as a whole|Para 1.20|Throughout 2023 we have continued to be actively
engaging with our community through weekly
opportunities to engage and worship as a gathered
community. We have had additional weekly meetings
for discussion of the Christian faith, where people
have grown in deeper relationships and in their faith.
We held monthly prayer meetings throughout the
year and continued our book group, starting a second
season in September. This provided a platform for
reading outside of comfort zones and discussing faith
and debating different opinions brought out by the
books.
We also provide a thriving and supportive
environment for young families, where babies
toddlers and carers can socialize with other families.
We have also organized various groups for
secondary school children, including a Friday social
group with games and crafts. Additionally, we have
continued to see growth in our well-being space
where the young people can chat and engage in
crafts in a calm environment, while considering their
wellbeing.
We hosted Christmas and Easter services, which
were well-received by the local community. For
Easter we hosted a fish and chip supper where the
church community and wider community joined
together to share together. At Christmas, during our
carols service a group signed one of the carols with
the hope of more to come.
This year we hosted two community fun days, there
were events where everyone was welcome to come
in both the summer and at Christmas to have some
fun. Over 500 people attend both of these events.
During the spring we had the joy of a wedding and
renewal of vows. In the Autumn we saw the baptism
of a member within our community.
July saw the first creative retreat day with guest
hosts, who helped to guide participants to share in a
time to concentrate on their faith and the next steps
for them.| |||| |---|---|---| |||In The Autumn we ran a Kintsugi Hope wellbeing
group, over the course of this group relationships
were strengthened and everyone was able to
consider and discuss different aspects of their
wellbeing. A number felt this group helped them to
feel more connected to the church community and
their understanding of God.
Also in the autumn, we hosted a quiz night and began
monthly games sessions for families which engaged

position at the end of the period|Para 1.21|The finances of Leigh Park Baptist Church during
2023 show that a deficit was incurred for the year,
primarily as a result of remedial works that were
required to the buildings electrical system. This work
was completed on time and on budget but resulted in
lower reserves being held. However, the reserves
were sufficient to meet our policy holding requirement
and both income and costs have been addressed by
Trustees during 2024 to ensure that this position is
