financial statements for the year ended 30 June 2021. Th¢ Financial Statements have been prepared in
accordaft¢¢ with current stawtory requirements. Ihe Ststement of Recommended ProCti¢e {sOR￿)-
Accounting and Reporting by Chariti¢s issued in 2015.

The Foundation is a Company limiied by guaraniee and governed by memornndum and artlcles daied
6 July 2009. The Company is regi￿ered under the Companies Act 2006. registration number
07012686 and also registered as a charity on 7 June 2010. charity registration number 1136234. The
Company is limiied by guarantee and doB5 not have a share capiial.
The Foundation was incorFKirated and comm¢nc¢d operations on 8 September 2009. On 19 April 2010
the Company changed ils name from the Beyond Boyle Foundation w Beyond Food Fourtdation.

The Foundation works to help provide funding to motivate and inspire people who have been ai risk
of or experienced homelessne55 to gain meaningful employmenl. While meeiing these objectives. the

requirements.

The lower surplus generated in 2020121 compared ivith the FKiOf year refiects the impad of the
covitk19 pandemic. both through Brigade Bar + Kit¢hen (BB+K) being closed for large parts of the
year due to the genernl lockdowiTr provisions and the dire¢t and indir¢et impaci on a number of the
Foundations. current and past beneficiaries who were supported with ex grntia hardship payments
through the year.

challenging ¢ircumst&nces and aim to build reserves over the ¢ourse of 2021122 and beyond toward
the policy tsrget level. The Post-Balance Sheei Eveni referred io later in thi5 report provides early

The Board of Trustees has found a new Chairnian. Pars Pureival, a retired senior14vC partner, with
¢xiensive experience in the ¢orpoAie world. Ls well As relevant charity and chairing expertise. Pars
also hap￿rted to b¢ a big supporter of BFF'S ivork- within Brigade. previously bringing his ¢lients to
dine at Brigade fTequentty.
Pars and his fellow Truste¢s have refreshed the ivork of the tsvo existing sulpcomrnillees for Financ¢
& Funding Raisin% and Governance lo ensure we are const8nily lookin& ai ihe mosi appropriaie iyay
(o conduct our work in the community in a 5usiainable and 4ppropriai¢ manner. Pars has also recently
launched a new su&committee in Marketing and Communi¢•tions to enhance ihe way BBF connects
wilh potential funders and benef￿lar1e&
In addition, earlier in ihe year the Management and Trusie¢s ideniified a skills gap in the staff team
and recnjiied a full-time fiJndraisin% manager to addre55 ihis Rap. This is a very posilive step and we
are starting io see ihe dividends already. We have a150 InCr￿¢d our support team. Ihereby providing
more effective and eomprehensive support for beneficiafies throu8houi the week.

BFF has done much positive work this year in reaching oui into ourcommunity. both in the London
Bridge area and beyortd. This has included public sector of8anisations involved in unemployment and
homelessness as well &$ the local borough councils.
BFF has also worked with s¢veral livery ¢ompanies and guilds. pani¢ularly those from the catering
sector. In the privat¢ secior BFF has worked with severnl big bu5ine5ses including those in hospitslity
and ¢at¢ring s¢ctors. as w¢ll as local busirt¢ss setvi¢¢ providers.
BFF 1$ dedicated to developing better links with them and many more. both in order to provide a
strong service within the community. and w gain as much wpport as p055ible for the charity and ils
beneficiaries. An example of this •pproach being successfully applied this year is BFF'S work ivith
LEAP, a pupil Teferral unli for young vuln¢rnbl¢ people that have fallen through the ¢rack5 of
¢dU￿tiOn. Within LEAP specialist programmc each pupil receivcs dedicated education. LEAP have
partn¢red ivith and fibnded Beyond Food to pilot the Beyond the Ctassroom programme.

