Achievements and performance Summary of the main achievements of the charity, identifying the dlfference the charity's work has made to the circumstances of its beneficiaries and any wider benefits to society as a whole. January saw the official opening of our second-hand bookshop. which had a very successful first year generating an income of over £3000. This is proving to be a very valuable facility both for those wishing to recycle bookslDVDs and for those who wish to pick up a bargain! The money raised goes towards the running costs of The Hub. January also saw the launch of the Friday Hub, our well-being café. Working in partnership with Pioneer Projects, the Friday Hub is part of the Craven Mental Health & Wellbeing Hubs network. The café takes place at Church House and has been a great success. It will increase from one session a month to sessions in January 2024. We've continued to offer a warm space over the winter months as a response to high fu81 costs. Our upstairs activity room has board games, jigsaws and craft materials for people lo use. In our bookshop downstairs, we have chairs and a coffee lable next to a radiator. In addition to Knit n Natter and Family History, our regular free drop in daytime activities in The Hub, we've also run other activities in 2023 includinq needle feltinq and silk paintinq. In March we were honoured with a Craven District Council Legacy Award. This award recognised our organisation for providing an exemplary service lo the distnct. going above and beyond to serve th8 community and making a significant difference to the lives of Cravèn residents. During 2022 we took part irs a pilot project, Staying Healthy, Ind8pendent and Connected {SHIC) which seeks to enable residents lo continue to live healthy, happy, and independent lives within their communities and to reduce, delay or prevent their need for long-term statutory social care or health seNice care and support. The pilot finished on 31st March 2023, and the Hub has been contracted lo continue this Work from 1st April 2023 for a further Ihree years. This project is funded by North Yorkshir8 Council Health & Adult Services. This work is an extension of the work we have been doing for the last few years and is a good fit for our objectives. 2023 has been another successful year for Grassington Community Library showing an increase in active borrowers and in the number of items issued. Our fortnighlly Home Library Delivery service remains popular. and w8 have increased the number of rou18S to include Gills Top Nursing Home. We continue to enjoy regular visits from our local primary schools,. this may have contributed to the record number of children (521 sianing up for the Summer Readinq Challenqe and the excellent successful completion rate Grassington Men's Shed has conlinued to thrive Mice weekly. Some members of The Shed work on their own projects.. others work on recycling wood to make items which can be sold and on community projects including renovating the benches around Grassington and building sets for local productions. In 2023 the shedders made the PRIDE letters for the first Pride in Ihe Dales event. We have secured funding for a Befriending Service and during 2023 have been working on tha policies, processes and training needed. This service will be introduced in 2024. Our community minibus had been increasingly used during the year by Upper Wharfedale School who in September approached us with an offer lo buy. After seven years, use by The Hub we are very pleased to see it remaining in the community. The funds raised by the sale will support our other community projects. Grassington Community Cinema, our second longest running community activity, continues to be successful with its monthly screening of popular films in The Octagon. The monthly lunch club is still going strong after seven years. With 42 guests attending the Christmas lunch in December where each guest enjoyed a spectacular Christmas lunch and received a Christmas gift. In 2023 the trustees were approached by Grassington Devonshire Institute Iruslees and asked to consider a move to an area at the Town Hall which is to be redeveloped, with possible availabilily late 2024. The trustees diligently examined this proposition, do not consider that area to be either practical or financially viable and consequently have declined the offer.

Our volunteer numbers remain buoyant and none of our activities would be possible without their support. Whether it be helping in The Hub on receplion, in the library, second-hand bookshop, Lunch club, Friday Hub, cinema, Men's Shed or running other activities, all are valued and all support is greatly appreciated. Financial review Review of the Charity's financlal position at the end of the period At the end of the period, the Hub is in a stable financial position. The SHIC funding provided £15,000 towards our community work. We received £7,500 funding from Transforming Community Mental Health Craven IVCS) lo run our wellbeing café, The Friday Hub, as part of the Craven Mental Health & Wellbeing Hubs Network. (This funding is for 18 months.) The £5,000 from the sale of our minibus has given us additional monies for our other seNices. Generous regular donations from local people amounted to over £8,000.
