## **THE UNITED REFORMED CHURCH, BROADWAY, CHARITY TRUSTEES’ REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31[ST] DECEMBER 2022**

The Charity was registered on 12[th] March 2010 under Trusts distilled from The United Reformed Church Acts of Parliament(1971 and 1982) and the Scheme of Union. It took over responsibility for those assets of The United Reformed Church, Broadway not vested in other Trustees.

The Charity number is 1134894, and the working name is Broadway URC.

The address of the Church is 77 High Street, Broadway, Worcestershire, WR12 7AL

The Trustees at 31[st] December 2022 were:

Mrs L Holt, Mrs P Wallace, Mrs M Watts, Mrs M.J. Tunwell, Rev. K Louch, Mrs C Browne and C.D. Walters

The Object of the Charity is the advancement of the Christian Faith for the benefit of the public, in accordance with the Scheme of Union of the United Reformed Church.

The Church is part of the West Midlands Synod of the United Reformed Church, and its membership comes from Worcestershire and Gloucestershire.

The Trustees are the same as the serving Elders of the Church and are elected by the Church Members at the Annual Church Meeting in March. Decisions are made by Church Meeting on recommendation from the Elders.

The Church’s Mission Statement is “To know Jesus better, and to make Him better known”. To this end the Church holds services each Sunday morning and at other times. Occasionally other types of service are held to attract those for whom formal worship is unattractive. We also hold programmes of study. There are mid-week activities for the elderly, focussing on wellbeing, and for those with mental issues and their carers. All of these are open to anyone who wishes to attend.

Much of the Church’s activity was severely affected by the Coronavirus. With the easing of lockdown most events, both worship and those for the elderly, have resumed, but with lower numbers. We had hoped to resume some activity with young people, as we had agreed to share the services of an outreach worker with the local Methodist churches. Unfortunately, this did not take place.

Our financial position remains strong. The reduction in the number of people attending physically has resulted in a reduction in offerings, but there has been some savings as the URC has been unable to replace the minister who left in 2021. The Trustees consider that, despite the situation in Ukraine and the rising cost in energy, we remain able to continue our worship and events for the benefit of our community.
