23rd 2010
(charity number 11378971. Prior to registration with the Charity Commission, the charity held excepted charity
status.
The Iruslee directors set out below held office during the whole of the period except where otherwse slated. The

The Trustees, who are also the directors of Oxford and Swindon Area Quaker Meeting of the Religious Society of
Friends (Quakers) In Britain for the purpose of company law, are responsible for preparing the Trustees, Report and
the financial slalements in accordan￿ with applicable law and United Kingdom Accounting Stsndards (United
Kingdom Generally A￿epted A¢¢ounling Practi￿1.
Company law requires the Trustees lo prepare financial slalements for each financial year which give a true and fair
view of the slate of affairs of the Charity and of the incoming resources and application of resources, including the
income and expenditure, of the charitsble Company for that year.
In preparing these financial stslemenls, the Trustees are required lo..

observe the methods and principles in the Charities SORP.,
make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent.,

I report to the Trustees on my examination of the financial stslemenls of Oxford and Swndon Area Quaker Meeting
of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) In Britain Ilhe Charity) for the year ended 31 December 2024.
Responslbllltles and basls of report
As the Trustees of the Charity land also its directors for the purposes of company lawl, you are responsible for the
preparation of the financial statements in accordance with the requirements of the Companies Act 2006.
Having satisfied myself that the finanaal statements of the Charity are not required to be audited under Part 16 of
the Companies Act 2006 and are eligible for independent examination, I report in respect of my examination of the
Charity's financial statements carried out under section 145 of the Charities Act 2011. In carying out my
examination I have followed the Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 14515llbl of the Charities
Ac12011.

Since the Charity's gross income exceeded £250.000. the independent examiner must be a member of a body
listed in section 145 of the Charities Act 2011. 1 Confirm that l am qualified to undertake the examination because I
am a member of the ICAEW. which is one of the listed bodies.
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no matters have come lo my attention in connection with the
examination giving me cause lo believe that in any material respect..
accounting records were not kept in respect of the Charity as required by section 386 of the Companies Act

Accounting policies
Charity inforniation
Oxford and Swindon Area Quaker Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) in Britain is a
charitsble company in the United Kingdom. In the event of the Charity being wound up. the liability in respect
of the guaranlee is limited to £1 per member of the charity. The address of the registered office is given in Ihe
charity information on page 1 of these financial statements. The nature of the charity's operations and
principal activities are holding public meeting for worship.
The charity constitutes a public beneff( enlily as defined by FRS 102.
1.1 Accounting convention
The financial slalements have been prepared in accordance with Accounting and Reporting by Charities..
Statement of Recommended Practice applicable lo charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the
Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland IFRS 1021 effective from 1 January
2019, the Finanaal Reporting Standard applicable in the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland IFRS 1021,
the Charities Act 2011, the Companies Act 2006 and UK Generally Accepted Practice as it applies from 1
January 2019.
The Charity has tsken advantage of the provisions in the SORP for charities not lo prepare 8 Statement of
Cash Flows.
1.2 Going concern
The financial slalements are prepared on a going concern basis under the historical Cost convention, modified
lo include certain items al fair value. The financial slalemenls are prepared in sterling which is the ftjnctional
currency of the charity.
1.3 Charitable funds
Unrestricted funds are available for use al the discretion of the Trustees in furtherance of their charitable
objectives.
Restricted funds are subject lo specific conditions by donors or grantors as to how they may be used. The
purposes and uses of the restricted funds are set out in the notes to the finanaal slalements.
Endowment funds are subject to specific conditions by donors that the capitsl musl be maintained by the
Charity.
1.4 Income
All incoming resources are included in the Statement of Financial Activities ISOFAI when the charity is legally
enlilled lo the income, after any performance conditions have been met. The amount can be measured
reliably and il is probable that the income ￿￿11 be re￿ived.
Donations
For donations lo be recognised the charity will have been notified of the amounts and the settlement dale in
writing. If there are conditions attached lo the donation which requires a level of performance before
enlillement can be obtained then income is deferred until those conditions are fully mel or the fulfilment of
those conditions is within the control of the charity and Il is probable that they will be fulfilled.
Legaclgs
For legacies, entitlement is the eadier of the charity being notified of an impending distribution or the legacy
being received. At this point income is recognised. On occasion legacies will be notified to the charity
however it is not possible to measure the amount expected lo be distributed. On these occasions, the legacy
is treated as a contingent asset and disclosed.

