2. The majority of animals are admitted / released / rehomed within the East Midlands and surrounding areas. We do however admit and rehome some further afield, especially farm animals. We will always consider suitable homes anywhere in the county.
3. We have no official relationship with any charity or organisation; we do though work with many other animal rescue charities and organisations across the country, when organising and coordinating the rescue and re-homing of animals or providing / obtaining advice.

For the benefit of the public to relieve the suffering and distress of animals in need of care and attention by reason of sickness, neglect, or mistreatment and in particular to provide and maintain rescue homes or other facilities for the treatment of such animals, to educate the public on matters concerning animal welfare.

- We provide expert advice to member s of the public in many matters from the welfare of pets to concerns about wildlife.
- • Whenever pets or farm animals re adopted out, we provide experienced advice on their treatment and welfare.
- • We often receive requests from other organisations on animal matters, this can be other rescues, charities, vet practices as well as authorities.
- • A full breakdown of wild, pet and farm animals we have admitted during the year is in section D.

The Charity has volunteers ever day of the week at the sanctuary from early in the morning to dusk, we have no paid employed staff.

The Charity could not operate without the hard work and dedication from our volunteers, who perform, amongst other activities, the following.
- Trustees.

- • Animal collection and delivery. • Fundraising.
- Social Media upkeep.
- • Providing talks and presentations to community groups. • Skilled services, for example, building and maintaining animal enclosures, servicing and repair the charities vehicles.

The Charity receives funding from the following;

This report covers for the period 1 January 2021 to 31 December 2021.
Brinsley Animal Rescue was formed in 2009 and became a Registered Charity on 14 April 2010. The Charity is run solely by volunteers. The Charity is operated from property and land owned by two of the four Trustees. The 22 acres of land, comprising of a number of fields and enclosures, stable block, stable yard, manage, wildlife hospital and volunteers’ room are provided to the Charity free of charge.
2021 was a very challenging year for the charity not least due to the pandemic which had a financial impact, with the cancelling of all fundraising events and the impact on volunteers having to isolate and avoid others.
The charity adapted by reducing spend, managing the animal admissions to balance the available resources of volunteers and funds.

Due to the significant challenges in 2021, the number of animals admitted decrease from 937 in 2020 to 822 animals in 2021, however the number rehomed (pets & farm animals) or released (wild animals) remained relatively the same from 531 in 2020 to 502 in 2021.
The number of pets and farm animals that the Charity was not in a position to admit into its care, due to a lack of available resources (money, time, space) increased significantly from 685 in 2020 to 1114 in 2020, an increase of 61%. The majority of this increase came from people trying to give up pets that they had bought during lockdown.
The Charites income increased in 2021 from £111,959 in 2020 to £124. 612 in 2021.
During the year the charity dealt with 822 wild, pet and farm animals, of these 502 animals were released back into the wild or in the case of pets and farm animals re-homed, 68 were euthanised in accordance with our non-euthanasia policy, 106 died and 148 remain in the care of the Charity at the sanctuary.
Unfortunately, there were many pets that the Charity simply could not rescue due to financial, time or accommodation constraints. A summary of the pets and farm animals the Charity was called on to help but could not be due to a lack of resources is summarised below;
