The method of appolntment of PCC members Is set out In the Church Representstion Rule5. At Holy Trinity, the PCC consists of the Incumbent. the two Churchwardens, three Deanery Synod member5 and members elected by those of the congregatton who are on the elertoral roll of the Church. Members are elected for three years. and at the last APCM it was agreed that the rule statlng that members could rK>t serve successive temis was repealed. Mernbers can now Stand agaln dlrectly after thelr 3-year term condudes. The PCC meets a mlnlmum of six tlmes a year. There are 153 members on the Churth Electoral Roll. The average Sunday attendan in 2024 lincludin8 those under 16) was 77 and this Is augmented by good attendance at the mar Festfvals of Chrtstmas and Easter. vuln The PCC is 1mmItted to building on the pattern of Sunday wor5hlp already estabIisk. and to developlng new Ideas for speclal servlces. We are committed to maintaining and presering our hlstorlc bulldlngs and In 2024 part of the floor In the church which had collapsed was repalred and strengthened. The roof over the organ loft and part of the south aisle roof were repalred where there had been water ingress, and the gutters were cleaned. We were granted a faculty for a new nave altar in memory of Mkhael Dld(ens, and thls ds dedlcated on Easter Sunday. A quinquennlal reFK)rt completed by our thhltect In October 2023 showed that there were no major YrIS to be urbdertaken, and nothiro major has come to Ilght since. The monthty Saturday Shop has expanded from a small event held in the hall to become a larger Saturday Market held Fn the church. The hours are lOrer. lunches are seNed and the number of craft stslls thattake part has grown to maxlmum capaaty- The regularstalls run by members of the congregation are also popular and the event now regularly provides over £IOLJJ per month to our fvnds.
Holy Trinity complies with the UIrements of the Church of England with respect to good safeguardin8 pract1. Persons who have been Identffied as needing tralnlng have completed courses run by the Dlocese and thls Is monltored by our Parish Safeguarding Offlcer. evements and Performance The PCC is committed to enabling the Church to be open as often as possible, and to welcorning local people and vlsltors to Share in worship both on Sundays and during the week, The Wednesday coffee mornlngs have expanded and now regularly welcome over 25 people each week. There has been extenslve en8agement wlth the congreptlon and wlder communlty. The parlsh offlce 1$ open In the mornings from Tuesday to FrKlay and Is manned by a volunteer admlnlstrator. We have an nswerphone and an e-mail address and both of these are th*cked regularly outslde of office hour5. Our website is updated regularly and all Servi and event s are athlertised there. A weekly on-line newsletter was launched and many people outslde of the congregatlon have slgned up to receive It. A quarterly paper magazlne has been re-started and 2 edltlons were publlshed In 2024. Giving by mernbers of the congregatlon has held up very well and more gNer5 have changed frorn cash in envelopes to standing orders. We have slgned up to the Parlsh Gfvlng Scherne and mernbers of the congregatlon 3re actively encouraged to join this scheme. The Church now has a number of card readlng machines and these are enabling us to accept payments by credit or deblt card. These are helpln8 US to increase donation5 from the wider communlty, especially at speclal seri15 and events. Unfgrtunatefy, desplte several attempts, the Junlor Church has not resumed regular meetln85, but former members are kept Informed of church actfvltles aNI we are hopefvl that thls wlll be able to restart tn the future. There Is a latthful and 8rowln8 cholr and setvln8 team. The church was open for the RKle and Strfde Lwent In September and several members of the con8re8ation took part and were sponsored. Regular malntenance to churth bulldin8s had been carrled out Indudlng works to the hall. Three members of our PCC slt on the Deanery 5ynod- provldSng the PCC wtth an Important Ilnk wlth the Di0Se and the wlder church. Our hall Is open to our communlty and actlvities continue to take place throughout the weeL stone Bay Montessori Nursery is u51r the hall during the day in temi tlme and other 8roups induding Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous and other hirers are also uslng the faality. An increaslng number of groups are also wanting hire the church for concerts.

