Since the founding of KAT in 2004 alm03t SO,000 street dogs have bèen vaccinated against rabies, around 40,000 do9s have been sterilized and over 18,000 sick dogs and cats have been tated as well as over 1,200 doxs rehomed. KAT Centre has also raised the awareness of animal Welfa and related publi¢ health issues by Yrking with schools, local Gommunities, local organizations and individuals. Tourists and local citizens have noticed postiive changes in the behaviour of | communities towards stray dogs and other animals. People now proactively care for and provide food for stray animals and often bring sick or injured animals to the KAT Centre Clinic for treatment. One of our noteworthy achievements 15 the acquisition of a disused school, which has been converted into hospital for the treatment of sick dogs and cats as well as the ongoing vaccination and sterilisation programme. fundraisin8 campaign was carried out throu8hout this period to raise sufficient funds for the conversion works and furnishing for the new hospital. The hospital is due to be officiallv opened thls October. Fundraising has also continued to support the maintenance and runnin8 of the canine cancer unit. We also continue to work with local municipalities to fund and carry out spaying camp5 in areas around the Kathmandu valley. Furthermore. we have taken a systematic approach to improving animal welfare, which lies at the core of our mission. This approach involves developing comprehensive strategies, implementing effective programs, and actively engaging with local communities to create lasting change. By focusing on improving animal welfare on a broader scale, we aim to make a positive impact not only on individual animals but also on society as a whole. This encompasses attivities such as raisin8 awareness about animal rights. promoting responsible pet ownership, and advocatirv8 for policy changes that s3fe8uard the well-being of animal5.
