## Trustee’s Annual Report 1[st] June 2020 to year-end 31[st] May 2021 

## Introduction 

The past year has seen the club having to come to terms with the Global Pandemic, Covid 19 and a national Lockdown followed by followed by more localized lockdowns. The outcome being our facility has been closed for much of that time bringing a reduced income of £1,206 compared with £2,386.50 the previous year. 

As the restrictions reduced we were able to meet up outdoor for social distance training and conditioning which was a success. With restrictions still in place we took the decision to have our Brett Jones Annual 10 k Fun Run as a virtual meeting and donate via the Just Giving page as a result we were able to donate £500 to The Pancreatic Cancer Research and £300 to Prenton Rugby Club.

## Objectives 

Wallasey Amateur Boxing Club promote and encourage community participation in healthy recreation for the benefit of Wallasey and surrounding areas by the provision of facilities and opportunities to participate in the sport of boxing and general keep fit. 

## Achievements 

We have received two local grants from Leasowe – Moreton Community Councillors’ Fund £1,000 and Prima Housing £500 enabling the club to purchase 35 club jackets for our members to wear when representing their club .In November we had the installation of CCTV inside and outside of the club for added safety and security £712.80p and  have received a total of £17,431 in Local restriction Grants.

## Future Plans 

Having agreed to secure the future of Wallasey Amateur Boxing Club we have applied to Wirral Borough Council for planning permission to construct a new purpose built gym under the guidance of Mr. Kieren Hanlon the cost was £3721. On approval we will see prospective funders and funding. In the year ahead we will continue to recruit more volunteers and coaching staff to become more efficient and ease the workload of present coaches. Currently we have 40 – 60 members including 24 boxers attending weekly. We hope to Increase membership by having open training sessions and

encourage more of the youth into the sport of Amateur Boxing and also the residents of Leasowe to partake of our facility as a family with extra keep fit classes in a safe environment giving them another choice to stay fit and healthy. 

We will continue with our annual Maxie Roy Boxing Tournament in his memory and our annual Brett Jones 10k Fun Run in Brett memory raising money for Pancreatic Cancer Research both very popular and are firmly established in the events calendar each year.
