Achievements and performance
Review ofActivites and Achievements
As Lockdown and Covid restrictions were lifted, we reintroduced some events but still were unsure
how well supported they would be. We decided to make the Care for Kids Barnstaple 1 Ok virtual, as
supporters were still concemed about Covid and il would be difficult to manage. Runners could
complete their IOK al any time or localion on the day. We had a presence in Rock Park with a
finishing line lo support runners il they chose to run in the town.
Other events included an online auction in 'late summer, a Christmas Appeal, Christmas raffle,
bucket collection and a Valentines raffle.
In January. our virtual event "Beat Ihe Winter Blues. was not so well attended and il is unlikely we
will continue with this next year. We also attended several events held by other organisations on our
behalf, such as the Barnstaple Town Council's Christmas Fayre and the Bideford Bike Show. About
10-20 volunteers supported us throughout the year at various events.
The charity has supported seven families with grants in 2021-22, with both first and exceptional
circumstancès payments being made.
We also began the Iransformation project of cubicle 3 on the Caroline Thorpe children's ward at
NDDH. We will be using digital wall art and adding a smart TV, shelving, and strong protective
panelling around the cubicle, which is brightly colDured. A chair bed was also purchased for the
room, lor parents staying overnight. The project is due to be completed in Spring/Summer 2022.
