Brandon Church of Christ Trustee Report for period June 2021-May 2022

Finance

Expenditure exceeded income by £3740, due in the main to two areas. Firstly the refurbishment and alterations to the cottage in preparation for accommodating six refugees from the conflict in Ukraine. Secondly a complete flooring of the church building. These extraordinary expenditures amounted to a total of £13,243.

Additionally, we provided £7000 benevolence due to covid pandemic.

Income was the highest for a number of years, reflective of the congregation’s desire to aid Ukrainian refugees as well as updating the flooring in the church building.

We had sufficient reserves of £46180 at the end of the period.

The church owns under Trust the unincumbered church building and next door three bedroomed cottage. These properties are valued more than £400000.

No Trustees received any payments or benefits from the charity.

Serious Incidents

There were no serious incidents in the period.

Worship Services:

No amendment were made to worship services, we continued with Sunday Morning Bible study followed by Lords table service. Attendance numbers are 30 +.

We continue to broadcast our Sunday services on Zoom, this facility is useful for students away at university and members who are unable to attend in person due to illness or holiday. Typical numbers on Zoom are 6 to 8 persons.

Wednesday bible study continued io Zoom, with numbers of 12 to 15 regularly attending.

We provided a portion £1239 of travel expenses for visiting preachers.

Buildings

The much needed updating of the flooring in the building was completed, as well the work on the cottage to prepare for receiving Ukrainian refugees.

It is likely that the heating system in the cottage will need to be updated in the next 24 months.

All of the upstairs rooms in the building are now being used for classes for the children on a Lords day morning.
