We kicked off May with our annual
Christian
Aid Big Breakfast
and, whilst we can't yet compete with Gails, the bacon and
sausage butties went down atreat with congregation
and
passers-by
alike and raised LS12.
June was a busy month: our patronal
festival of Pentecost
coincided with the national celebration ofThe Queen's Jubilee.
We decided to combine the two into one glorious event (which
had the added bonus of reducing the number ofopportunities
for Mother Ruth toset fire tothings!). Later in the month we
hosted our increasingly
popular Summer Show and Tea.
July saw us celebrating
Pride as well as saying goodbye to the
lovely Nathan
who had been an integral
part ofthe
congregation
as he took up a new job in Scotland.
It also saw the launch ofour Contact Centre Loos appeal.
August
is a traditionally
quiet time for us: Mother Ruth took a
much-needed
break allowing usto welcome both Father Richard
and Father Kit Gunasekera
Church ofthe Holy Spirit, Cla
With the sad news on the 8'" September that Her Majesty,
Queen Elizabeth
ii had died, we along with the rest ofthe
country honoured
her long service with the ringing ofthe church
bell, opening the church as a place ofquiet prayerand
reflection
and a beautiful
candlelit service.
Itwas a busy month as we held another one ofour Cake Sales
and hosted agreat Quiz and curry night to raise money for our
new Contact Centre toilets

In early October we had the honour ofwelcoming
back Rev
David Houghton
to celebrate the SO'" anniversary
of his
ordination.
Later that month we celebrated
Harvest Festival with a
collection for Ace ofClubs homeless shelter.
We ended the month
with what
isfast becoming one ofour
most popular community
event,
All Hallows'
E'en. Once again
the church was filled with ghosts, ghouls, wraiths and mummys
of all ages.
October also saw the departure
ofour amazing
Parish Office
Administrator,
Rosslyn
November
saw the traditional
celebration
ofremembrance
Sunday and the hunt was on for a new Parish Office Manager
The month ended on a high note with our festive Christmas
Fair
which was well attended
and agreat success in kick starting the
Christmas
spirit.
December came in before we knew it along with all the
Christmassy
services and celebrations,
Service of Lessons and
Carols, Carols in the Village, Carols by Candlelight
and the ever-
popular Christingle.
Maybe we weren' tquite a popular as some
ofthe World Cup matches but we still had great turnouts
showing that the Church,
in a post covid world,
still holds a draw
for those who celebrate the season with us.
December also saw the return ofour night shelter Hosted by
Robes.
January started with the welcoming
of a new Organ Scholar Siyu
and we extended
our Robes night shelter dates into March.