Grants
Income from grants are recognised at fair value when the charity has entitlement after any performance
conditions have been met, it is probable that the income will be received and the amounts can be measured
reliably. If enlillement is not mel then these amounts are deferred.
Trading Activities
Income from trading activities includes income earned from trading activities to raise funds for the charity.
Income is received in exchange for supplying goods and services in order to raise funds and is re¢ognised
when enlillement has occurred.
Investment Income
Investment income is eamed through holding assets for investment purposes such as shares and property. 11
indudes dividends, interest and rent. Vvhere il Is not practicable lo identify investment management costs
incurred within a scheme with reasonable accuracy the investment income is reported nel of these Costs. 11 is
induded when the amount can be measured reliably. Inte￿$1 income is recognised using the effective interest
method and dividend and rent income is recognised as the charity's right lo receive payment is established.
Income from activities for generating funds
Income from activities for generating funds consists of income from sale of work, which is recognised when
eamed.
1.5 Expenditure
l expenditure is accounted for on an accruals basis and has been classified under headings that aggregate
all costs related to the category. Expenditure is recognised where there is a legal or constructive obligation to
make payments to third parties, it is probable that the settlement will be required and the amount of the
obligation can be measured reliably. It is categorised under the followng headings..
Cost of raising funds
These costs include all expenditure incurred by the charity lo raise funds for its charitsble purposes and
indude costs of all fundraising activities events and n0￿charItsb1e trading.
Expenditure on charitable activities
These costs include support costs and costs relating to the governance of the charity apportioned lo
charitable aclivilies.
Grants payable lo third parties are within the charitable objectives. ￿ere unconditional grants are Offe￿d,
this is accrued as soon as the recipient is notified of the grant, as this gives rise to a reasonable expectation
that the recipient wll re￿1ve the grants.
No amount is included in the financial statements for volunteer lime in line with the SORP IFRS 1021. Further
detail is given in the Trustees. Annual Report.
1.6 Tangible fixed assets
Tangible Fixed Assets are ststed al historical cost less depreciation. Depreciation is provided using various
bases and rates which reflect the anlicipaled useful lives of the various assets and their estimated residual
values. Depreciation is charged on the following bases..

1.7 Flxed asset Investments
Investments are recognised inrf(ially at fair value which is normally the transaction price excluding transaction
costs. Subsequently, they are measured al fair value with changes recognised in 'nel gainslllossesl on
inveslmenls, in the SOFA if the shares are publidy traded or their fair value can otherwise be measured
reliably. Other investments are measured al cost less impairment.
Investment properties for which fair value can be measured reliably wthout undue cost or effort are measured
at fair value at each reporting date with changes in fair value recognised in 'net gains I Ilossesl on
investments. in the SOFA.
Assets not measured al fair value are reviewed for any indication that the asset may be impaired at each
balance sheet dale. If such Indication exists, the recoverable amount of the asset is estimated and compared
lo the carrying amount. Where the carrying amount exceeds its recoverable amount, an Impaitmenl loss is
recognised in profil or loss unless the asset is carried al a revalued amount where the impairment loss is a
revaluation decrease.
1.8 Cash and cash equlvalants
Cash and cash equivalents indude cash in hand, deposits held al call wth banks, other short-lerm liquid
investments with original malurilies of three months or less, and bank overdrafts. Bank overdrafts are shown
wthin borrowings in current liabilities.
1.9 Taxation
The Charity is an exempl charity wf(hin the meaning of schedule 3 of the Charities Act 2011 and is considered
to pass Ihe tests set out in Paragraph 1 Schedule 6 Finance Act 2010 and therefore it meets the definition of a
charitable company for the UK corporation tax purposes.
