FOR THE YEAR ENDED 30 SEPTEMBER 2024
The trustees present their annual report and financial slalemenls for the year ended 30 September 2024.
The accoun15 have been prepared in accordance with the accounting policies sel out in note 1 to the accounts
and comply with the charity's trust deeds, the Companies Act 2006 and "Accounting and Reporting by Chafilies.
Slalemenl of Recommended Practice applicable lo charities preparing their accounts in accordance with Ihe
Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102} las amended for
accounting periods commencing from 1 January 20161.
Objectives and activities
The charity's objecls are..
To promote and advance for the benefit of the public agriculture, horticullure and rural crafts and skills in all their
branches by the improvement ol livestock and the demonslralion and showing of livestock, machinery, drafts,
products, methods and processes connected with agriculture and agricultural education in particular through the
holding of shows.
To make such grants and donations lo such registered charities as the Iruslees see fit.
The Iruslees have paid duo regard lo guidance issued by the Charity Commission in deciding what activities the
charity should undertake.
Achievement8 and performance
The board of directors and Iruslees were pleased with Ihe results of anothèr successful show which generated
record levels of income. The show generated sufficient lunds lo allow lor the Iruslees lo sel aside a sum of
£16,000 lo be allocated lo charitable causes. In addition. a sum of £4.000 has been reserved as a resllicléd fund
lo provide bursaries for education in agricullufe.
Financial revlew
11 is the policy of the ¢harily lo maintain unreslricled funds, which are the ffee reserves of the charity, al a level
which equales approximately lo the overall fixed costs of the following annual show.
The closing unreslricled funds of £40,489 are considered sufficient lo cover ongoing costs and the fixed costs for
next year'5 show.
Under the Memorandum and Articles of Associalion, the charity has the power lo invest funds in any way the
Iruslees afe agreed on.
The Iruslees have examined the major slralegic, business and operational risks which the charity laces and
confirm systems have been established lo enable regular reports lo be produced so that the necessary steps can
be taken lo lessen these risks.
All section leaders complete risk assessments and trained stewards ale present al all aclivilies. This remains
under constant review.

Structure, governance and management
The charity has been sel up as a company limited by guarantee and is governed by its Memorandum and Articles
of Association dated 20 January 2009 as amended by a resolution dated 19 March 2010. 11 is a regisle¥ed charity
with the Charity Commission with a registered number 1135686.
Membership is open lo all individuals who in the opinion of the Council are desirable persons lo be admilled.
Each member agrees lo conlribule £10 in the event of the charity winding up.

The Iruslees, who are also the difeclors of Blaslon & District Agricultural Show Society for the purpose ol company
law. are responsible foi preparing the Trustees, Report and the financial slalemenls in accordance with applicable
law and United Kingdom Accounting Standards {Uniled Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Praclicel.
Company Law requires the Iruslees lo prepare financial slalemenls for each financial year which give a true and fair
view of the slate of affairs of the charity arid of the iiicoming resources arid applicalioii of iesources, including the
income and expenditure, of the charitable company for that year.
In preparing these financial slalemenls, the Iruslees are required lo..
select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently.,
observe the methods and principles in the Charities SORP.,
make judgements and eslimales Ihal are reasonable and prudent., and
prepare the financial slalemenls on the going concern basis unless il is inappropriate lo presume that the charity
will continue in operalion.
The Iruslees are responsible for keeping adequate accounting records that disclose with reasoiiable aGcuracy al
any lime the financial position of the charity and enable them lo ensure that the financial slalemenls comply with the
Companies Acl 2006. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and hence for taking
reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.

