Gulu Mission Initiative (GMI UK) - Annual Report – 2023-2024
Registered Charity Number: 1136683
What a year it's been! With the challenges we had with the bank at the beginning of the year I wondered whether we would actually be able to do anything this year, but going back through all the activities and achievements there has been lots to celebrate and be thankful for.
Working alongside those in a different country and culture will always throw up unexpected challenges, but ones we have always risen too, worked out together and stood stronger and closer to each other as a result.
When you look back over the year you realise the impact on so many young lives through Bethel schools and Salem Vocational Training Centre (VTC), giving precious children and young people opportunities they may never have been able to have, it's incredible.
So, as you read through each month let's continue to pray for all the work that has been achieved, and what is to come.

Inde endent Examiner re Report of the Independent Examiner to the Trustees of Gulu Mission Initiative On the accounts for the year ended March 31 St 2024 Respective responsibilities of Trustees and Examiner The Trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144 of the Charities Act 2011 (the Charities Act) and that an independent examination is needed. It is my responsibility to: examine the accounts under section 145 of the Charities Act, to follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Charity Commissions (under section 145{5)(b) of the Charities Act, and to state whether particular matters have come to my attention. Basis of Independent Examiner's statement My examination was carried out in accordance with general Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and the comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a 'true and fair, view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below. Independent examiners statement In connection with my examination, no material matters have come to my attention which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respects: accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act or the accounts do not accord with the accounting records the accounts do not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a 'true and fair, view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination. I have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached. Signed by the examiner: Date: 1011212024 Name: Malcolm Nicholas Address: 77 Fulmar Road, Porthcawl, CF36 3PW
