Governance and management

The charity is operated under the rules of its trust deed adopted 12 May 2010.

New trustees are recruited depending on the needs of the Charity and Trustee discussion at minuted meetings.

Objectives and activities

The provision of maintenance, repair and restoration of the Tower and grounds. To promote preservation.

To enhance and conserve the natural habitat and biodiversity within the site. To educate the public in the history and heritage of the Tower and grounds.

We have a regular grounds maintenance plan to keep the site in a safe and attractive manner and a risk assessment is always carried out before events. The site is always open to the public although the Tower is only open whenever there are volunteers on site.

Bramcote Old Church Tower Trust

Public benefit statement

The Trustees confirm that they have complied with the duty in section 17 of the Charities Act 2011 to have due regard to the Charity Commission's general guidance on public benefit, 'Charities and Public Benefit'.

Summary of the main achievements during the period

Events where the site is open for people to follow picture trails on various themes: Easter eggs, pumpkins, 12 days of Christmas, birds.

Fundraising events, Easter, Strawberry Fayre, Heritage Open Days, two Quiz nights, Plant sale.

Events for children, Mediaeval Day, Teddy Bears Picnic, Spooky Crafts, engagement with local schools.

Events for adults, Photography workshop, willow basket workshop.

The charity’s policy on reserves

The Trustees agreed with Heritage Lottery Fund to maintain a reserve of £5,917.

Financial review & risks

The grant from Heritage Lottery Funding came to an end in July 2022. This, combined with the current inflationary pressures combine to create financial concern. Our net operating loss in this accounting year was £8,051.11. However, this figure included two insurance premiums of around £2,000 each and no income from membership fees.

Taking our Reserve policy into account, the available current account funds as of 31/03/2023 are £2,956.27.

The charity's sustainable financial health is dependent on raising money whilst fulfilling our charitable objectives.

There are plans to:

Develop new activities, particularly focussing on the local history and habitats. Apply for new funding streams.

To develop 'Friends of the Tower' through annual donations. To encourage ad hoc donations at events and online.
