advice from the Honorary Govemors who are ekjers of the community. In tum the Trustees appoint
Secretaries to take responsibilty for organising one of the range of the wide range of &tivitie5 as
well as for financial and administrative support Secretartes are expected to regularly report bac
to the Trustees.

The Trustees have overall responsibilty for ensuring that TAL has appropriate systems of control,
bolh financial and operational. These systems should be desrgned to provide reasonable, but not
absolute. assurance against material misstatement or loss. The nthv Trustees have recoanised
that there were major financial and operational risks facing TAL in torn8 of financial control and

Durina the year TAL has oroaniswj a series of culiural eV￿ls and s￿S acts"vities and has provided
educational servi￿$ through the TAL Cultural Centre. Although primarily accessed by m@m￿rS of
the Telugu GcKnmunty we welcome individuals from all backgrounds.
The Trustees consider that the activibes undertaken, offered at no or minimal cost. provide benefit
to the community as a whole and confim that in exetcisirvJ their powers and duties, Ihey have
complied with their duty to have due regard to the guidance on public benefit published by the

Trustees are appointed by Members in a General Meeting. The Chair of the Truste8s is responsible
for the induction of any new committee member., this involves awareness of responsibilities, of the
governing document, of administrative prcredures and of the history and activities of the
Association. A new member should receive copies of the previous year's annual report and

During the year TAL has organised a series of cultural events and sports activities and has provided
educational services through the TAL Cultural Centre. Although primarily accessed by members of
the Telugu community we welcome individuals from all backgrounds.
The Trustees consider that the activities undertaken, offered at no or minimal cost, provide benefit
to the community as a whole and confirm that in exercising their powers and duties, they have
complied with their duty to have due regard lo the guidance on public benefit published by the
Charity Commission and have complied with their duties under Section 17 of the Charities Act
2011.

Dursng the year TAL'S total receipts of £85,578 compared to previous y8ar of £71,514 du8 to
OffJanising various activities and events and total spending of £98.630 compared to previous year
of £72.087, howov8r the charity made a deficit of £13,052 compared to deficit of £573 in the
previous y&ar du8 to spendlng on events and activities. Trustees would expect to make an
occasional deficit as long as these are matched over tlme by comp8nsating surtyuses. Cash
holdings remain healthy with £30,649 (2023 .£43,701) in the bank at year end.

Ro•orvo• Pollcy
The aim of the Trustees is to ensure that TAL holds adequate reserves to allow it to continue its
charitabla objectives. Since there are nerther paid staff. nor premisas and since all activit18s should
be self-funding the Trustees believe Ihal a res8rve of £20,000 should be suffici6nt. Howevef, as at
31 March 2024 reserves stood at £30,649. As there are no designated reserves the excess
reserv8 funds wtll b8 deployed in the future in support of activit18s in line wth TAL'S objects.
Plans for Future P•rlod•
Trustees are confident the sltU8tlon wlll improve a lol In the coming years and the cornmunlty is
growing In UK and would be aimlng to have it's own premises for social g8therings and also
cr88ts'ng an academy for sports and making Itself s8lf-sust8inable in flrtura tlm88.
Continuing with the 8XiSting r8nge of events and activities.
Trustees are also awar8 that they need to improve the Association's govemance and financial
systems including extending the online payment systems to reduce cash transactions.

r•sponslblliti•s of The charity's trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year
trust••s and examln•r under section 144 of the Charities Act 2011 (the Charities Act) and that
an independent examination is needed.
It is my responsibility to..
examine the accounts under section 145 of the Charities Act,
to follow the procedures laid down in Ihe general Directions given by
the Charty Commission (under section 14515)(bl of the charities Act,

to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
Basls of Ind•p•nd•nt My examinalion was carried out in accordance wrth general Directions
•xamln•rfs stat•m•nt given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of
the accounting records k8Pt by the charity 8nd a comparison of the
accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of
any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking
explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The
procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be
required in an audit, and consequently I do not express an audit opinion
on the view given in the accounts.

respect, the requirements to prepare accounts which accord with the

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the above charity (“the Trust”) for the year ended 31/03/2024.
