Activities The WSC Mission Ststement 'We are committed to working together as a Circuit to enable pe￿onal growth and every church to be a pla￿ of welcome, love and acceptan￿ in the name of Jesus Christ.. WSC is njn according to the Constrtutional Practice and Discipline of the Methodist Church in Great Britain. (Registered Chanty No. 1132208.) WORSHIP 1. WSC pr(Klu￿S in each quarter a plan for Ihe worship of the whole circuit. The plan is produced by the ministers, assisted by the circutt administrator_ The circuit administrator is responsible for gathering plan dates from preachers and churches and for circulating the plan after it has been finalised. The ministers are responsible for planning all communion services and other 'specials.' 2. All preachers (arKI visiting preachers, tf applicable) are asked how many serVI￿S they wish to take on each plan. 3. The LPS meet four times a year. a) In Septemter- the Annual Rededication of LPS takes pla￿ at this rn￿ting b) In November c) In March d) In June 4. All LP Meetings are chaired by the circurt superintendent. Other cir￿lt offi￿r$ include... a) Jean A￿nin as LP Secretary b) Mentors are appointed for all LPS on note on trial by the LP Meeting. 5. The Cir(￿ll seeks to encourage and foster links with ecumenical partners, vtherever possible. 6. Local church dedications (e.g. workers wrth children and young people, pastoral visitors etc) take place in each churth at an appropriate tirne, decided by the respective Chur Council. PASTORAL CARE The circuit superintendent minister has pastoral charge of o)ngregations in Alcombe, Porlock and Watchet, The section minister has pastoral charge of Minehead and Brendon Hill. Pastoral care is Ca￿led out by the ministers. Minehead has a successful pastoral group system and other churches will refer to Rev Andy, Rev Chloe and in Watchet, Rev Jane who work together to ensure that past¢)ral care is given. DISCIPLESHIP, NURTURE and LEARNING

Discipleship, Nurture arKI Leaming in WSC covers a wide range of activilies, which include... a) A regular pattem of worship. prayer and bible study across the circuit, including rites of passage.. baptisms, weddings and funerals b) Circuit ServI￿S c) Circuit and church events for fellowship, fun and fundraising d) Training for workers with children and young Feople e) Summer 'Holiday Club,, toddler groups and work with local schools f) SafeguardirMJ training, in person and on-line g) Special worship oc(zsions h) Courses which help p￿PIe understand the Bible Courses which help people relate their faith to cwrent events and issues in our society. k) 'Friendship Centre, at Alcombe l) Little Fishes toddlers, groups in MIr￿head, Atcombe and Wlliton EVANGELISM AND OUTREACH WSC is committed to support, en￿Urage arKI challenge the local churches in their life and mission. Evangelism and outreach are atK)ut having a presence in each neighbourhood as ambassadors for Christ,. being salt and light in our communities. This involves making connections with the various groups who use our premises and moving outside the church buildings to make connections with the local communty. The circutt also draws attention to and supports other charitable agencies, such as Action for Children, MHA, All We Can etc. Minehead is a fairtrade church arKI hold Eco Church Bronze status. We are looking to expand these circuit wide. PERSONNEL This area of lrfe wtthin WSC is best considered using three distinct headings... Safeguarding Rev Chloe Kingdon is the CircJJit Safeguarding Officer who liaises between District, Circuit and individual churches on matters relating to safeguarding, and keeps the Circuit Meeting and the individual thurch councils (via Ihe thurch reps) up to date with any changes in legislation and pr0￿dUreS. She also sits on the DSG and leads both foundation and adVan￿d training courses around the district. Each churth holds a copy of the current Methodist Safeguarding Policy doi)Jment and adopt a One Church FM)licy each year. Safeguarding records are up to date, and all trustees are DBS checked and hold advanced CSS ￿rtrficateS according to charity commissions guidelines. Lay Employment Clive Wooldridge, Circyjrt Steward, and the ministers overs Lay Employment in WSC. They are respKJnsible for ensuring Ihat all matters relating to the employment of lay circuit staff and lay people employed by individual ()urches comply with current legislation and are 'safely recTUtted.' The Distrid Lay Employment Secretary is informed of all proposed new employment and employee changes in WSC. Records are kept up to date by Rev Chloe Kingdon.

Invitationslststioning Rev Jane Sperring, Circuit Steward, is resF4)nsible for organising and overseeing the invitation pro￿sS, as and when required. The invrtation committ* is appointed by the Circuit Meeting annually in the spring and will usually include at least two Circuit Stewards. The invitation committee adheres to the current Connexional guidelines. COMMUNICATIONS The Circuit staff and LPS have a key ro￿ in communication as they travel around WSC. There is a Circuit magazine, 'The Messengerf, published ten times per year. This magazine is a showcase for Circurt events. WSC prodU￿S a directory and a preacherfs handbook to disseminate information and to atd communication. WSC has developed its own website, www.westsomerselmethryJists.org.uK Chaz Hardiman is the webmaster. The Circuit Administrator has a key role in communicating with all the churches. Every circurt gr￿p and every thurch has a responsibility to aid communication and dissemination of information around the circuit PROPERTY The CLT have a team approath to propety matters. and are assisted by Rev Linda Barriball. Achievements and perfonnance Main achievements of the year Central records have been revised according to GDPR. Members and adherents have submitted both emergency contacts and next of kin details which are held securely. The Circuit Plan ¢X)ntinues to be published quarterly. Minehead is an ecwhurch and working towards their Gold status. Part of this is the development of a friendship garden which is regulady used by the toddlers and available for hire. The garden has a sensory trail, opwrtunities for growing plants and vegetables alongside many eco factors such as hedgehc¥J house, bug hotels and wild gardens. The CLT continLes to Overs￿ lay employment in the circuit. Priscilla Woodhall continued in her role of Circuit Administrator and leader of Little Fishes. assisted by Hannah Shippey. Penny Williams, our community worker supports the cirC￿lt with the 'Friendship Centre., Jess James, Outreach Worker SupFM)rts the lrfe of the Circuit, particularly amongst youngsters in the east of the Circuit. The circuit continues to support the district initiative 'Christian Communities in Conversation., led by Lynne Wooldridge.

Aims and Objectives for SMC during the period 0109 25- 3108 26 1. To continue developing WSC Sin￿ becoming a 'One-Church' circuit in September 2022, particularly by streamlining day to day finan￿. 2. To continue to review the circuit staff and volunteer roles ensuring that any boundary drtfting is recognised and contracts and role descriptions are updated accordingly. 3.
