The charity was established for the foll(Iwing purposes..
To increase awareness and understanding of Jewish genetic disorders IJGDs} among affeGted
families. patient groLtps. healthcare profassionals. and the Jewish and wder community.
To improve ac(tss io the best available infotmabon. se￿1￿$. and support rebling to Jewish
geneknc disorders.
To facilitate access to respK)nsible and profess￿nal testing serV￿Sfor people at risk of passing
on, and those affected by, Jewish genetic disorders.
In estrdblishing the actNities of the charity. the direclors have gwen due consideration trj the Char￿1
Commission's guidano regar(ling the proviS￿n of public t*nefrt.
A¢hlevements and P•rforrnanco
The first ha￿ of 2022 saw the launch of the chafity's first matched funding campaign, which rais6d
£464,024.03 and successfvlty intrOdU￿d 2,500 new donors lo Jnetics, helping us to delNer on our tsvin
obj8Ctives- to ansure no furtherchild￿￿ are bom into our community with any of the devastating genetic
conditions that Jneli¢s tests for and to improve the preventKJn and management of Jewish Genetic
Disorders.
The second half of 2022 saw the introduction of a number of new awareness buikling and fundrai&ng
avenues, including Jnetics, fir51 Young Piotsssionals, event, a supper quiz attended by 200 young
adults and the laurs¢h of a series of sC￿nI[fir lectures enabling us to build on the expande(S reach and
rnomenturrt from the matched ftjnding camp8wJrT.
The ftJndr8ising suc￿SseS enjoyed in 2022. achieved financial stabilty for th& organisation, enabliny
development of the resour￿$ required by Jneb"cs to Support the needs of the com¥nunity.
Further highlights of 2022 induded..
our Gala Dinner rn Central London attended by 200 of the charity's key donorslstakeholders.
The dinner prowded the opportunity to share with them and the Wkder community information
on the three-year NHS England BRCA screening programme for anybody with one J￿1$h
grandparent. The soft launch commenced on 30th January 2023.
In October 2022. Jnetics. wort(ing in partnershipwrth Chai Can￿r Care, was appointed by NHS
England to deliver the engagement campai9n to the community in support of the new BRCA
screening programme.
We developed Jnelics, branding lo improve its impact, reflect the devekjpmentof our screening
programmes and tie into the range of media we now use to communicate with the communty.
A new Jnetics website was launched Octcbw 2022, wh￿h has a pc6itwe impact on the
work that we do.
2022 saw growlh acrtr6s all 3 recessÉve scre8ning programmes. The Jneb"cs Clin￿ conb'nue5 to function
al near capacity each mnth. despite the rntroduction of an extra clini¢ (318 participants in 2022 vs 218
in 20211. The schools programme has now recovered to pre£0￿d levels. During the 202212023
ac8demic year, together wtth educats.ng and SCTeening in all 8 rnainstrearn Jewish secondary schools,
we have begun the prctess of screening and educating in non-Jewish schools with a large number of
Jgwish sludenls1328 fomi students in 2022 vs 217 in 20211. The Jnetscs on Campus universities
programme continves lo dernonstrate year on year growth with 244 students screened during this
academic yèar (209 in 2021}

The success and growth acu)ss all 3 ofour screening prOgr￿me9 can in part be attr4buted to the new
expanded panel (launched Sept 2(r211 which has increas&Y our relevance wthin all sectors of the
community.. in the ￿se of the dinic the introducbon of "couples screening" appeals to screening
part¢ipants thinking of h8ving a child. The rrTrove lo a viriual screenirig process for the clinic and the
universicies programme has also enabled us to screen greater numbers across a wider geographic
reach al greater convenience to parkn.￿pants and reduced time and cost. The schools, pro9rammes
remain in person.
Plans for Future P•riods
The first haff of 2023 has again got off to an en(Duraging stsrL The ne4V NHS BRCA screening
programme soft launch on 30th January exceeded all expectations. with over 2,100 people signing up
to be screened. Aclwity has focuséd on engaging comrnunfy stakeholders to ensure the
community are tth aware and property supported as we gear up for the hard launch, n¢)w scheduled
for late Autumn after some delay caused by inadequate screening capa(yty in NHS England- an issue
n(Iw addressed. The pilot scheme ha5 led to an increased fctus for Jnetu in heredrtary cancers.
Jn8ti¢S CL)ntinues to aim to be communty's primary initial ￿sOUrc& for both r￿S$￿e and dominant
disorders.
In January. the charity held its fiF5t ladies luneh event Thrs was a great success and intrOdU￿d a
number of new faces to the liFe5aving work that we do at Jnetics. This will now be a pemianent fixtu
in the fundrai&ng ￿lendar.

seen a signfficanl increase in awareness of the communty in reLqlion to JGDS and the important role of
our work. enabling us lo achieve our objectives more easily.

charity {No. 11349351, govemed by its Memorandum and Articles of Association. The charity was
incorporalgd as Jewish Genebc Disorders UK on 25 November 2009 and changed rts nome to Jnetics
on2 July2015.
