Our pre-school continues the excellent work it does in this very poor area of Derbyshire, and is highly commended by Ofsted and Derbyshire County Council. The difference this work has made to both children and parents mental and physical wellbeing is gratifying and uplifting. We now mentor 85 children, 15 of which are classed as being very vulnerable. We work very closely with Social Services, and the police, on very serious and delicate matters with excellent outcomes. Holiday and breakfast clubs are now operating successfully giving children and parents more good choices. ## Achievements and performance
Summary of the main | The charity is in the fourth worst deprived area of Derbyshire. We ‘ : enhance the lives of young children, many of which are severely achievements of the charity : : . . challenged by poor health, physical and sexual abuse, and basic daily during the year personal needs. It is most satisfying that parents respond to our efforts and guidance to take the responsibility of being a better parent. Of course, there are failures but the positive response from the majority maintains our faith in this very exacting charity work. Unfortunately, the paperwork required by Ofsted and Social Services is a great burden on our time and gets worse each year.

## Section F Other optional information
The severity of the financial climate in the past 5 years has brought challenge to the charity. We have applied good practices to deal with these circumstances and strengthen the position of the charity. The charity continues the excellent work, is debt free and therefore can give 100% focus to the problems of these young children that they face in their very difficult circumstances. Current government policy is not helping but we soldier on.
It has been a very difficult year. Our insurance company refused to insure on the basis that the wooden Cladding on the exterior elevations was not sufficiently fire retardant and also the fire emergency system did not mee requirements to include all lighting through-out the building. An overall of the metal shutters over the windows and doors, and a new CCTV security system was also required. All of this work has been done at great expense but now meets all current legislation.
