Risk management is considered as part of its overall duties by the Circuit Leadership Team which takes appropriate professional advice whenever it feels that this is necessary. tillJT e-.J¢'lE.- J 1 The Circuit has for many years adopted a safeguarding policy in respert of children and has encouraged and indeed ensured that all Churches within the Circuit have also adopted a suitable policy. In 2012 it adopted and has since annually updated a revised policy covering both Children and Vulnerable Adults. Suitsble training is arranged to support those holding office. Ingbi ?' i(0¥*' The Circuit provides advice, support and resources to the 8 Churches that fomi the Circuit and qoioq through them undertakes a range of rellglous activities for the benefit of the general ) iu ¢1 fliud public/mankind. Methodist Circuits are not defined as external grant making bodies. Surplus funds, both short temi and longer term are Invested with the Trustees for Methodist Church Purposes as required by Standing Orders. The majority of the work of the Clrcuit. other than that undertaken by ordalned mlnlsters and pald lay workers, is undertaken by voluntsry lay people. Sectlon D- Achlevements and Perforniance The Circuit has continued to support a wide range of activities undertaken by the Churches within the Circuit. Wesley and Marlow chapels have continued to live-stream their Sunday worship and this has allowed members to be part of the services wlthout being present and allowed other congre8ations to Join them in worship. We have also used recorded sermons to help chapels that have not had a preacher for their Sunday worship. This has all been assisted by the grants from Circuit fvnds given durin8 the pandemic to each chapel to improve audio-visual and starning equipment where this was needed. One chapel closed at the end of August 2023. One minister left in August 2024. leaving the Superintendent and a probationer. The Circuit continues to look for areas of proven growth and where the Is potential for development. The Circuit has continued to support lay workers in two churches and is now fvnding part time Circuit Adminlstrator in place of the previous post of the Superintendenvs PA.
J8Afi,.)TrY Sectlon E- Hnandal Revlew The Circuit aims to maintain in a general fund at least three months routine expenditure to cover timing delay5 in receipt of funds. The other main fvnd is the Clrcuit Model Trust Fund (fom)erly known as the rCuit Advance Fund) which is derived from the sale of redundant properties within the Circuit and its use is governed bv the purposes defined in Stsnding Orders. The Clrcuit ralses funds through the CSrcult assessment whlch Is contrlbutlons from all the Churches within the Circuit to meet the agreed budget for the year. The majority of the Circuiys expenditu is related to the employment of staff and thelr associated accommodation etc. expenses plus a contribution to the costs of both the District and the Connexion colletted throu8h the District Assessment. Sectlon F- Future Development '¥i,' The Clrcult contlnues to seek an effectlve strategy for its future development and direction. In 2021- 2022 the Circult engaged in a review of activities under the banner of the Connexional God for All initiative, and by the end of the year all churches had reviewed their plans for the next twelve months. The clrcuit held a vlsion day In May 2024 which resulted in a plan to hire an outreach worker to support the churches in eth clrcult. The work Identified through these exercises will continue to be developed as a priority and appropriate financial plans developed to enable them to be taken forward overthe comin8 years both by the churches and the Circuit Leadershlp Team.
