## **Bedworth Wesleyan Reform Church** ## **Trustees Report for the period 1[st] January to 31[st] December 2023** ## **Administrative Information** Bedworth Wesleyan Reform Church is situated on Bulkington Road, Bedworth. Warwickshire, CV12 9DH The church is governed by the board of trustees which abides by the Trust Deed set up in 1911, on the consecration of the church building. The trustees are the guardians of the doctrine and also have a legal responsibility to ensure that the church complies with the laws of England and Wales. Every trustee is a church member. ## **Objectives** The trustees are committed to ensuring that as many people as possi9ble are able to worship the living God, through reading the Holy Scriptures, prayer, the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper, and through the ministry of music, at church services. They are also committed to ensuring that the church is known in our locality. We seek to serve God the Father, our Creator, and God the Son, our Saviour, through the indwelling of God the Holy Spirit, our Comforter and Helper. In serving other people we are able to fulfil this commitment. ## **Wesleyan Reform Union** The Church is a member of the Wesleyan Reform Union of Churches, which is based in Church Street, Barnsley, Yorkshire. The Church adheres to the doctrine of the Wesleyan Reform Union as set out in their Handbook. ## **Governance and Management** The trustees’ responsibilities are set out as above, under ‘Administrative Duties.’ The Church Members are responsible for decision making on general matters, and they decide on how the church funds should be spent. The Church Members’ Meetings are held every two months. ## **Church Membership** Anyone who desires to become a member of Bedworth Wesleyan Reform Church, and who has professed their faith in one God, and in his Son, Jesus Christ, shall have their name presented to the Church Members at a Church Members’ Meeting. Prospective members will have been attending the church regularly, for worship services and other meetings and events for a period of not less than six months prior to the Church Members’ Meeting and will be expected to be come fully involved in the activities of the Church. We do not generally have a formal membership service but will do so on request. 1 ## **Services of Worship** Our Services of Worship are held on Sundays at 10:30am, where the truth of God’s Word is preached. These services are open to all. Additional services as announced. ## **Children and Young People** We do not currently have an active ministry among Children and Young People, but there are facilities on site for parents to supervise their own children during Services of Worship and other activities. ## **Church Safeguarding** We are currently recruiting for the posts of Safeguarding Officer and Deputy Safeguarding Officer. We use the services of the Wesleyan Reform Union’s Safeguarding Trainer. We have a Safeguarding Policy in place. Anyone who has regular contact with children and vulnerable adults have undergone DBS checks, and all have clear records. ## **Bible Study and Prayer Meetings** Combined Bible Study and Prayer Meetings are held at the Church on Tuesday evenings from 7:30pm. These meetings are well-supported and we always welcome new-comers. ## **Missions Work** The Church supports the home and overseas mission activities of the Wesleyan Reform Union as well as those of external charities and aid organisations. During the year, the Church gave £60 to the Union’s Home Missions Department. ## **The Trustees** The Trustees currently holding office are Mr Colin Johnson and Mrs Natalie Johnson. We are currently seeking additional Trustees. ## **Finance** The church accounts are as shown elsewhere in this account. We acknowledge the weekly giving of all who attend our worship services. ## **General Data Protection Regulation Compliance** The church has a GDPR policy in place. All church members who have a responsibility under these Regulations have been trained in their use and have signed a document to say they agree to comply with them. ## **The Minister** Our Minister, Mr Graham Johnson, leads our worship services and our Bible Study and Prayer Meetings. He takes a full part in other activities of the church. He is currently awaiting ordination within the Wesleyan Reform Union. 2 ## **Volunteers** We express our thanks to all the volunteers who work hard to make our church a welcoming place, and also for undertaking tasks that keep our property in good order.
