The Trustees who are also directorsof the charityfor the purposesof the CompaniesAct 2006, present their annual report
withthefinancialstatementsof thecharitablecompanyfortheyearended28 February2023.Thetrusteeshave adopted
theprovisionsofAccountingandReportingbyCharities:StatementsofRecommendedPracticeapplicableto charities
preparingtheiraccountsin accordancewith the FinancialReportingStandardapplicablein the UK and Republicof  Ireland
(FRS 102).

OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES

Objectives and aims

The objects of the charity as set out in its Articles of Association are:
(1)Tosupportthemental,educational,spiritual,cultural,moralandphysicaldevelopment,healthandimprovement of
youngpeopleundertheageof35whowereborn,areconnectedto,workorlivewithinYorkshiresothatthey can
develop their full capacities and become responsible members of society with improved conditions of life and health.
(2) To benefit such other exclusively charitable objectives and purposes as the charity may determine from time to time.
The principleethosof the charityis to raisemoneyfor charitableprojectsfor youngpeoplein Yorkshire,givingpriority to
thosewhodonothavesignificantfundraisingcapabilities.Theessenceofthecharityistoacknowledgeand reward
achievementbyyoungpeopleinYorkshirewhilstusingthatopportunityasafoundationtoraisemoneyforthe same
group.TheFoundation,andthroughitsannualawards,seeksnotonlytogivefinancialgrantstosuchbeneficiaries but
also to raise awareness of their causes through media attention and supporting partners of the charity.
Thecharitywillbenefityoungpeopleundertheageof35whocanshowsomeexampleoftheirconnectionwith the
Yorkshireregionwhetherby birth,placeof living,workplaceor some otherconnection.The beneficiaryis intendedto be
a childor youngpersonwhose life wouldbenefitfrom the givingof a grantin orderthatthey can become a well rounded
adult,thereforetheeligiblerangeiscappedat35.ThebeneficiariesmayapplyforagrantortheFoundationmay have
heardofthebeneficiarythroughanothersource.Thebeneficiariesareconsideredontheweightoftheircause and
whetherit relatesto the mental,educational,spiritual,cultural,moralandphysicaldevelopment,healthor  improvement
of young people.
It is also envisagedthat some of the monies raised will be given to other registeredcharitiesand to other charitable causes
whichmay operatefor the preventionor relief of poverty,the advancementof education,religion,healthor the saving of
lives,citizenshiporcommunitydevelopment,thearts,culture,heritageorscience,amateursportoranyother charitable
cause.
The trusteeshave appointeda Grants Committeeto considergrant applicationsmade to the charityand to check whether
thesemeetitsgrantmakingpolicyandguidelines.HavingconsideredapplicationsmadetheGrantsCommittee makes
recommendationstothetrusteesastothepaymentofGrants.Suchrecommendationsarethenconsideredby the
trustees at their next meeting and as a result they are ultimately responsible for deciding which grants should be paid.

OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES

Main activities and achievements

The aim of the charityis to raise funds in order to meet its charitableobjectivesas set out above and in the circumstances
itsactivitiesmainlycompriseofarrangingfundraisingevents.Themorefundsthecharitycanraisefrom fundraising
eventsandfunctionsthe more individuals,registeredcharitiesandotherorganisationswhichfallwithinits objectives will
benefit.
Themainactivityofthecharityforraisingfundsisitsannualawardsdinner,knownastheYorkshireYoung Achievers
Awards.
Various donations were received in the year totalling £57,514 (2022 - £44,350).

Public benefit

WehavereferredtotheCharityCommission'sguidanceonpublicbenefit-including'PublicBenefit:thepublic benefit
requirement(PB1)'and'PublicBenefit:runninga charity(PB2)'- whenreviewingouraims andobjectivesandin planning
currentand futureactivities.The achievementsand activitiesoutlinedin this reportdemonstratethe publicbenefit arising
from the charity's activities.

Grantmaking

A numberof grantswere made to institutionstotalling£22,825(2022- £8,200)as detailedin note6. No grantswere  paid
to individuals during the year (2022 - £5,000).

FINANCIAL REVIEW

Financial position

Duringtheyear,thecharitablecompanyreceiveddonationsandinterestincometotalling£59,308(2022- £44,364).
Expenditure incurred on raising funds totalled £37,553 (2022 £3,829) and grants paid totalled £22,825 (2022: £13,200).
The overall deficit for the year was £1,070 (2022 - surplus £27,335).

Reserves policy

It is the trustees policy to maintain free reserves of at least £10,000 in order to ensure the financial stability of the charity.
Thefreereservesarerepresentedbymoniesheldonthecharity'sbankaccountonwhichinterestisreceived.Inview of
theleveloffundsgenerallyheld,theneedtohavethesereadilyaccessibletogetherwiththefactthatinterestrates are
currentlylowthetrusteesaresatisfiedwiththerateofreturnreceivedbearinginmindthelowlevelofrisk associated
with holding the monies in this account.
At28February2023,thecharityhadfreereservesof£78,285(2022- £79,355)whichishigherthanthatofour reserves
policy. However, the grants committee and trustees are processing applications in order to spend these reserves down.

