Governance and management

The charity is operated under the rules of its trust deed adopted 12 May 2010.

New trustees are recruited at the AGM.

Objectives and activities

The provision of maintenance, repair and restoration of the Tower and grounds. To promote preservation.

To enhance and conserve the natural habitat and biodiversity within the site. To educate the public in the history and heritage of the Tower and grounds.

Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit

An annual programme of fund raising events both on and off site. Observe a regular monitoring of our Maintenance Plan.

We have a regular grounds maintenance plan to keep the site in a safe and attractive manner and a risk assessment is always carried out before events. The site is always open to the public although the Tower is only open whenever there are volunteers on site.

We also have a membership scheme.

Events are always advertised on our website, Facebook, posters displayed locally and within the site.

Bramcote Old Church Tower Trust

Public benefit statement

The Trustees confirm that they have complied with the duty in section 17 of the Charities Act 2011 to have due regard to the Charity Commission's general guidance on public benefit, 'Charities and Public Benefit'.

Summary of the main achievements during the period

We had a very full programme of events arranged for 2020 but due to Covid-19, this was seriously reduced. The following events were cancelled: Easter Egg Hunt, Ceilidh, AGM, Bat talk, Moth event, Archaeology Day, Local Carnival, Strawberry Fayre, Art Day, Teddy Bear's Picnic, Family Fun Sunday and Quiz Night.

We were able to open the weekend of Heritage Open Days in September 2020 albeit by pre-booking and limiting numbers. Nevertheless, it was very popular and successful.

In October we organised a Pumpkin Picture Trail on site followed by a 12 Days of Christmas Picture Trail in December/January.

In February one of our members purchased wood to make bird boxes. These were offered for sale in either kit form or already constructed. At the same time there was a further Picture Trail on site focusing on Birds. Our final event was for Mothering Sunday in March 2021. We purchased undecorated ceramic bird feeders, small pots of acrylic paints, paint brushes and varnish and offered a set for purchase. These were very popular too. We are hoping that the summer of 2021 will allow us to open to the public much more often so we can enjoy what we are good at welcoming visitors to our heritage building!

Our supporters are brilliant, giving so much of their time to the project, no matter what the task.

One of the aims we have during the HL grant period is to increase the number of volunteers we can call on. Unfortunately Covid-19 has made this really difficult at the moment but we hope to achieve our aim during 2021.

The charity’s policy on reserves

We don't have a written policy on keeping any specific reserves. However, a financial report is always submitted at each Trustee meeting and discussed.

Financial review & risks

We have been extremely fortunate since the Autumn of 2017 as much of our expenditure since then has been covered by our Heritage Lottery grant. This has meant that the balance of our current account (Barclays) is healthy. The Grant expiry date is January 31[st] 2022.

Although we have been unable to keep too much of our prearranged programme of events, and look forward to the revenue that would have created, most of our expenditure has been for work that has been covered by our Heritage Lottery Grant. This has left our current account still healthy.
