2.3 Fundralslng
Regular donations from the public are well receNed by the Trust but obtaining other donations and
fLtndraising activities ale the core of Ihe charws income_ Activities are developed in order that
donations may be raised to help fund the Tru5t'S tnain aGtivtties. Wrthoul Ihe support of the
communty and public the Trust would struggle to provide the facilities required. The aim of the
ftjndraising is primarily to r8ise mLYtey lo ox)ver the c•)sl of provhding day-t￿aY care and kennel
faciliti"es, bLrt also to make the public aware of ￿ Trusfs existence and to promd(e the welfare ar
care of dogs.
The Trustees are irKlÈblÈd to the gw)erous 5UPFh)rt recetved throughout this peri￿. Despite
remaining a d¢fficult economic climate, people ¢x)ntinue lo support directty through donath)ns and by
supporkn.ng the Tnjst at vari(NJs furmlrdising events.
A¢hlevoments and Porfornian¢o
Through donatx)ns arKI fund raisiry the Trust has i￿￿ ab￿ lo accommodate approxtmalely 3r￿40
dogs each month.
Financial
We truly thought that things woukl be much better this year but unfortunatety the '¢ost of living. crisis
has affected us all. Unthrstandabty people are hawng to cut comers to Pay for fo(Kl, energy, etc and
therefore we have a red￿ctIon in donations. and we have lost one or two sponsors. This
sittjalion that we are now in has heightened the need for Fe51we space. we have been inundated with
calls from the public lo take in dogs that they can no longer afford to keep. equalty fewer prosptictive
owners ale coming forward lo adopt the dogs. Birch Hill alone is r￿l¥Ing at least ￿ calls a day
from the public ¥those dogs need rescue space.
On a more positive note, we were a beneficiary in 8 will an(J were left a legacy of £￿,(￿}0. Our transit
van had been Unusab￿ for some time, and it was necessary for us to purchase a newer van for
transpo￿n9 the dogs to the vets as well as attending outdoor events. We were extremely gratefijl for
the legacy which allowwj us to do that, and On￿ purchased. Birch Hill Dog Res¢ue dera15 were
added. We were also able to repay almost half of the loan back to Mrs W. Watts. The loan was given
following the death of Mrs Jutta Patterson and the knowbedge of the 'advertising scam. and its after
affects. The ban allow&1 Birch Hill D(N3 R8scue to kesp its doors open and to wntinue Jutta's legacy
of saving unwanted, abandoned and ill-trealed dogs.
Fundraisi
A few more events were t￿(ed ￿ the year aThJ what a dfftrer￿e it made having a roadworthy van
lo do them in, however we are still a lilde short on volunteers to help oul al these events. The public
were still very much suptxytve despite the ojirent e(x)rKJmic situaticffi we all firKI ourselves in.
We were asked to organise a few more fun d(u shows al some of the events this year which were
well supported_ Once ag8ifi we have held Some Jumble Sales. organised by one of our volunteer dog
walkers which have prov￿1 lo I￿ most successful. She has also raised quite a substantial amount of
morkey through online raffles whth seem lo very popular with our F￿0k supp(￿terS.

Social Med￿ Continu￿ to Flay an irrbportant role wthhin the charity with 10,¢XK) now following our
Facebook page. We have raised funds through rdffles. we have set up Just Giving pages raising
money for various expenses. all Ihrough our F￿book page. We now have OLEr Instagram acccwnl
active and some of our dogs are being shovm in short videos on fik-Tok.
We have been extremely I￿kY to have 8 CLNnpany in Tenbury Wells I￿o$e emF4tyees have been
volunteering at the kennels helping wth painting and gardening services. The Company itself have
allocated some funding to us.. they have agreed to stthsor our Annu￿ Dog Show which will be held
in Ju￿. They have knndly donated fLKd, beddir#J etc. for the dogs in OLtr care.
All the 20 outstde njns have rthv been with new steel pBnels and gates in the large kennel
block. The shutters on the hatches whth separate the inside from outside have also now been
replaced with new steel sheets.
Future Plans
Having c(Impleted the ¢)utside runs to the main kennel b1￿k we now move to replacing the roof which
will be the biggest job lo undertake. We Jready received a small grant towards the cost. but we have
to find further funding to meet the tolal cost which is ar¢￿rNI £27.000. Our long-temi go81 on¢e the
kennels are brought up lo a satisfactory stsndard. is to join the ADCH (A8s(tkgtion of tlogs and Cat
Homes).
We have ConStan￿Y t*en on the tLx)koul for another tharity shop but finding on in the right location
and at the right rent has been dtfficuti to fiNI. It B hoped that we can fintl a suttable retail premises i
the near ftjture.