Governing document

ThecharityiscontrolledbyitsMemorandumandArticlesofAssociation,andconstitutesalimitedcompany,limited by
guarantee, as defined by the Companies Act 2006.

Recruitment and appointment of new trustees

ThemembersofthecharitablecompanyarealsoitstrusteesandmayinaccordancewiththeArticlesofAssociation, by
ordinary resolution, appoint a person who is willing to act as a trustee.

Independent examiner's report to the trustees of The Yorkshire Young Achievers Foundation ('the Company')

I report to the charity trustees on my examination of the accounts of the Company for the year ended 28 February 2023.

Responsibilities and basis of report

As thecharity'strusteesof theCompany(andalsoitsdirectorsforthepurposesof companylaw)youareresponsible for
the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Companies Act 2006 ('the 2006 Act').
HavingsatisfiedmyselfthattheaccountsoftheCompanyarenotrequiredtobeauditedunderPart16ofthe2006 Act
andareeligibleforindependentexamination,I reportinrespectofmyexaminationofyourcharity'saccountsas carried
outunderSection145oftheCharitiesAct2011('the2011Act').IncarryingoutmyexaminationIhavefollowed the
Directions given by the Charity Commission under Section 145(5) (b) of the 2011 Act.

Independent examiner's statement

Ihavecompletedmyexamination.Iconfirmthatnomattershavecometomyattentioninconnectionwith the
examination giving me cause to believe:

1. accounting records were not kept in respect of the Company as required by Section 386 of the 2006 Act; or

2. the accounts do not accord with those records; or

3. the accounts do not comply with the accounting requirements of Section 396 of the 2006 Act other than any requirement that the accounts give a true and fair view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination; or

4. the accounts have not been prepared in accordance with the methods and principles of the Statement of Recommended Practice for accounting and reporting by charities (applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102)).

I have no concernsand have come acrossno othermattersin connectionwith the examinationto whichattention should

1. ACCOUNTING POLICIES

Basis of preparing the financial statements

Thefinancialstatementsofthecharitablecompany,whichisapublicbenefitentityunderFRS102,have been
preparedinaccordancewiththeCharitiesSORP(FRS102)'AccountingandReportingbyCharities:Statement of
RecommendedPracticeapplicableto charitiespreparingtheir accountsin accordancewith the Financial Reporting
StandardapplicableintheUKandRepublicofIreland(FRS102)(effective1January2019)',Financial Reporting
Standard102'TheFinancialReportingStandardapplicableintheUKandRepublicofIreland'andthe Companies
Act 2006. The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention.
Thefinancialstatementsarepreparedinsterling£,whichisthefunctionalcurrencyofthecompany. Monetary
amounts in these financial statements are rounded to the nearest £.

Going concern

At thetimeof signingtheseaccountstheTrusteesareof theopinionthattheCompanywillremainviablefor the
foreseeable future and therefore these Financial Statements have been prepared on the Going Concern basis.

Income

AllincomeisrecognisedintheStatementofFinancialActivitiesintheyearinwhichitisreceivable.Thisis when
thecharityislegallyentitledtotheincome,thereissufficientcertaintyofreceiptandsoitisprobablethat the
income will be received, and the amount can be measured reliably.
Donatedservicesandfacilitiesareincludedwherethebenefittothecharityisreasonablyquantifiable and
measurable.Theseareincludedattheestimatedvaluetothecharitywhichisthepricethecharityestimates it
would pay in the open market. A corresponding amount is recognised in expenditure in the year of receipt.

Expenditure

Liabilitiesarerecognisedasexpenditureassoonasthereisalegalorconstructiveobligationcommitting the
charityto that expenditure,it is probablethat settlementwill be requiredand the amountof the obligationcan be
measured reliably.
The charity is not registered for VAT and accordingly expenditure is shown gross of irrecoverable VAT.
All expenditure is accounted for on the accruals basis.
Expenditure is allocated to a particular activity where the cost relates directly to that activity.
Where expenditure,includingsupportand governancecosts, cannotbe directlyattributedto a particularactivity it
has been allocated to activities on a basis consistent with the use of the resources.
Costs of raisingfunds are those costs incurredin attractingvoluntaryincome and includethe costs associated with
fundraising activities.
Supportcosts are thosecosts thatwhilstnecessaryto deliveran activity,do not themselvesproduceor constitute
the output of the charitable activity. In the main these comprise of general management and administration costs.
Governancecosts are thosecosts associatedwith the governancearrangementsof the charityand whichrelate to
its general running as opposed to its fundraising or charitable activities.

The charity is exempt from corporation tax on its charitable activities.

Unrestricted funds can be used in accordance with the charitable objectives at the discretion of the trustees.

arise when specified by the donor or when funds are raised for particular restricted purposes.
