MAYOR OF STOCKPORT CHARITY FUND ANNUAL REPORT FOR THE FINANCIAL YEAR 2021/22
The Mayor of Stockport Charity Fund is a non-company charity, which was established on 26[th] November 2009. Each year, the newly elected Mayor will run a series of events to raise funds for the Mayor of Stockport Charity Fund. At the end of their mayoral term, the Mayor will donate the funds raised to their chosen charity in line with the objectives of the Charity and these objectives are as follows:-

The prevention or relief of poverty in Stockport by providing: grants, items and services to individuals in need and/or charities, or other organisations working to prevent or relieve poverty.

To assist in the treatment and care of persons suffering from mental or physical illness of any description or in need of rehabilitation as a result of such illness, by the provision of facilities for work and recreation

For the public benefit to promote the education (including social and physical training) of people under the age of 25 years in Stockport in such ways as the charity trustees think fit, including by:

awarding to such persons scholarships, maintenance allowances or grants tenable at any university, college or institution of higher or further education;

providing their education (including the study of music or other arts), to undertake travel in furtherance of that education or to prepare for entry to any occupation, trade or profession on leaving any educational establishment.
During the financial year, the Mayor has run a number of fund-raising events, including the annual Mayor’s Ball and abseil from Stopford House. The Mayor, assisted by Council Officers, has been closely monitoring the income received on the account.
Since the start of the financial year, i.e. 1 June 2021, a total of £47,166.80 has been received into the Mayor of Stockport Charity Fund bank account. Of this £8,053.63 related to the previous Mayor’s fund raising activities, the remaining £39,113.17 relates to funding raising events for the Mayor during the 2021/22 financial year.
A total of £56,626.33 has been paid out during the period 1 June 2021 to 31 May 2022. £18,213.16 related to the previous Mayor’s fund-raising activities, including £16,778.16 final donation payment to their chosen charity for 2020/21. The expenditure of the Mayor during the 2021/22 financial year was £7,243.05, leaving £31,170.12 to donate to their chosen charity, which was Sector3.
ACCOUNTING POLICIES
- In accordance with Charity Commission guidance, the accounts have been prepared on a ‘Receipts and Payments Accounts’ basis. Noncompany charities with income of less than £250,000 per annum can produce accounts on a Receipts and Payments basis, which simply accounts for incoming and outgoing cash for the year.

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the above charity (“the Trust”) for the year ended 31 / 05 / 2022 . Responsibilities and As the charity trustees of the Trust, you are responsible for the basis of report preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”).
I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act. Independent I have completed my examination.
