GENR8 Registered Charity No. 1135194 Introduction The trustees present their report and the financial statements of the charity for the year ended 31 March 2025. The trustees have adopted the provisions of the Statement of Recommended Practice (SORPI "Accounting and Reporting by Charities (revised 20051" in preparing the annual report and financial statements of the charity. Charity Ststus GENR8 was constituted as an organisation in February 2010 and wa5 registered as a charity on 25th March 2010. The charity registration number is 1135194. The governing document of the charity is a Declaration of Trust adopted on the 2nd February 2010. The registered office and principal address of the charity is GENR8. PO Box 1474. Cambridge, CB24 9UF Charfty Objectives The charity's objects as stated in the constitution. adopted on the 2nd February 2010 are: To advance the Christian faith for the benefit of the public. by Presenting Christian values and themes to school aged children Working in partnership with schools to advance Christian education Working in partnership with churches in building positive relationships with local schools Enabling and equipping Christian volunteers to fulfil these objerts Scope of Operation GENR8'5 geographic scope of operatlon is in East Anglia and East England, UK Annual Accounts This set of annual accounts 15 for the year ended 31Si March 2025. The income for the year was £72.33112024 58.7161 and the expenditure was £51.253 (2024 £67,955}. GENR8 Registered Charity No. 1135194 Independent Examlner The charity is grateful for the services of Chris Eggar as Independent Examiner. Volunteers GENR8 meets its objectives through the extensive contribution of volunteers who are involved in all aspects of the charitrfs operations. The charity is grateful for the commitment of over 75 volunteers during the past year. Reserves Policy The charity keeps enou8h reserve for the cost of winding up the charity which will cover the three month notice period for employees and other associated costs. The running costs of the charity for four months amounts to approximately £20,0(K) and at the year end at 31st March 2025 the a55ets of the charity exceeded thi5 amount. The amount held in resetves is 3150 to cover plans for potential new employees. Risk assessment The trustees have considered the key operational, financial, and strategic risk5 that have a bearing on the charity. Suitable management information is available to the trustees on a regular basis to monitor these risks. and allow any mitigating action to be taken to address them. Publsc beneflt The charity trustees have complied with their duty to have due regard to the guidance on public benefit in section 4 of the 2011 Charities Art, and the supplementary guidance on the advancement of religion for the public benefit, published by the Charity Commission in exercislng their powers and duties. Revlew of the Year This is our fifteenth annual report as a registered charity. SCHOOLS WORK Assembly Presentations Each term. teams of 3 to 5 volunteers take twenty five minute, high energy, assembly presentations into primary and first schools. Each a55embly includes a Bible sketch, puppets, son& reflection time and prayer, plus lots of interaction and funl Assemblies are accompanied by follow-up materials that can be used in class. Fourteams in Cambridgeshire and North Hertfordshire, along with the West Norfolk affiliate team, took the message of Jesus into primary schools. Easter- A'New Starf visited 114 sthools sharing the Easter narrative using the perspective of Peter. Peter let Jesus down but was forgiven and we shared that we too can be forgiven because of the events of Easter. Summer-'RespecY visited 88 schools and looked at howjesus shows us how to live. It also shared his words that we should treat others as we would want to be treated. Christmas assembty- 'No Room. visited 127 schools looking at how it can be difficult to make time and room for Jesus in our Christmas celebration5. The children particularly enjoyed joining the wise men in a chant as they took the time to journey to find Jesus. the baby King.
