Th8 URC minister, Rev DR Peter Stevenson, having oversight of Christchurch LEP retired in March 2025. The circuit sought a part-time Methodist minister through the stationing process and in this Instance was unsucce8sful. The appointment ofa Community Evangelist associated with HarrowbyLane commenced in September. RichaidThomas'sterm of appointment Isfor￿0Years worklng undertheguidance of R8v Neil Maynard and a tnan8gement team. The objective of this position 18 to . Work across all age groups withln and outslde the church and develop ways of sharing faith with a range of people. Ernbed evangelistlc Initiatives into the Ilfe of the church and inspir8, encourage, and motivate the church famlly to share falth and be an exampl8 of how to do thls. Review initiatives and 8Ctivlties being undertaken and recommend change where necessary. The sale of Cropwell Bishop Church and School roomwas agreed by privatetreaty having be8n unsuccessful at auction on numerous occasions.The salewas ¢ompletad 8ftertheyear-end. There have been no further closure of churches duringthe ye8Y under revlew. The Circuit continued to encourag8 churche8 in the diversity of their worship and helped to resource this through the preaching plan. The Local Preocherg 8nd Worship Leaders Meeting contlnued to meet regularly. exercising oversight over accredited and tralnee Local Preachers. One trainee local preacher has SUCGes8fully completed tha training course and two new worship leaders are In training. FUTURE PLANS The circuit will endeavourto appoint an 8dditional p8rt-tlme presbyter to fill the vacancy left by the retired URC minister. If unsuccessful the Circuit wlll develop alternative plans to provide additional pastoral and missional support to the two full-time presbyters. FINANCIAL REVIEW The trustees have reviewed the circumstance of the Circuit and consider that adequate assets and resources continue to be availableto fund its actlvlties forthe foreseeable luture. The trustees therefore belleve that the preparation of the annu81 repDrt8nd accounts on a going basis is appropriate. Due to gross income exceeding £250.000 for the first time the charity is no longer classified as small and Iherefore it has been necessary to change the basis of accounting from Receipts and Paymentg to Accrued accounting. This method takes into account the timing of recelpts 8nd payments alld the periods to which they relate and reflects the value of other non-monetary 858ets held by the Circult. General Fund The principal source of income for the Circuit is the circuit assesstnent Paid by the Churches. The circuit continues to have a pollcy of using a formula to decide how much each church pays which tri89 to reflect affordability. In addition rent is received from tWD properties and interestfrom the Circuit rgserve is used to augmentthe assessments and keepthem as low as possible. Agrantwas received fromthe Nottingham and Derby Distrlctforpartof ihe cost of employingthecommunity Evangelist with the balance being drawn from the Clrcuit Model Trust Fund ICMTFI. Further money was drawn downfrom the CMTFto payfor improvements to the mansès. Tot81 Income olthe General Fund was £224,547. Circult expenditure mainly covers the District Assessment and employment costs end expenses. Total expenditure amounted to £241.159 leaving a deficit of £16,169 after adjustingfor changes in the marketV8lue of investments and before transfeTS from the CMTF. Circuit Model Trust Fund The principal source of income forthe Clrcuit ModelTrust Fund is the sale of properties and associated investment income from those resulting funds. Total District Levywas £9.417 which wlll be used to further rni88ion work within the Connexion. Endowment Funds The Circuit has Endowment Funds whlch have arisen as a results of bequests in favour of the Circuit or Clrcuit churches which have since closed. In accordance with Standing Ord8rs these monies are held byTMCP who managethem on its behalf. In allcases incomeform these Endowments can b8 used forgeneral purposes. Thesefunds amounted to £48,657 at 31 August 2025 Reserves Pollcy The Circuit Model Trust Fund ICMTFI has arlsen as result of the $818 of manses and church buildlngs no longer required wthin the Circuit, The use of these designated lund8 18 determined by the Constitutional Practices and Dlscipline of the Methodist Church {CPDI. The general reserves policy is to maintain adequate funds amounting to six months of the dayto day expenditure of the Circuit. This was reviewed durlng the year.

STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT GoverningdocL¢ment The charity is controlled by its governing document. a deed of trust, 8nd constitutes an unincorporated charity. The Grantham and Vale of Belvoir Methodist Circuit was formed on 1 September 2004 from the merger of the prevlous Grantham Circuit and the Vale of Belvoir Circuit. It is part of the Nottlngham and Derby District which in turn Is part of the Methodigt Connexion in Great Britain whose constitution Is governed by an Act of Parliament. The Circuit is governed by the Deed of Union (19321 and the Methodist Church Act 1976 88 amended March 2011. Overall control of the Circuit rests with the Methodist Conference. The Connexional Office implements decisions made by Confer8nce and is also responsible for the stationlng of ministers in individual Circuits. Connexional deci8ions are passed to the Chalr of the District and the appropriate Officers of the District for regional implementation. The District passes the control down to Circuit level for local implementation by the Superlntendent Ministers, mlnisterial stsff and Circuit Stewgrds via the medium of the Clrcuit Meeting. The membership of the Circuit Meeting is laid down in CPD. Charity constitution In simple terms the Circuit Meeting is made up of: Circuit Minlsters,. Circuit Stewards and other office holder5 undertaking Circuit roles. Circuit lay workers. repre8entatlves from the churches within the Circult {being the church Treasurer, church steward plus one other elected member per 100 members Df the church): other Methodist Ministers lincludinE Supernumerariesl residing thin the Circuitwishing to take up appointment and Authorised Mlnisters worklng with Methodist churches within the Circuit who wlsh to take up appointment. The voting members of the Circuit rneeting are the Managing Trustees otthe Circuit. Certain matter8, principally those relatingto property issues, must be referred to the District and the Connexional office- through the Trustees for Methodist Chuich Purposes {TMCPI. acting as Custodian Trustees, but rnost matters are determined bythe Circuit meeting itself. Recrultment and 8ppointment ot new trustees Whilst the appointment of the managingtru8tees Is deterrnined in accordance with the Standing Orders ofthe Methodist Church we aim to ensure members ofthe Circuit LeadershipTeam and the Circuit Stewards include a broad range of experience and expertlse including pastoral, financial and property matters. Funds are allocated within the Circuit and also accessed via the District to provide trainingfor ordalned and laymembers of staff. The Connexion offers on-line trairbing for all new Circuit Steward5.

Both the Circuit Stewards and the Circuit Leadership Team meet on a regular basis to review the work within andlor policies of the Circuit and to make recommendations to the Circuit Meeting. The management of the Circult is supporteii by 8 paid, part-time Circuit Administrator. TheTrusteesfor Methodist Purposes ITMCPI TheTrusteesforMethodlst Church Purpoges hold the Circuit's ModelTrust Funds. Fromthese funds they deduct a levy. proportional to the funds held, which goes towards the running of the Methodist Church nationally. They act as Custodian Trustees holdingthe tltle to the three propertl8s (Manses) in which the Mlnisters live, one of which Is currently let. The Circuit Meeting, acting as Local ManagingTrustees, is respon8ible for the dey to day m8nagemont of the propertSes and has thg right and obligations of exercising power or discretion over them.
