## _**Annual Report 2022**_ The community and congregation of Holy Trinity, Tottenham gathered on 23[rd] April 2023 to thank God for our common life and give an account of our affairs in 2022. ## _**Post COVID-19 RETURN TO CHURCH**_ Even as we returned fully to Church for in-person services, we maintained due regard for public health considerations to safeguard all worshippers and visitors because persistent COVID-19 outbreaks have continued. This past year we have been guided by two signposts noted in my report to the parish last year. The first is the wise direction of Sarah, our Bishop in London: _**"The challenge for us is not to look back and long for life before the pandemic but rather to remind ourselves who God was for us because that is who he is for us – and the God who called us is faithful. Don't long for the congregations you had and the activities you couldn't sustain and can't begin again but rather remember who God is for you and look forward as people of hope discerning whom God is calling us to be."**_ The second is the PCC Away Day resolution to grow as a parish community that is enthusiastic to ' _Turn out to Help Out'_ and ever willing to ' _Reach out to Lift (other) Up_ .' Accordingly, by God's grace, we have remained _**"a church that makes God known, loved and served.”**_ As ever, we have continued to live and act in response to God's precious gift of faith and supported each other in practical ways. The Broadcast Team has enhanced arrangements to allow us to run services as single events for in-person and online congregations. We are grateful to them that we can declare that our services are not simply a broadcast of a sum of recorded parts but liturgical events for a gathered community drawn from across the world. All who join us from across the globe can participate. ## _Administration and Finance_ The meeting recorded a heartfelt 'THANK YOU' to the PCC and its principal officers for their commitment, support, and selfless service to the life and running of the Church. ## _**Prayer and Worship**_ As in the past, 'the power of prayer' informed all our affairs. We have been steadfast as a worshipping community around the Eucharist on Sundays and Wednesday Bible Study. ## _**Appealing Church space**_ Immense gratitude was tendered to all those who, in various ways, were involved in making this Church space SAFE, comfortable, and appealing for worship. Special mention was made of the weekly team of cleaners (especially Adaeze, Ken, Jannette, Janet, Toyin, and Rev’d Ami). The Vicar commended their devotion to the things that matter, noticed only when left unattended to, and noted that they have, in no small measure, helped to make our worship experience holy and spiritually absorbing. On a less visible front, Planning Permission was secured for work to start on the ladder that leads to the church roof. This will finally allow access to the clock that has been out of order for quite some time now. ## _**The Sunday School**_ Our Sunday School children featured prominently at the Sunday services. The ‘Safeguarding’ of their interests and those of all vulnerable adults remained at the forefront of their place in our parish life. ## _**The Organ and Choir**_ As ever, the Organ and the Choir remained a glorious feature of our worship life. Whilst we were sad to wave goodbye to the services of Mr. John Khwaja, it has been a joy to welcome the revelation of JD as a capable and divinely prepared replacement as the Church Organist and Director of Music. Jd has worked assiduously to maintain the proficiency, commitment, and essential contribution of choral music, to the worship life at Holy Trinity. ## _**Festival of Advent Carols**_ Thrown in at the deep end, JD and the choir delivered gloriously at a musical programme - Festival of Advent Carols at Holy Trinity Tottenham on Saturday, 26th November. The festival (more fully described in the Choir Report) was in collaboration with a Nigeriabased musical organisation. It was one of several events planned to raise funds to refurbish the Organ at Holy Trinity, which an eminent |Organ historian has described as possessing “unique heritage value worthy of preservation.” ## _**Community**_ Local ecumenical relations have been sustained, primarily through the long-running joint Lent Course organized with the Churches Together in Tottenham. Our support for various community projects and charities (including ALMA) remains strong. The Foodbank team is actively addressing the growing social and pastoral needs caused by the worsening economic downturn. Holy Trinity's Foodbank service has become a beacon of hope for many in our community, changing public perception of our church building and grounds. We are grateful to God for the new volunteers and the generous grant-making bodies that have provided the much-needed funds to keep the service running. ## _**The Future**_ I am delighted to report that the PCC now has administrative control Under5s Building and Grounds. Its place and function in the future of our parish’s call to mission have also been secured by the engagement of a tenant on terms favourable to its refurbishment and use for community engagement. By God's providence, a twenty-two-year vision to bring the running of the Old School House and the Under5s Building into the control of the PCC became a reality. It came about not by strength or power but by the gracious spirit of a loving and merciful God. The whole story is for the pages of my memoirs. It is sufficient to say here that it is a tale of a God of miracles and His ability to thwart even the most obstinate attempts of those who ride out against us like _Balaam, son of Beor_ .