GENR8 Registered Charity No. 1135194 West Norfolk Affillate Team reflections The team took the Easter assembly into 17 Schools and it wa5very much appreciatedl At Christmas we visited 22 schools and also presented the assembly in the two churche5 which the team member5 attend. We felt it was a really good script and had a great response from all the schools nd those in church Servi51 The wise men chant was thoroughly enjoyed and everyone joined in with gusto! Also, the Busy. busy song received spontaneous applause in many of the venues! Inspire Prayer Space5 Reflective spaces that encourage children to connect with God and explore values, faith and spirituality in a creative and interactive way. Each prayer space acttvity encourages children to consider their beliets. emotions and experiences in a safe environment. We are proud to be part of the Prayer Spaces in Schools network. Inspire Permanent Prayer Spaces A permanent space (a chair in the corridor, a corner in the library, a quiet room. a notice board with a table) set up as a reflective area with the resources that GenR8 provide. It is a hands-on display that uses colourful stimuli and resources focusing on church festivals, Christian values and other aspects of the SMSC {Spiritual. Moral, Social and Culturall curriculum. We provided materials for the following themes in 2024: Spring terni- Humility: asking the question- Do you put others first? Lent." with a challenge to think of ways to be more generous. Summer temi- Celebrations.. inNiting children to say thank you to God for all the times they have been able to get together with others to celebrate: Chonging ond Growing: illustrated using butterflies, to tie in with the end of term and all the changes this brings for the children. Autumn terni- HaeSt." giving thanks for our food and meMber[ng charities e.g. The Trussell Trust who give food parce15 to anyone in need- Remembrance= reflecting on how th we look to honour others by stopping at 11 o'clock on the iith day of the 11 month each year- Advent: thinking about watting and God's timing. Insplre Prayer Space Days A hall. classroom or church is transformed into a sanrtuary of calm with a range of hand5-on and flexible resources for one or two whole days. Children vistt in groups to explore the activities in the space. moving around independently. Themes are varied and range from Christmas and Easter to values such as peace. Cool Choices A two hour interactive workshop aimed at Year 6 students to help them make positive life choices. Their objective is to help pupils understand the factors influencing their decisions and give a Christian perspertive on making good choices. Each school was visited by 2 team members who led the sessions using PowerPoints. video clips and fun game5. as well as facilitating discussions about the topics raised.
GENR8 Registered Charity No. 1135194 IVS Your Move Ivs Your Move 15 an interactive workshop for Year 6 students about to make the transition to secondaryschool and often led by teams including students from Years 11 and 13. These students share their experiences and give encouragement to Year 6 pupils approaching this major life change. The Scripture Union Iys Your Move book. upon which the workshop is based, is given to each student at the end of the session. In July 2024 we visited primary schools to provide reassurance to Year 6 student5 moving up to secondary school. Two young peoplejoined Sian to take the IVS Your Move books. transition prayer spaces bag5. fun activities and interaction into classes. Each prayer bag contained six items. each linked to a prayer space activity: these encouraged the thildren to reflect on their time at primary school, to consider their thoughts and feelings about the move to secondary. and, rf they wanted. to pray. CHILDREN OLITSIDE SCHOOLS Xcellr8 weekend Xcellr8 is an annual two-day event for 8 to 11 year olds which seek5 to help children meet with God, as they join with others from around the region. Fun. friendship and faith are all on the agenda. Xcellr8 is held at Histon Baptist Church on the first weekend of February half term. The theme for 2024 was Particip8 and together, we explored what it mean5 to be a part of God's team, and a member ofthe body of Christ.The teaching sessions used Paul's sporting analogies as a metaphor for our own journey of faith. We looked at the body of Christ as an elite sporting team, how we fit in with that team and what we are aiming for. 'Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth... For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.. from Matthew 6=19-21. Fifty-seven children attended and explored what it means to be a part of God's team. and a member of the body of Christ. As well as the teaching sessions, other activities included craft, swimming. wide garne. Praise Party, great food. and lots of fun! Churth services and events This year GenR8 have been invited to several Cambridge and surrounding area churches including St Martin'5 Church, St Philip's Church, Arbury Community Church. Great Shelford Free Church, Godmanchester Baptist Church, Cottenham Baptist Church. plus the Comberton Ecumenical church service. GenR8 took part in 2 events in Cambridge. the CamCAN (Cambridge Christian Artion Network} showcase and Pentecost on the Park organised by Cambridge Revival Hub. These events offer an opportunity to meet to form connections and encourage each other in our outreach. GenR8 21st Birthday The 21st celebration on 20 January hosted at Great Shelford Free Church was a great chance to gathersupporters and look back at what hasgone before and lookahead to ourfuture.There was a presentation showcasing many of the different programmes that GenR8 runs, plus an exhibition of resources and photos that could be browsed during the birthday tea. GENR8 Registered Charity No. 1135194 People We currently have four paid team members: Full-time director Part-time administrator and bookings co-ordinator Part-time communications co-ordinator Part-time bookkeeper The staff team is supported by several significant volunteer roles. most notably the trustees. assembly team leaders, booking co-ordinators and individuals who support GenR8 in creative and administrative task5. A new part-time administrator joined us in January and our previous director left us in May. Summary We are grateful to individuals. churches and charitable bodies who have continued to 5UPPOrt the work of GenR8.
