## **’ – St Mary s PCC Hinckley Annual Report 2021** ## **Background** St Mary’s PCC has the responsibility for co-operating with the vicar in promoting in the ecclesiastical parish the whole inclusive mission of the church including pastoral, missional, social, community and ecumenical. It also has maintenance responsibilities for the church, St Mary’s Community Hall and St Francis Community Centre. ## **Membership** Members of the PCC are either ex officio or elected at the Annual Church Parochial Meeting (APCM) in accordance with the Church Representation Rules. _During the year the following served as members of the PCC: Vicar: Rev Vince Jupp Diocesan Transition Enabler. (Temporary Position) Children and Young Children’s Worker: Bev Frettsome Treasurer: Ann Wright Church Maintenance: Colin Bent Churchwardens: Beverley Henderson and Elizabeth Seal Deputy Wardens: Steven Townson Representatives to Deanery Synod: Val Carr, Alistair Crooks and Debbie Dixon Elected members: Susan Griffin, Paul Hopkinson, Judy Williams, Debbie Dixon, Elisa Simmons, Janet Pettit, Kerry Shilton, Susan Moore, Rosemary Simpson, Don Wright, Duane Mellor, Peter Harris._ ## **Committees** The PCC operates through a number of committees which meet between meetings of the PCC. Members of these committees are not necessarily members of the PCC. - Finance and Fabric Committee – This has the power to transact the business of the PCC between its meetings, subject to any direction given by the council. It oversees the - general financial dimension of the work of St Mary’s and is responsible for the fabric of St Mary’s Church - St Francis Management Committee – Responsible for the finance, fabric and work of the St Francis Centre. - St Mary’s Community Hall Committee – Responsible for the finance, fabric and work of St Mary’s Community Hall - Mission Committee - Allocates the church donations to charities. Promotes organisations involved in mission locally, nationally and internationally. - Pastoral Committee – Concerned with pastoral care in the parish - Open Church Committee –Responsible for the open church and running of the coffee bar, book stall and Traidcraft sales. ## **Church Membership** _There were 139 members on the Church Electoral Roll at the APCM 26th August 2021(APCM was postponed from April due to Covid Pandemic)_ ## **Review of the Year** The Priest employed as a Transition Enabler, the Rev Vince Jupp, served the church until May 2021. Our new Vicar, the Rev Ian Hill was collated as our new Vicar on 30[th] June 2021 and started ministry at the beginning of August. Since his arrival, the Rev Ian Hill has helped us move forward from the restrictions of the interregnum and of Covid. By the end of the year we had restored our usual Sunday service pattern of 8.00am, 10.15am & 6.00pm, with a Tuesday Communion service restored twice a month. St Mary’s school resumed collective worship in the church twice a week whilst Covid rates permitted this, and the coffee bar and book stall were able to resume after the Covid shutdowns. A new church, planted by St John’s, Hinckley and supported by the Diocese of Leicester was launched into the St Francis Centre, and is being supported by St Mary’s in terms of accommodation. The PCC met _5 times_ during 2021 and received reports from the committees, Children’s Worker and Deanery Synod members. The service through the work of the St Francis Centre continued with the manager Jo Boffey. St Mary’s also contributed to the wider town through the open church, coffee bar, food bank, Traidcraft sales and also included working with St Mary’s School, Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council and a range of local and international charities as Covid restrictions permitted. During 2021 the Covid-19 pandemic had a huge effect on our Church and Community. The building was closed for many months and all worship was conducted online. The coffee bar was closed and only reopened on reduced hours for many months. Our families and children's worker strived hard to support. Both the Church Hall and St Francis Centre were closed for months. Unfortunately, this has severely affected the income received by St Mary’s over 2021 ## **Finance** 2020 overall deficit for the whole PCC consolidated accounts amounted to £8 a significant deterioration over the surplus for 2019. Considering the Covid lock downs and loss of income from the coffee bar and fundraising activities this almost financial position could have been much worse and has to be seen as a positive thing to the credit of our Treasurer and PCC. Hinckley, for the year ended 31 December 2021. Respective responsibilities of the PCC and the examiner. As members of the PCC you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts; you consider that the audit requirements of section 144{2} of the Charities Act 2011 {the 2011 Act) do not apply. It is my responsibility to: Examine the accounts under section 145 of the 2011 act; To follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given bythe Charity Commission under section 14515llbl of the 2011 Act- and To state whether particular matters have come to my attention. Basis of thls report. My examination was carried out in accordance with the General Directlons glven by the Charlty Commission. That examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the PCC and a comparison of the accounts with those records. It also includes considering any unusual items of disclosures in the accounts and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit. and. consequently. no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a "true and fairview" and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.
