TRUSTEES I DIRECTORS. REPORT
Principal Activities and Charitablg Objodivgs
The charity was established for the following purposes..
To increase awareness and understanding of Jewish genetic disorders IJGDsl among affected
families, patient groups, healthcare professionals, and the Jewish and wider ￿mMunity.
To improve access lo the best available information, services, and support relating to Jewish
genetic disorders.
To facilitsle access lo responsible and professional testing services for people at risk of passing
on, and those direcuy affected by, Jewish genetic disorders.
In establishing the activities of the charity, the directors have given due consideration to the Charity
Commission's gLJidance regarding the provision of PLJblic benefit.
Achigvements and Porformanco
The first half of 2023 saw the launch of the charity s second matched funding campaign, which
contributed substantially to the appeallgrants income for 2023 as well as introducing over 2,500 new
donors to Jnelics, helping us lo deliver on our twin objectives to ensure no further children are bom
into our community with any of the devastating genetic conditions that Jnetics lesls for and lo improve
the prevention and management of Jewish Genetic Disorders.
In January 2023, the NHS Jewish BRCA Testing Programme was launched as a pilot, with Jnetics and
Chai delivering the engagement campaign in support of the programme. The results were so
successful, that a delay was imposed on the hard launch whilst additional testing procured to ensure
that demand could be mel at the lime of the hard launch.
Following the atrocities of October 7th a decision was made not to fundraise proactively for last quarter
half of the year, as the community's focus shifted lo Israel and Israeli charities. Nevertheless, the
fundraising successes enjoyed in the first three quarters of the year further secured the financial stability
achieved in 2022, ensuring that we could continue lo support the needs of the community.
Further highlights of 2023 included=
Growth of the Jnelics in Schools Programme, to include non- Jewish schools with high
numbers of Jewish students
Continued growih of Jnelics on Campus, achieving ils highest ever numbers of screenings
The laLJnch of a new bimonthly Scienttfic Lecture series "Diving into our Gene Pool "improving
awareness within community of genetic issues and helping Jnelics fulfil its role as the
community s source for infomation and support on genetics and health
A Chanukah concert attended by 200+ guests al a lime when the Community needed an uplift
2023 saw growth across all 3 recessive screening programmes. The Jnelics clinic functioned at near
capacity 1342 vs 318 in 20221. The Jnelics on Campus universities programme continued lo
demonstrate year on year growth with 324 students screened during 20231209 in 20221. The schools
programme demonstrated further recovery, and. together with educating and screening in all 8
mainstream Jewish secondary schools, we began the expansion of our school screening and education
into non-Jewish schools with a large number of Jewish students, so that the schools programme grew
over 50 % 1526 in 2023 vs 349 in 20221, Continuing ils recovery following the COVID pandemic.
The success and growth across all 3 of our screening programmes was aided by our new expanded
panel (launched Sept 20211 which has increased our relevance lo all sectors of the community,. and in
the case of the clinic the inlroduelion of "couples screening. has improved take up of screening by
parb'cipants thinking of having a child. The move to a virtual screening pro￿$$ for the clinic and the

universities programme has also enabled us lo screen greater numbers across a wider geographi
reach al greater convenience to participants and reduced lime and cost. Only the schools, programmes
remain 'in person,, giving us an opportunity lo incorporate our educational work.
Plans for Future Periods
The first half of 2024 has gol off lo an encouraging start. Following the hugely successful pilot launch
in January 2023, the new NHS BRCA screening programme was formally launched on 30th January
2024 at The House of Lords. The launch exceeded expectations, with a strong marketing, social media
and PR presence ensLJring over 21,000 people signin9 UP to be screened by the end of May 2024, well
ahead of target.
The NHS Jewish BRCA Testing Programme is leading to an increased focus for Jnetics on hereditary
cancers. In April 2024, following an extensive bid process, Jnelics working closely wwth Chai Cancer
Care was re-appointed until June 2026 as the engagement partner for the programme. Jnelics
continues lo be the community's primary initial resource for information and screening on both recessive
and dominant disorders.
The Young Professionals Committee continues lo grow. In early 2024, the committee ran a second
young professionals supper quiz for 200 young adults. helping lo spread the word lo our largel
audience.
Earfy May saw the charity hold ils second ladies, event. This was a significant success both in terms of
both attendees1160 vs 40 in 202211 and funds raised, and introducing a number of new fa￿S to our
work al Jn81ics. This event shows sign of becoming a permanent annual fixture in the fundraising
calendar.
Earfy June, saw the charity hold ils second golf day. Building on the learnings of last year, a number of
new participants came along and enjoyed the day. too is becoming a permanent annual fixture in the
fundraising calendar.
The second half of 2024 will see the continuation of existing and the introduction of new awareness
building activities as we build up to the charity's 3rd match funding campaign planned for November.
Further events in the now established scientific series of lectures will enable us to further expand the
charity's role in educating the community on prevention and better management of JGDS.
An important focus will be placed on developing the educational element of the engagement campaign
in support of the new BRCA screening programme. EnsLJring the community is well informed, educated
and supported through every step of their BRCA joumey is al the core of our work. Jnetics has now
strengthened ils education team lo ensure that we continue to deliver on this core objective.
Looking ahead, as we develop and adopt our new three-year plan over the next few months. we see
the opportunity to build on our solid foundations lo improve our delivery, efficiency and effectiveness,
together with great potential from our expanded panel and the opportunity lo move forward in our work
in relation lo hereditary cancers.
Engagement with and support from the community remain critical lo our success and continues to
improve. We have seen a significant increase in awareness of the community in relation lo JGDS and
the important role of our work, enabling us lo achieve our objectives more easily.

obtained is sufficient and appropriate lo provide a basis for our opinion.
Conclusions relating to going Concern
In auditing the financial slatemenls, we have concluded that the trustees, use of the going concern basis
of accounting in the preparation of the financial statements is appropriate.
Based on the work we have performed, we have not identified any material uncertainties relating lo
events or conditions that, individually or collectively, may cast significant doubt on the ¢harily's ability to
continue as a going concern for a period of al least twelve months from when the financial statements
are authorised for issue.
Our responsibilities and the responsibilities of the directors with respect to going concern are described
in the relevant sections of this report.
Other information
The trustees are responsible for the other infom)alion. The other information comprises the infomation
included in the annual report other than the financial statements and our auditor's report Ihereon. Our
opinion on the financial statements does not cover the other information and, except lo the extent
otherwise expliciuy slated in our report, we do not express any form of assurance conclusion Iheoon.
In connection with our audit of the finsncial stslemenls, our responsibility is lo read the other information
and, in doing so, consider whether the other information is materially inconsislenl with the financial

with laws and regulations.
We inspected the minutes of meetings of those charged with governan￿.
We obtained an understsnding of the legal and regulatory framework that the charity operates
in, focusing on Ihose laws and regulations that had a material effect on the financial statements
or that had a fundamental effect on the operations of the charity from our professional and
sector experience.
We reviewed the financial stslemenl disclosures and lesled these to supporting documentation
to assess compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
We performed analytical procedures to identify any unusual or unexpected relationships that
may indicate risks of material misslalemenl due to fraud.
In addressing the risk of fraud through management override of controls, we tested the
appropriateness of journal entries and other adjustments, assessed whether the judgements
made in making accounting eslimales are indicative of a potential bias and tested significant
tmnsactions that are unusual or those outside the normal course of business.
A further description of our responsibilities for the audit of the financial statements is located on the