Charlty Information
Blaslon & Oislricl Agricultural Show Society is a private company limited by guarantee incorporated in
England and Wales. The regislered office is Ireland & Company, 10 Slalion Street, Kibworth, Leicesleishiro.
LE8 OLN.
1.1 Accounting conventlon
The accounts have been prepared in accordance with the chafily's governing documents the Companies Act
2006 and "Accounting and Reporting by Charities Slalemenl ol Recommended Practice applicable lo
charities piepafing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK
and Republic of Ireland IFRS 102} las amended for accountin9 periods commencing from 1 January 2016).
The charity is a Public Benefit Enlily as defined by FRS 102.
The charity has taken advanla9e of the provisions in the SORP for charities applying FRS 102 Updala
Bulletin 1 not lo prepare a Slalemenl of Cash Flows.
The accounts are prepared in sterling. which is the functional currency of the charity. Monetary amounts in
these financial slalemenls are rounded lo the nearest £.
The financial slalemenls have been prepared under the hislorical cost convention. The principal accounting
policies adopted are sel out below.
1.2 Going concern
The Iruslees are confident that the charily h35 adequate resources to continue in operational existence for the
foreseeable future. Thus the Iruslees coi)linue lo adopt the goiiig concern basis of accoui)liiig in preparing Ihe
financial slalemenls.
1.3 Charitable fundg
Unreslricled fuiids are available for use al the discretion of the Iruslees in furtherance of their charitable
obieclives.
Reslricled funds are subject lo specific conditions by donors as lo how they may be used. The purposes and
uses of Ihe resliicled funds are sel out in the notes to the financial slalemenls,
Endowment funds are subjecl lo spe¢ifi¢ conditions by donors that the capital musl be maintained by the
charity.
1.4 Incoming resour¢es
Income 15 recognised when the charity is legally enlilled lo il after any performance conditions have been mel,
the amounts can be measured reliably, and il is probable that income will be received.
1.5 Resources expended
Expenditure is recognised once there is a legal or conslruclive obligation lo transfer economic benefit ta
third party, il is piobable that a transfer of economic benefits will be iequired in selllemenl, and the amount of
the obligation can be measured reliably.
Expenditure is classified by aclivily. The costs of each activity are made up of the total of direcl costs and
shared costs, including support costs involved in undertaking each activity. Direct costs allribulable lo a single
activity are allocated directly to that aclivily. Shared costs which contribute lo more than one activity and
support costs which are not atlribulable lo a single aclivily are apportioned between those activities on a basis
consislenl with the use of resources. Central staff costs are allocated on the basis of time spent, and
depreciation charges are allocated on the portion of the asset's use.

Tangible fixed assets are initially measured at cost and subsequently measured al cost Of valuation, nel of
depreciation and any impairment losses.
Depreciation is recognised so as lo write off the ¢osl or valualion of assels less their residual values over their

The gain or loss arising on the disposal of an asset is determined as the difference between the sale
proceeds and the ¢arrying value of the asset. and is recognised in the slalemenl of financial a¢livilies.
1.7 Impalrment of flxed assets
Al each reporting end dale, the charity reviews the carrying amounts of ils tangible assets lo determine
whether there is any indication that those assets have suffered an impairment loss. If any such indication
exists, the recoverable amount of the as5el is eslimaled in order lo determine the exlenl of the impairment
loss lif any).
1.8 Stocks
Stocks are slated al the lower of ¢osl and net realisable value,

Cash and cash equivalents include cash in hand, deposits held al call with banks, other short-lerm liquid
investments with original malurilies of three months or less.
1.10 Flnanclal Instruments
The charity has elected lo apply the provisions of Section 11 'Basic Financial Inslrumenls, and Section 12
'Olhef Financial Instruments Issues, of FRS 102 to all of ils financial inslrumenls.
Financial instruments are recognised in the charity's balance sheet when the charity becomes party lo the
conlraclual provisions of the inslrumenl.
Financial assets and liabilities are offset, with the nel amounts presented in the financial slalemenls, when
there is a legally enforceable right lo sel off the recognised amounts and there is an intention lo sellle on a
net basis or lo reali5e the asset and sellle the liabilily simultaneously.
Basic financial assets
Basic financial assets, which include debtors and cash and bank balances. are initially measured al
Iransaclioii price including transaction cosls and are subsequei)Ily carried al amortised cost usiiig the

year or less, If not, they are presented as non-CLirrenl liabilities. Trade creditors are recognised initially al
transaction price and subsequently measured al amortised cost using the effective interest method.
