FINANCIAL REVIEW
Financial results
It has been one of the most challenging years in our history, 7Mth a di￿U￿ extemal operating environment in
terms of cost of living arKI a reduth'on in youth Sector￿aSed funding.
The City Council is facing unwecedented financial diffitsJltie5 whith presents unpredictability for us in tems of
ontsnued funding of key staff and lor City Counul lenanls who occupy rented space in the building. However.
il (bukj also provlde new opportunities tl ywth Ser¥￿S are fvrther reduced.
We have also found our fvndraising aclNty extremety challenging wth a drop in income of 50% due to high
demand on the limited lunds available. This now presents chaI￿nge5 in lerms of meeting our operating costs
and is a massive hil lo our reserves our financial accounts showing a decrease in net funds of £167,711.
Fortunalety, we were able lo build strong fe5er¥es in previous years which have provmded a cushion thi5 year.
This now leaves our ￿Se￿eS much dep￿ted incfeasing Ihe challenges in the coming year.
In previous years the trustees also agreed to eamiark funds for caprtal and major ￿paIrS to the buihjing and
we wrll ￿ntInue to use this fund to carry out an essential upgrade lo our b0￿r room.
th our business pbanning complete we must focus our fvndraisiNJ efforts to alwn and find ways lo bnng
in core income and caprtal to maintain our iicreasingty demanding buildiThJ.
Res•rve$ pollcy
The Trusts policy on reserves has been to maintain a ￿e1 of ￿serveS to cover operation5 for al kas112
months in the event of unexpected k*SS of revenue- grants rents et¢. lo give bme lo replace income from other
sources. This has never been more apparent than thi5 yew. as have been able to lall back on re5eNes with a
reduclb)n in income. This d¢)es now mean we have tess of a cushtsjn and wll need to Carefully review all our
costs.
Pfoiect reserves are speci￿ to indNidual prwts and are ring4enced unld spend against the project 15
achieved.
AI 30 September 2023. total reserves were £226.929, of wh￿h £1351 were held for restricted purposes. A
rther £40.067 has been designated lor tuture specthc use. leaving free reserves of £186,897, a decrease of
È64,795 from the prior year.
D¢slgnated fund
The Trustees have set aside fvnds for essential buildirbg eostslrepaits as the buildiry is now 17 years old and
we are finding the level of maintenance required is infftasing, part￿Yla￿ the plant equipment. The boilers
ère old and costing us money not On￿ in energy Consumpt￿rt. but constant refurbishrr￿ntwlth parts becoming
hard to source.
Trustees have agreed lo carrying fonward lunds from our desNJnated fund last year las notsd in accounts) of
£40,￿7. to meet the h￿￿e¥e1 building demands.