Reflecting on its strategy for eng82ing ivith potential future benefi¢i8ries. BFF held a series of focus
groups in the summer of 2021. Groups Consi￿ed of a mix of pa54 presenL and future Ixneficiaries,
refenal the monagemeni of homelessness organisatiofts and Job Centre advisers.
The BFF ieam learnt a great deal from ihese group5. Notsbly fe¢dba¢k on our use of communication
across all stakeholders and b¢nefi¢iary groups was enlightening and we have now storted io
communieate in a far simpler way. io much more tsrgeied audiences. We hope this will rnoke a
profound diffeyenee to our recruitment prncess and Tettinment fi8ure5 in 2021-2 #nd iwond.

During 2020-21 w¢ uftderwent a substantial maneuver io our own chari&bl¢ event Str4t¢&Y.
Working alonE5ide an event pamer. Créme Conferenee5. the refreshed straiegy started with a series
of live streams over the Christsn&$ 2020 pffirxt. followed by a number of events with companies
wishing to support BFF in the reopening of BB+K.
With well over £60.000 of event donations to date (IMAh pre and post y¢aT end 30 June 2021k this
strdtegy will r¢main a focus for the re￿ of the year 2021-22.
Additionally we conttnue lo run our Feag Supper Club which. though not a hug¢ fundraising model.
doe5 increase awareness of th¢ Charity. its objeeiives and achievements.
We aim to host a large gala dinner I￿er in the 2021-22 financial year.
Overall the Tn55tees have been very pleased with BFPS progress during this financial yeAr.
From a Financial perspeciive costs were closely controlled and our fundrnising Slrntegy was
successfully refresh¢d. We are Pl￿ed to have ¢oncluded the yew with • small surplus. This was a
welcome finish to an extremely denwidin8 year. The team worked very hard in difficult
¢ircumstance5 and felt the full support of the Tru￿¢¢5 and Chair.
Ahhough there are likely ￿ be iough times ahead f(Y our communities. BFF is pleased to have risen to
the Considerable ¢hallenges this year brought. As a small ¢harity. BFF has mad¢ positiv¢ changes
within the organi￿tIon io pui us on io a good fooling for the year ahead. BFF has drnfted in
consid¢rdble amount of ¢X￿niSe ￿ the or8anisaiion ond balaneed many different relationships in
difficult circumstknce5 to achieve these results.
.The BFF Board and T￿￿e¢S are proud of the a¢hievements to dale and are now MIOTking on the next
3-year strate8y. Where should we lake the successful methL)Jology next? A￿ other hospitality
partnerships. such as our uniqu¢ partnership with Brigade, an oplion? How many people do lye think

we can realisiically 5UPPOrt in our current capacity? Where will neiv supporters like to see the ¢harity
progress io? All are 8ood questions that are CVTrenrly being ¢onsidered and debated by the CEO 8nd
Trusiees as BFF seeks to firni up ils strateLv for th'e years ahead. The charity as always ivill share its

xcluded from society at a crucial time of their lives. 16-24 are the ages when we start having to tske

are that edu¢ation is nol your 51rong suit. Add the fact that m8ny Yulnerdbl¢ people are without a saf¢
place io live ar 17 years old and it becomes an IM￿SSible SiDJaiion. No home and no qualifications
lead io no job. rto income. and no hope. BFF is working with pupil rtferral units such as LEAP. youth
offending servic¢4 the Care service and other youth 1￿Me1c$$ne$S projects to offer our new
programme to their benefKiaries.
Beyond Coffee ts a move-on progTamme from Beyond ihe Classrwm, offering a real chance for our
b¢neficiaries to move into ihe hospitaliry sector utilÈsing their skills and on th¢ job trnining as ivell Us
the 5UPPOrt BFF offers to hold down a viable. sustsirtable. meaningful career start. Due to Brexii and
the COVID pandemi¢ our employmeni partners are now frequently short siaffed and keen on our
young brighi benefici4ries. We hope these programmes 8nd ¢)ur employment parth¢rs' needs will
marry up perfecily post pandemi¢.

One Trustee received remuneration for certain duties undertaken in his role 8s Secretary to Ihe
Trustees. The total gross cost io the charity in respeth of these secretarial duties during the period wa5
£3.959 (2020: £1.221). Apart from this. none of the Trusiees received remuneraiion or h8d any
expenses reimbursed during the perÉod.