Our weekly pew sheet also dissemlnates information and is avallable all week for those who vtsit our church outside of the Sunday servi. Totsl Income for the year was £148.119 (2023: £175,017) and total spending for the year was £151,066 12023: £165,645) resuEtlng in a deficit of just £2,947, against a budgeted dt at the be8innin8 of the year of £33,097 whlth means we had a better year financially than planned. As with most years, that15 largely down to the unbud8eted, unexpected, and generous legacy gffts we received; £20,IX¥J from the estate of Caroline Boydell, addln8 to the £30,< that Carollne's estate pald to Holy Trlnlty In 2023, all restrlcted to the upkeep of the bullding: £15,IXKI from Ted Keeplryg to be spent on the enhancement of the wooden fklors In the church: and £100 from the estate of Michael Field. The increase in cashless giving understsndably results In a slight drop in physical cash glven vla the weekly collectlon plate (£4,991 In 2024 compared to £6,012 In 2023) but planned giving via standing order, envelopes and the contlnued success after our launch of the Parish Glving Scheme In 2023 grew £2,107 to £32,44312023: £30,336) a response from the congregatlon's understandlng of the Smportance of their regular finandal support. Income from our hall, and espedally our Montessorl tenants remaln an Important source of income. desplte a small drop on the year I£17,3 in 2024 compared to £17.977 in 2023). The autumn return of our church magazine made a small yet welcome tontrlbutlon on top of the en¥Thent it gave to readers, whlle dlvldends of £9,607 (2023: £9.062) from our investments in our CCLA managed CBF Church of England Investment Fund. and £9A12 from the Gift Ald and GASDS schemes {2023: £93661 completes our diversified mlx of Income.
A bud8etlng error resulted in our partsh share being underpaid by 0.8% (thls balance has slnce been paid) contrlbutlng a total of £90.101 of our £9J.791 quota, or put another way. 61% of all Income raised In 2024. Our commttment to the partsh share continues to put an enomious and dlsproportionate (compared to other churches with a similar quots) strain on our finance5. fundraising and reserves, but the PCC and congregatlon continues to put great efforts into meetln8 our quots 50 that we may ensure full time ministry at Holy Trinity for fvture generations. Our charitable work remains stron& donating £6.681 In totsl in 2024. In contlnuatk)n of our misslon statement Holy Trtnlty gave 5% of Its bud8eted Incorne to carefully selected or8anisatlons of local. natlonal and international reach. resulting in an even distribution of £5,4(X) to ChristSan Solldarlty Worldwlde. the GAP project in BToa(Lstalrs, Motherfs Unlon, Mission Aviation Fellowship, Oasls Women's Refuse, Mlsslon to Seafarers, Pavllion Communlty Cafe, Tollet Twlnnin8 and Porthli8ht. Special collectlons were made for Chrlstlan Ald, Th3net Food Llnk, Chlldren's Socw, the An8llcan Dlocese of Jerusalem's Good Friday Appeal and The Friends of Kent Churche5 vla the annual sponsored Rlde & Stride contrlbutlng another £1,281 to good causes. The repairs and malntenance budget was well controlled In 2024 {£5.193 compared to £17A32 In 2023) which Is often a keen Indlcator of a church's finanaal health In anytyen year, wlth no major repairs or investments required other than 8eneral day-to4lay. The flnal expendlture of notÈ was the purchase of a new altsr, funded from the legacy of Mlchael Dickens whose generosity contlnues to benefit Hoty Trinty in lrfe and death. The value of our investments at the end of 2024 fell to £338.$09 from £360,486 but thays largely explalned by our sale of £30,CIJO worth of shares at a cost of £29,552- which explains the £448 galn In Investment Income- to cover a coupk of parlsh share payments and to plug a cash fiow hole in the Sprlng of 2024. rther than due to a poor perfomilng year In the markets.
