1.0 Introduction & ob ectives
St Mary's Parochial Church Council has the responsibility together with the incumbent for the running
of the parish church and serving th¢ population of Ponteland (some 14,000 souls)- developing the whole
mission of the church on matters pastoral, evangelical, social, and ecumenical. It is also responsible for
th¢ fabric of the ancient church in Ponteland, Holy Saviour Milbourne, 2 Grange Road and the Parish
Centre.
2.0 Mission Statement
"We are a parish proclaiming the good news of the risen Christ, and supplyingthe spiritual, moral
and soeial needs of all who seek assistancey particularly those living in the parish of Ponteland."
3.0 The Parochial Church Council
Members of the PCC are either ex-officio or elected by the Annual Parochial Church Meeting in
accordance with the Church Representation Rules.

The total membership of the PCC for 2024 was 23, which includes Deanery Synod reps, Holy Saviour
reps, and Clergy. The PCC met six times during 2024 with an average attendance of I l.
The PCC is registered.with the Charity Commission, (Registered No. 1134771), and the members of
the PCC act as Trustees of the Charity.

5.0 Church Attendance
A total of 192 parishioners were reglstered at the end of April 2024.
Attendance figwes durlng the yeai continued the rise seen in previous years. Tlie aveiage week in
Octol)ei attendance was 156 (20?3. 127.. 2022: 118). The avernEe swidav attendance in the vear was
103 (2023, 90: 2022 80).
Attendance also ll￿reased at E&8teT. witli 185 attel1dll￿ tlie churches oll Easter Eve and Eastei" Day,
(2023. 163.. 2022. 142). At Christn￿S nearly 900 attended church on Christhias Eve and Christmas
Day. In addition, iiearly 1,000 attended tlie ChTistsnas Seivices tliat were held for tkie Scouts, Pele TrusL
schools and Liglit of a Lrfe.
Occasional scrvlces: There were 28(25) baptisms and 7(6) mauiages, 21(26) funerals. pli￿ 13

a wonderfid resource. guide and pastor. both within this Paris11. but also the Deanery. Diocese and
bevond. Revd Paid and Revd Rosemarv have taken on hei resDollsibdities and liave conlillued to

focused on school visits, and welcoming ￿OlipS into the church. Contact lias been developed with the

The PCC'S unrestricted income rose between 20?3 ￿ld 2024 by£3.659 to £154,608. In the same
period the unrestricted expenditure dropped by £18,656 to £148,982.
This mea]it that the PCC had a surplus of inconie over expenditure in 2024 of £5,626.

The main item of iIicome is Planned Gyving. hi 2024 the PCC iEceived £65,642. this was a falI of
£),498, 01. 5% from ?02J.
Open plate collections at £14.105 W￿.e up by £829, or 6%. This is the follrtli consecutive year for which
plate collectioiis have risell. Tlie Contsctless machine raised £2:961. most of its use was at baptisms,
but there were regular contributions throughout the week from visitors. Gifts via the contactless
machine l'ose by £849 and provides a steady and increasiJJg So1￿Ce of incorne.
Tlie Gift Aid collected was down. in line with the drop in Planned Giving to £19,858 but Temains a
siguificant source of income for the PCC.
The incoine from hiring out the Parish Centre was £22,911. this was an increase of £4,629 on 2023.
